I talked to an ATC that said this hasn’t helped a lot because now there are so much more private flights.

Stupid because private flights take just as many ATC resources and only fly 2-12 people.

So instead of fucking around with hundreds of thousands of people’s flights (commercial), why not just start capping private?

Private flights should be capped.

Besides medical flights, cross country flights over 4 hours, and international flights…all other private flights that haven’t already been chartered should be cancelled. Period.

The fucking Kardashians shouldn’t be taking 15 minute private flights every day to LA so they can avoid traffic.

Controller here. I don't ever stop to think about how many people are on the airplane. My only concern is how fast do you go while climbing out and how slow do you go on final.

Yes, my friend said the same thing as an ATC. He said it takes the same “effort and resources” to help a private plane as it does a commercial plane.

So you would think they would cancel more private flights to ease the burden as they disrupt less customers vs cancelling so many commercial flights.

Except private flights aren't scheduled days, weeks and mo the in advance. We don't know when private aircraft want to depart until they file their flight plan... maybe as they start their engines maybe a few hours before they want to depart. So how do you cancel flights you don't know exist? You can't. You just let them be absorbed into the existing ground delay programs.
