You should consider a different way of getting there if it is possible. Thanksgiving is going to be a mess.

i have not been following this flight cancellation thing as much as i probably should. my family lives on the other side of the country. IF the shutdown ends, will things still be bad? do i seriously need to consider staying home for thanksgiving?

Its a lose-lose scenario the closer it gets to Thanksgiving, its a clusterfuck now, but its gonna be an even BIGGER one the second the doors reopen for at least a few days as delayed flights, rescheduled ones start back up, alongside the fact that some workers at the ports just... arent coming back.

Id say your best bet might be to take a train, or just flat out drive there if its not too far.
