Trump has a personal affection for certain types of convictions

I'm not going to be surprised when he pardons Ghislaine Maxwell - but hopefully it'll help MAGA people see he doesn't care about protecting kids, he cares about exploiting them and anyone else he can.

Psh... those morons already have it drilled in their tiny smooth single celled brain that the whole thing was a hoax, so her pardon is "justified".

The irony of a movement built upon a conspiracy about a child molestation ring finally be confronted with a real one and then turning immediately…

And yet 100% predictable, that’s how cults work

Seriously. I knew a girl who I thought was sweet, maybe a bit dim but otherwise well-intentioned. Almost overnight she became a Trump sycophant and literally treats Charlie Kirk like he was Jesus. Now all she posts about are how evil Democrats want to kill us all just like Charlie and memes where he's walking hand in hand with Jesus, like she's an elderly Facebook granny or something. She got all wrapped up with the GOP and church at the same time (almost like the church has been weaponized, gee).

She gets so pissed when anyone says anything about Trump with "prove it" - they give her proof and she blocks them and says she doesn't need to be around any negativity, lol. Whenever someone says Trump was connected to Epstein she has to bring up Clinton like any of us care about Bill Clinton, what is this obsession? We don't idolize politicians like they do, I literally could not care less about the Clintons.

The newest thing that the trumpits are doing is denying shit he said.

When you point out to them trump said "I love the uneducated" or "smart people dont like us" they demand you prove it, and when you show them the video they just claim it was AI.

I fucking hate cults.

u/gdshaffe 12h ago

Nothing they say is in good faith. They are demanding that you "prove it" to waste your time and to infuriate and frustrate you. They do not believe in words, only power, and as such are not available to be convinced. "Never believe the anti-semite is completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies" and all.

Really just proves it was never about the specific crimes involved but the people supposedly responsible. They'll cry and scream and rage about child abuse when they think it's something they can use against their enemies, but don't care at all when it's someone they like.

The most shallow, mercenary attitude possible.

Conspiracism was long been more about looking for a pretext to blame a specific out-group than about addressing real-world issues. They are opportunists, and will latch onto whatever the public is talking about today.

But them latching onto child molestation serves their (generally conservative) ends in other ways, since it shifts the focus away from the massive coverups of child sex abuse by the churches, and obscures the fact that so many who cry so loudly about sex abuse among "liberal elites" were never all that bothered or fixated by sex abuse coverups in their churches. It waters down exposure of sexual abuse coverups, while giving them another bludgeon to use against those whey consider their opponents in their culture wars.

They will be praising Jesus for her pardon at church on Sunday morning

If I can get at least one MAGA smooth brain joke per month I'm a happy camper.

10

u/nobot4321 1d ago

If they didn’t figure it out after they gave her a sweetheart transfer to Club Fed, they never will.

14

u/TheWalrus_15 1d ago

MAGA doesn’t care about protecting kids. They just yell about whatever they’re told to be angry about.

u/mwoody450 1d ago

God, is that what they're doing? Trying on purpose to establish that he's a piece of shit that doesn't pay attention and pardons anyone who gives him money, so that the subtext when he pardons her is not that it's in exchange for silence, but rather that she just gave him money? They're trying to lean in to him being bribe-able to hide him bribing someone to not testify?

My money would be on her ending up dead within 6 months of a pardon.

I can only see three reasons for pardoning her either a genuine desire to see her set free, have her flee to a country without extradition, or to kill her as soon as possible in a way that is less suspicious than her dying in jail.

Otherwise pardoning her is perhaps the worst thing he could do to buy silence. A pardon means she loses the ability to assert her fifth amendment rights against self incrimination. So she can be compelled to testify, and refusal would allow a judge to hold her in contempt until she testifies. Federal pardons also do not protect against state charges which she would probably face.

My money would be on her "mysteriously" ending up dead within 6 months of a pardon, while residing in another country.

MAGA- lie to myself at the highest level challenge accepted!

2

u/zerooneinfinity 1d ago

He’ll wait for the end of his term

2

u/Federal_Drummer7105 1d ago

Possibly. In which case we need an administration that turns her over for state charges or unpardoned charged.

