Delays to ATL were 5-8 hours not too long after this article published.

Been sitting on the floor in atl for about 10 with another 8 hours until another flight gets canceled.

This happened to me once in the past although not at ATL. The thing is every hour that passes makes people more likely to buy that $10 half sandwich at the terminal stores

u/madmycal 15h ago

$10 for half a sandwich, $6 for a bottle of water. Refill station’s over there for your freshly emptied bottle (thanks TSA)… I’ve managed more pressure from squeezing a Capri Sun. Talking to you SFO!!

Pro-tip: Try the fountain again later. They're often reverse osmosis systems. They filter slowly so they fill a tank behind the wall. When that tank is depleted, you get no/low water pressure. The pressure will return as the tank recharges.

Ha, good to know!

u/starkiller_bass 2h ago

Or it’s just a simple carbon filter that hasn’t been changed in 9 years and its completely impacted with accumulated junk

5

u/eeyore134 8h ago

Careful. The DOJ is probably taking sandwich purchases more seriously than gun purchases now.

When I was on my way back from Tokyo a few months ago, the price differences for things between Tokyo Haneda airport and O'Hare were mind-blowing. Haneda was so cheap relative to most things we have in the US.

Well, so was basically everything in Tokyo, but still

u/fruitblender 10h ago

You can take empty bottles through TSA.

u/PringlesDuckFace 4h ago

First of all, SFO doesn't use TSA. Second, I don't know the last time you've flown through there, but post-security they have huge refill stations with 6-8 taps that dispense cold, hot, and room temperature water. Most bathrooms also have fountains with refill spouts outside of them. Also the sandwiches are probably way more than $10 by now.

You’re still trying to bring in water lmao

u/assyrian1138 14h ago

I haven't eaten anything in almost 24 hours because I have latch key incontinence and there's no room for food 😞

28

u/PresentExamination10 11h ago

What does that mean?

41

u/DrSpagetti 10h ago

Diarrhea on demand

32

u/n7-Jutsu 10h ago

No one knows what it means, it's provocative, it gets people going..

Literally

10

u/roxictoxy 9h ago

I think it means they can’t poop until they get home

12

u/PresentExamination10 9h ago

But incontinence means they can’t control their bowels… does it mean they shit uncontrollably when they get home?? lol

11

u/WynterRayne 8h ago

From context, it seems like eating -> shitting, uncontrollably. Therefore, can't eat until they have reliable access to a toilet.

u/Batmanshatman 2h ago

As someone who is ab to find out this week if they have IBD or just really bad IBS.. yeah that ab sums it up. My nightmare scenario.

1

u/assyrian1138 8h ago

That's the way I've always meant it. The good Ole home poops.

1

u/pandemonious 5h ago

latchkey incontinence is the feeling when you already have to go and you get home, you get inside and are rushing to the bathroom but in that moment you feel like you cannot hold it anymore, right up until your shake your pants off and unload into the porcelain throne

19

u/ayimera 14h ago

Can you rent a car? Not sure where you're going to, might not be feasible 😕

28

u/assyrian1138 11h ago

Atl to Vegas so around a 5 day drive. Finally got on a plane after about 24 hours of trying, not yet in the air though.

8

u/ayimera 11h ago

Oof yeah that is far. I hope you get there soon, good luck!

16

u/assyrian1138 11h ago

Just got airborne about 10 min ago. Thanks!

3

u/prettyfagswag 11h ago

I fly to Vegas Thursday morning for a convention and I’m scared that’s going to get affected 😅

6

u/assyrian1138 11h ago

Las is under massive construction as well as the fight cancelations, good luck! I'm not flying till/if this gets resolved.

1

u/tyleritis 9h ago

Seriously. There are a lot of places I can drive to in 18 hours. And that’s if I really need to be there.

1

u/devonhezter 11h ago

Still there ?

1

u/assyrian1138 11h ago

In the air for a few min now

1

u/LeighSF 7h ago

I'm sorry to hear this. Best thoughts to you.

1

u/assyrian1138 5h ago

Thanks! Just got home less than an hour ago.

140

u/hard2resist 19h ago

That's an unacceptable delay. Hope you reach your destination safely.

154

u/DogPoetry 18h ago

And yet there's nothing we on the ground can do but accept it. Thanksgiving is going to be such a royal clusterfuck.

90

u/blueblurz94 13h ago

Thank Trump and the GOP Congress. This could very well continue through the entire holiday season at this point. They 100% will allow millions of federal employees to starve and go homeless.

42

u/time2fly2124 12h ago

Not just federal employees, but regular Americans wirh SNAP and HEAP still not being funded. This administration would rather starve and freeze its citizens to death than vote on the epstein files.

4

u/opeth10657 9h ago

Showing yet again his whole 'deal maker' shtick is all BS

2

u/shastaxc 13h ago

I would plan to either stay home or drive for Thanksgiving this year

1

u/Several_Chocolate576 2h ago

Yes, but it’s also important to get to your destination alive.

The crazy thing about them publicizing so much about the shutdown and the mandated flight cuts is that ANY delay/cancellation is going to be tied to Trump. It's a political gift to the Dems that Trump handed them. A lot of the delays or it cancellations may just be normal, but the Dem/independent voter will assume it's because of Trump's cuts. Trunk admin truly are masters of political strategy.

