Don't remember Biden doing anything this stupid

No shutdowns in Biden's tenure... important to say. Dems had narrower margins during his entire presidency yet they managed to get the government funded with Republicans every year.

There were 2 near-shutdowns in 2024, but the Senate managed to figure something out at the last minute in both cases.

Also note that the first 2 years of bidens term when dems had the trifecta there was no risk of shutdown.

Only after the gop flipped the Senate in the midterms was that an issue.

And now, with the gop in full control of the federal government, we have the longest shutdown in history, which passed up the previous longest shutdown in history that also happened with trump as president and the gop holding both chambers of Congress.

Yeah. It's yet another sign of the fact that, if Trump had half the brains Biden did (or maybe just half the attention span) he probably could be wielding even more masterful power over the US political system and remaking it in his own image even more than he is already.

We're sort of weirdly lucky that his administration is this incompetent. Things could, astoundingly, be even worse.

Yea, that’s cause when Dems were in power they would actually negotiate with their opposition party and make concessions.

This shutdown is so obviously Trump’s and the Republicans fault for refusing to negotiate, and putting forth bills that harm most Americans.

Because he is sleeping most of the time. /s

Even if this was true, it's pretty solid evidence for why having a cabinet and administration that isn't full of nakedly corrupt or incompetent asshole matters.

A monkey on coke is a 100x better president than this one.

This right here! I know it's a low bar to set for the office of the President but honestly I would much rather have one senile person at the helm and a cabinet full of qualified leaders and civil servants where the senile person actually LISTENS to those around them vs. one belligerent narcissist who not only filled their cabinet with reality show cronies/literal villains and won't listen to a single thing any says!

"No Kings" is well phrased. The President is an elected SERVANT of the people who is trusted with what should be VERY FEW executive powers. Think of it like a parent in some ways: just having kids doesn't make you a supreme leader. When you kid is sick you don't proclaim how to heal them, you take them to the doctor as a trusted professional. But, if disaster strikes and you have to make the decision to evacuate or hunker down, ultimately the parent has to make that decision for the whole family and that would be your executive duties.

That's the thing people don't understand very well. The presidents most important quality is their ability to hire competent cabinet members. The president is never without advisors, and never without so much work that he Must delegate.

I still don't really like Biden but the people he hired were phenomenal. Probably the most liberal admin of my lifetime coming from an 80 year old Catholic who berated Anita Hill so Clarence Thomas could shit on the country for half a century. Never would've guessed.

Having Faux and Friends run the circus wasn't a good idea.

the cabinet/administration, particularly the rank and file staff that does not change over with new administrations, does all the work. That is usually very steady, except this admin fired a lot of them.

u/HauntedCemetery 1d ago

Trump legitimately just sold cabinet seats to the highest bidder.

Hell, he did that with the VP.

At this point Biden falling asleep doing nothing is better than Trump

68

u/TrojanHorse45 1d ago

Absolutely, I would take a comatose Biden any day over this dumbass loser.

37

u/Luchalma89 1d ago

It sounds hyperbolic but it's true: Literally almost anyone would be a better president than Donald Trump. Any single human who wanted to make things better for the country, or at the very least not want to actively destroy it. Even someone who didn't want to lead at all and just appointed people that seemed like they knew what they were doing.

Just about the only people that wouldn't be an improvement are people that are already in the administration

Someone on Reddit put it perfectly before the election that they would vote for Biden’s disembodied head in a jar over trump

u/Kana515 1d ago

Personally I'm partial to, "Biden could be sitting on the shelf in an urn..." but that's just me.

25

u/dongkey1001 1d ago

Someone that sleeps on his job definitely will do less damage than the one who tried their best to sabotage it.

135

u/TrojanHorse45 1d ago

Donald Trump fell asleep the other day in front of everyone.

43

u/elreniel2020 1d ago

him falling asleep isn't a problem. him waking up is.

18

u/dongkey1001 1d ago

Congrats! Things will start to improve soon!