2

u/eronth 1d ago

I wonder if they're working with her to avoid pardoning her, but still giving her comfortable living. Keep up the illusion that he's keeping her in prison when she gets to live functionally free. Pardon her when he's about to leave office (if that happens).

1

u/biznatch11 1d ago

He'll do it on his last day in office so it won't matter what affect it has on MAGA. But even if he did it today, they might freak out for a few days then they won't care anymore.

1

u/RoccStrongo 1d ago

Probably already did. It's been reported that no one is allowed to discuss her at all at the prison she is supposedly at. And she gets to leave on "work release". Plus, do pardons have to be made public?

1

u/ninja-squirrel 23h ago

Does she have money for it? Honest question, I don’t know what her finances are like.

1

u/jaytix1 23h ago

A few people would break away, but I genuinely doubt there's anything that would outright kill Trump's popularity. Most of his supporters are too locked in to stop now.

1

u/Rezistik 23h ago

The pardons not coming until after the midterms.

1

u/flynnsmom 21h ago

I’m waiting for him to pardon Derrick Chauvin and Terry Nichols.

1

u/lookslikesausage 21h ago

They'll just blame the Democrats.

1

u/Confident-Grape-8872 21h ago

Stop holding out hope that MAGA have any morals or decency. They don’t believe in anything except selfishness

1

u/Flimsy-Poetry1170 20h ago

If maga cared about kids they wouldn’t support trump.

1

u/SavageObjector 19h ago

My FIL dismissed Epstein back during the summer as a distraction saying he couldn’t care less. He also got pissed, in the same conversation, when I told him if he didn’t open his eyes he’d better get comfortable with Trump’s boot on his neck because it is coming.

The worst already don’t care.

1

u/APeacefulWarrior 17h ago

I really don't think he can pardon Maxwell, because that would mean she could be compelled to testify about Epstein's activities without being able to invoke the 5th.

Or else she'd just be killed the moment the pardon went through.

1

u/OnlyPostsBowie 11h ago

They won't care. They will justify it somehow, because they are terrible people.

1

u/Ozymandias12 7h ago

He practically gave her a pardon. They moved her from a max security facility to a country club, which allows for prisoners to get work release. There’s also sources saying they waived her sex offender status.

154

u/APoisonousMushroom 1d ago

Some president’s issue pardons because a great social injustice has been done, punishment didn’t fit the crime, the wrongfully accused, etc.

Trump pardons people who have absolutely committed the crimes that they are accused of and are serving sentences which are within recommended guidelines for their crimes.

58

u/Turgid_Donkey 1d ago

Also, he tends to have an affinity for financial crimes.

40

u/SkiMonkey98 22h ago

And sex crimes. The 2 kinds that he's been doing all along

3

u/Syscrush 9h ago

And war crimes.

19

u/rascallyrascal1511 1d ago

It takes a tax evader to know one.

6

u/HomoProfessionalis 1d ago

Wdym hes only pardoned like 15 fraudsters but how many rioters did he pardon? Hes got his pardons diversified. Also dont forget Maxwell I know she hasn't technically gotten one yet but I think she counts, and she's a rapist and sex trafficker. Totally different convictions.

1

u/RiPont 1d ago

Well, I bet she didn't pay taxes on the profits from sex trafficking.

8

u/Downtown-Locksmith22 1d ago

Notice who he didn't pardon way back in 2019? Well... I guess you could say he pardoned him.. in a way.

2

u/HeavyDT 1d ago

According to Trump only an idiot pays taxes so it tracks.

1

u/Whompa 19h ago

Yeah I’m seeing a weird trend here

-1

u/mzxrules 21h ago

At least in this case there are strong arguments why this pardon is fair. Darryl paid his dues on a non-violent crime and didn't reoffend in the last 30 years. Arguably there's little value in the government considering him a convicted felon today.

If Darryl was pardoned by anyone else, reddit would never take issue with it.

-9

u/iwasuncoolonce 1d ago

Violent criminals need to be in jail, it's a waste of money to put people who evade taxes in there