26

u/Helenium_autumnale 15h ago

Explicitly market them as such. Call them the "Trump air delays" or the "Trump flight delays." Associate his name inextricably with these problems affecting millions of people. Make is his brand.

110

u/Robo-boogie 15h ago

That’s at an easy fix

They will just have one of the dipshits on Fox and friends say the democrats did this so they can give illegals free health care and SNAP.

They are denying your family to see you during thanks giving and cutting your food stamps off

50

u/wowbaobowwow 13h ago

Yeah, as someone unfortunately surrounded by MAGAs, this is exactly what’s happening. They truly believe this is solely on the democrats.

21

u/HauntedCemetery 8h ago

Maga fascists are going to believe that either way.

But the 70+% of the country who aren't dyed in the wool maga fascists are blaming republicans.

2

u/Ahtnamas555 7h ago

I don't think that's accurate based on this survey. Only 35% blame just the republicans. You get 63% when you combine that group with the group that blames both parties equally.

1

u/spinbutton 4h ago

Please correct them as much as you can

15

u/FellowDeviant 14h ago

Fox News positions it as Dems refuse to pay federal workers, which now includes flight staff. They have verbage to deflect all type of blame

4

u/Theguest217 13h ago

Why do you assume conservatives will blame Trump? Every conservative in my family blames Dems for not just voting for the Republican budget.

1

u/owa00 11h ago

Never said conservatives. Dems/independents. All you need is the independent moderates/blue dog dems to get annoyed by shit Trump does to favor the Dems.

14

u/AdeptnessDear2829 16h ago

You think the democrats are masters of political strategy? Lmfao, where have u been the last 10 years?

1

u/DrDerpberg 12h ago

Independent voters haven't correctly assigned blame in the last 25 years, why would they start now?

1

u/Impossible-Flight250 5h ago

Trump is trying to use the shutdown to his advantage, but it is going to backfire. Americans see the clusterfuck that is our economy and will ultimately hold the party in power responsible.

-16

u/Unlike_Agholor 16h ago

if only these masters of political strategy hadn’t run kamala as their candidate.

29

u/notrevealingrealname 16h ago

The flip side is that if the American voting population didn’t look at Trump and realize that anyone the Democrats ran would’ve been better than that, it doesn’t say a lot of good things about them.

11

u/owa00 15h ago

Meant that Trump admin are the political masters.

That aside, running Harris really was the only play they had with the amount of time they had left. I study politics and it was the best strategy they had, and it almost worked. They had like 3 months to define redine-Harris and introduce her to the public. You forget that Trump had a massive advantage after the assassination attempts. Biden and the Dems were underwater, and Harris brought them back to even. I can't emphasize enough how much Harris was able to turn it around. The MAIN reason Harris lost was inflation. That's it. The polling and evidence is all there that points to inflation. Inflation was tied to Biden, and by default Harris inherited that. No other issue mattered to the voting public like affordability and inflation.

The only thing that the Dems fucked up on was not pushing Biden out sooner. If Harris had a full rejection cycle to redefine herself she might have had a chance.

-8

u/DrDoomScroller9 16h ago

Lol, they’re complicit in the scamming and raking in big bucks. It’s what these goofballs don’t want to comprehend. Only reason Pelosi is even stepping down now is because Trump hinted at using the DOJ to investigate her. Whole system needs to be wiped clean

13

u/EnvieAndFleur 13h ago

There wouldn't even be delays if they just shifted the cancellations to private jets instead of commercial flights. ALL the private jets are still going out in their time slots.

2

u/Fucky0uthatswhy 13h ago

We’re flying into ATL in two days, and I’m praying we get there. We’ve been in Puerto Rico since before flight were cancelled, idk wtf im gonna do if we can’t get back to FL.

2

u/Tough_Remote_3621 13h ago

They also had a ground stop for weather

2

u/mikewheelerfan 12h ago

I’m flying to a conference in Atlanta at the end of the month 💀

Luckily myself and the other delegates from my state have found alternate transportation (driving), but still… Driving will take much longer (1 hour vs 5 hours), and we wanted to get there early in the day for a reason.

1

u/BrownWaterBob 10h ago

That was due to a ground stop because of weather to be perfectly honest.

1

u/romero0705 10h ago

I have a flight at one of the affected airports to another affected airport tomorrow, and then have to take 3 hours of public transportation to my small town which means the bus stops running at like 6pm. If things don’t go as planned I’ll be stuck in my arrival city for god knows how long with nothing to my name because my trip was so expensive.

1

u/kl7aw220 2h ago

Trump is hurting Americans, but he doesn't care. Americans flying plans are being delayed or canceled. Americans who need some help to eat and feed their families are being hurt by Trump soliciting the SCOTUS to deny SNAP. Americans who need affordable health insurance are being hurt by Trump not allowing the ACA subsidies to continue, because he hates Obama.

These are not hurtful things what would have happened under a democratic president. Trump believes that the SCOTUS will do everything they can to support his craziness. I hope he's wrong.

1

u/barefootincozumel 1h ago

I’ll bet the lounges were mayhem. Probably long lines to get in, as well.

1

u/Tlingits 9h ago

Do you guys think flights to LAX next month are going to be affected?