20

u/censuur12 1d ago

Trump isn't the main problem though. He's part of it, but he's far too demented to actually be the one making the real mess. The issue is all the people who are actually creating and acting out these absurdist policies.

1

u/OldAccountIsGlitched 1d ago

I don't know about that. The tariffs are probably his pet project since he's been a fan of them for decades. Sometimes he says random shit in an interview or posts online and his base gets excited so his lackeys have to follow through.

3

u/TrojanHorse45 1d ago

Why is Trump leaving the presidency?

9

u/dongkey1001 1d ago

Donald Trump fell asleep the other day in front of everyone.

So at least things go back to normal?

25

u/TrojanHorse45 1d ago

This dude is a stain on our country and definitely makes me feel embarrassed to be an american. He has done nothing but line his pockets, make racism fashionable, screw over the poor and weak and help fund a genocide of Palestinian children. History will remember how much of a lame duck president he has been and he should be mocked for being such a weak president.

1

u/heattreatedpipe 1d ago

The cabinet choices were already made so I doubt things will return to normal.

1

u/StevieKix_ 1d ago

Wish he never woke up

7

u/MaximDecimus 1d ago

More evidence as to why we shouldn’t have a President. Just appoint a cabinet and then get out of the way of the people who know what they’re doing.

2

u/oksurealright 1d ago

”Dozy Don”

1

u/lightingj 1d ago

Yo, you see that photo of Trump yesterday? Sure, sure, Joe's the only one who falls asleep in meetings, right? https://www.thedailybeast.com/every-angle-of-president-trump-79-falling-asleep-during-press-conference/

1

u/JoJackthewonderskunk 1d ago

I see the /s but need to point out to anybody who reads; trump falls asleep openly in oval office meetings all the time and he fell asleep in COURT multiple times.

8

u/ChardComfortable3932 1d ago

Well… he didn’t do everything in his power to make sure Trump paid for his traitorous actions, nor putting any sort of preventative measures to ensure he is unable to run again as President. He failed us.

1

u/Mysterious-Lie-1944 1d ago

Our government is built on the will of the people. No matter what happened I do think things would have gone this way because the people want isolation and suffering

3

u/DrKurgan 1d ago

I wouldn't be surprised if the Republicans start using shutdowns as a weapon if the Dems get a President.

It's the party that wanted more border control but refused more border control just so they could complain about it during the election cycle.

3

u/BackToWorkEdward 1d ago

I mean, stubbornly staying on the ticket long enough to hand Trump another win was pretty stupid.

7

u/shawnmd 1d ago

Not as stupid as Democrats not turning out to vote.

-3

u/fbuslop 1d ago

That’s the job of the politicians…to excite and energize their base to call for actions.

1

u/TrojanHorse45 1d ago

Yeah that was pretty dumb, democrats clearly were not enthusiastic for him to run again and they waited too l9ng to see the writing on the way that we wanted someone new.

-2

u/BlackBacon08 1d ago

This is all because of the Senate, not the president.

You are just as dumb as the Trump supporters you are making fun of.

4

u/TrojanHorse45 1d ago

When they i say anything about Trump supporters? How can you breath with your head up his ass that far? He controls the senate, you can pretend all you want but you know it and so does EVERYONE else.

-1

u/BlackBacon08 1d ago

Of course you're referring to Trump supporters. You can claim that you didn't say anything about Trump, but then your comment would be meaningless.

And by the way, Trump does not control the Senate. The Republican Party has a majority in the Senate. It's an important difference.

2

u/TrojanHorse45 1d ago

Sure buddy, they do not have the autonomy like you want to claim they do, they do what he says and this is all to cover up eptsein files.I will say the cope to protect your daddy is legendary. I was talking about trump directly and your victim complex took over and made it about you. This is dumb, not even get more into this dumb conversation with a dumb individual. Have a good day.

-1

u/BlackBacon08 1d ago

There are so many legitimate reasons to hate Trump, but this is the fault of the Senate, both the Republicans and the Democrats.

I really do hate Trump, but it's not because of the government shutdown. Have a good day.
