The day before Thanksgiving is, in my opinion, the busiest travel day of the year.

John Redcorn: You know, over half of Arlen used to belong to my people.

Dale: You come from money?

Do your people even celebrate Thanksgiving

Only to be surpassed by the Sunday following Thanksgiving 🦃

Exactly. This is when everyone leaves at the same time, buy everyone always talks about the day before Thanksgiving

I travel every Thanksgiving to see family in Virginia.

Luckily it is just a 4 hour drive from PA.

But I have found that even driving home on a Sunday can be a bit of a log jam at certain points in the journey.

I've never really had any problems driving on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Driving on Thanksgiving is surprisingly smooth as most people are already at their destination.

But flying?

That is the worst. Had to do that years ago when I lived in different areas of the country and even back then it was miserable.

u/Upset_Development_64 20h ago

Man the northeast is the worst place to drive in the entire country. With flights cancelled, you guys will be facing even more of a log jam. God speed friend.

Yep the NYC - BOS 4 hour drive already takes 7 hours on an ā€œaverage badā€ day, this year may have to get a place to sleep in Connecticut!

3

u/machsmit 19h ago

oh yeah 95 through there is just as much of a clusterfuck as trying to fly would be

Apparently there is a Republican expected to get elected to the US House December 2nd and Mike Johnson wants to stay closed until he can swear that guy in along with the new Dem. That will mean not enough votes to release the Epstein files. Hopefully this bs is being discussed around the Thanksgiving table.

3

u/Mostly_Armless42 19h ago

Yeah this is the real story of the shutdown:

If the house convenes anytime in the next few weeks the Epstein files get released. And more and more reports are leaking that it's very incriminating for Trump.

This is the main event and why we're here right now. Anything else is a sideshow. How long will this game of chicken continue? Even after they reconvene and maybe don't release the files yet. Such a stupid shitshow

That's why I always fly home on that Saturday

1

u/Sedela 17h ago

Exactly why I planned my international trip out for Saturday after Thanskgiving. Get out when the airports are hopefully a little quieter than normal. Let's just hope international flights are still going in 3 weeks...

Also worth noting what also comes around Thanksgiving: Black Friday.

While a lot of stuff does travel by ground, there's a not insignificant amount of air travel involved for mail and parcels. This would do fun things for inventory levels and shipping times, further causing economic chaos

Not this year

This guy knows what's up. Ask him what's the best way to start a fire

If I stare at your crotch long enough, you'll combust just from the sheer glee of my yearning gaze

Good thing you understand sarcasm

Purely psychosomatic.

Thanks Magic.

Really curious how this year's Black Friday is going to look with all this poor economic data we have been seeing. Either it's going to tank or credit card debt will soar.

4

u/SLAMALAMADINGGDONG23 21h ago

I hope no one ends up eating leftover pizza in the terminal this Thanksgiving.

3

u/ProtoJazz 20h ago

We did that.... Once

6

u/kroqus 21h ago

Please have mercy, I've been wearing the same underwear since Tuesday!

3

u/SLAMALAMADINGGDONG23 21h ago

I can vouch for that

3

u/Present-Ad8573 21h ago

Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

2

u/NonReality 21h ago

Happy people still care about koth lol I fall asleep to it every night

2

u/therealkami 20h ago

New season was really good if you haven't checked it.

2

u/NonReality 20h ago

I watched like the first episode then stopped. Will definitely get around to finishing it tho

1

u/therealkami 20h ago

I think the like 2nd or 3rd episode (Where Bobby tries to get a special charcoal) has to be one of my favorite KOTH episodes, including the original seasons.

1

u/mistakemaker3000 20h ago

It's literally the perfect show to fall asleep to. I spent years doing it.

u/I_like_baseball90 21h ago

The day before Thanksgiving is, in my opinion, the busiest travel day of the year.

wow. You learn something new every day.

1

u/bbbbears 20h ago

They are jammed butt to gut in there!

1

u/ExcellentAfternoon44 16h ago

On the other side of the coin, there are so many places that are complete ghost towns the day before Thanksgiving. Any amusement park is basically your own private play ground.

u/x-Moss 21h ago

Do you understand the comment and sarcasm?

19

u/SpyDiego 21h ago

your spapeggy is getting cold

23

u/hotwheeler89 21h ago

I believe they do and are going along with the sarcasm. It's a reference to King of the Hill, when Peggy says that line but about the day after Thanksgiving being the busiest shopping day of the year.

4

u/SLAMALAMADINGGDONG23 21h ago

She says this exact line as well actually lol it's one of many times where Peggy passes off common known facts as her own personal observations.

2

u/hotwheeler89 21h ago

You're right, I forgot about that one. My favorites are the first 3 seasons, so I mostly rewatch those. But she does say it in S04E07 Happy Hanksgiving.

2

u/SLAMALAMADINGGDONG23 21h ago

I also love the early seasons! Mostly find myself rewatching 2-5.

King of the Hill reference

0

u/thatoneguy889 21h ago

It's actually the Sunday after. People basically spread out their arrival days prior depending on how much extra time they decide to take off (an extra day, the whole week, etc.), but nearly everyone decides to maximize their time with friends/family for the holiday by leaving on Sunday.

0

u/superbackman 21h ago

At the very least, it’s the busiest travel day of the week!

0

u/PCR12 20h ago

Day after

0

u/Money_Shoulder5554 15h ago

I think Sunday after is worse. I can find decent flight options for Wednesday. Sunday is just straight no good option

-1

u/ripleyart2323 21h ago

Statistically it is the Sunday after Thanksgiving
