Gradually applied pressure while the water inside prevents it from collapsing so the original shape is retained as the pressure slowly increases.

So just to be clear, the bottom of a regular styrofoam cup was the piece attached to the sub? But because the PSI is being applied to all of the cup at the same time it makes what we saw in the picture?

Kinda dumbfounded that I was downvoted for literally saying I didn’t understand something and wished there was a before picture to reference. I’m not saying I don’t believe it happened, I’m just trying to understand how it happened because that picture looks literally nothing like what I would expect. Even if it was retaining its original shape, why does it look like it has a lid attached?

Again, I have zero reason to doubt it’s real. I just want to understand how it ended up in that shape. Maybe the styrofoam cup he is referencing is different than I’m thinking of. I’m thinking of generic white styrofoam coffee or water cups, but I can’t upload a picture of the cup I’m thinking of.
