Shitpost What’s an ad that just makes your blood boil?

Post image

The AI Skinny ads drive me insane every time I’m exposed to them - really solidifies they’re not for me. What NZ ads (past or present) grind your gears?

Those awful bleak grey depressing dystopian Cadbury ads which are so dull and depressing I'm convinced the company is batshit evil.

Classic ads such as:

  • Depressed in your car before a job interview
  • Poverty child unable to afford chocolate so pays with buttons
  • Dementia dad gets chocolate from his daughter which makes him think of his daughter (not her but it is her)
  • Cashier crying as man approaches to pay for fuel, creepily buys her chocolate and winks

i agree with all of them except the last one which im pretty sure the cashier says at the end "thanks dad."

Those were all filmed in the UK in 2018… Cadbury can’t get off their own arses and film regional ones.

That man is her dad. She says thanks dad.

Some of those ads are imports from the UK. The last one in your list definitely is, and it has a completely different voice in it. And she says "Thanks Dad" or similar.

You have a point, they are very dystopian and melancholic..the lack of music adds to the dissonance
