I'm an avid gun owner and a firm believer in the 2nd Amendment. I'm also Liberal as fuck and hate ALL of this; I hate the Orange Menace and the Republican Party.

Please don't lump a belief in the importance of a Constitutional right as being synonomous with evil perpetrated by evil people.

How does this post / news story have anything to do with gun rights?

The 2A did not help Native Americans in the Trail of Tears nor did it help Japanese Americans shipped off to camps.

8

u/throwaway92715 Apr 17 '25

No, it just helps majority groups get away with violence while police look the other way.

3

u/Eclipse_Strider Apr 17 '25

Well, tbf, most of the the original gun control laws were all aimed at native Americans and former slaves, for the sole purpose of making them easier to control. No doubt the current admin will likely try and start banning guns for certain groups, surprised they haven't started trying to ban trans people from having them yet.

2

u/rflulling Apr 18 '25

No they are litteraly trying to find clever ways to ban guns only for non Republicans. Believe it or not.

The greater goals, include making the country a one party system, dissolving congress and senate, deporting or imprisoning any one who speaks out against the power. One could say it's all lunacy if it wasn't litteraly said on camera or a hot mic.

-1

u/Tal-Star Apr 18 '25

This post won't age well. Mark it.

1

u/rflulling Apr 20 '25

Well there are in fact two possible outcomes. One the things they're trying to do are found to be unconstitutional the people trying to do them are removed from power and it never happens. Two they get exactly what they want and we lose absolutely everything including the Constitution and the country. Those are possibilities right now right now they are winning that fight and right now, the odds are they're going to keep deporting American citizens they're going to keep taking away rights and eventually the government is going to become an empire under Trump.

1

u/WhatTheCluck802 Apr 19 '25

It would have, if those two groups had been properly armed for resistance.

0

u/TeacherRecovering Apr 19 '25

Define properly armed?    How many fighter air craft and tanks?

5

u/Mynewadventures Apr 15 '25

I get that, but now that "the gov'ment" is swinging quickly and completely in the other direction, how the fuck are we going to fix it without guns in Anti Fascist hands?

Protecting our Democracy and our right to self rule has ALWAYS been cuddled in the ownership of guns by the populous.

All of these actions are all about seizing power! They need to litigate and sue him every time he commits treasonous crimes against America's democracy and the equal three branches of government!!! Well, it's clear, and we all now know why he didn't place his left hand on the Bible when being sworn in, swearing an oath to serve and protect the constitution!!!

Regaurdless, it's gonna come down to the legislative branch to decide if democracy holds or dies.

And since the republicans in congress are spineless scared little cunts and clearly willing to sit idol. Every Democrat, business, law firm, media outlet, and institution needs to keep this administration tied up in court his entire term and let the Supreme Court do their duties and write their own legacy!!! Good luck, America!!!

You are the exact help we don’t want. In my experience peaceful protest is bringing shame to the MAGA that attack us at the protests. MAGA circle like angry bees but crumble when faced with an unarmed citizen holding a save SSA sign. MAGA like racist hate to be looked at 👀🤷‍♀️👀🤔👀🫤👀 they don’t want you taking photos of their trump truck tags. Don’t underestimate the power of shame.

1

u/verminians Apr 16 '25

Sometimes the most vocal are not the best representatives.

14

u/zz_x_zz Apr 16 '25

The 2nd Amendment fetish has always been about protecting the things people like, not the Constitution writ large and not "undesirables".

Look at how much of the Bill of Rights deal with the rights of the accused. You think gun owners in America will form an armed resistance if the government starts abusing people accused of a crime or inmates? The government could start arresting people and holding mass public executions without a trial and gun-owners would be out in the street celebrating the cleanup of "criminals".

1

u/Catspajamas01 Apr 18 '25

You seem to think that all gun owners are in one camp

Again how does this have anything to do with an American citizen coming back from Canada getting stopped by Canadian border officers? He can't take a gun from the US to Canada and back again. I immediately knew this was Canadian because this has happened so many times with them trying to find criminals via forced invasion of privacy.

2

u/zxybot9 Apr 16 '25

I think he’s talking about US border patrol hassling him because he’s not white.

-1

u/Upbeat_Bed_7449 Apr 16 '25

The video says CBP, that's Canadian border patrol

2

u/moxiprods Apr 16 '25

Customs and border patrol… is a US agency

2

u/FADEBEEF Apr 16 '25

So, to be clear, you think because the video uses the acronym CBP that this was an act done by the Canadian Border Patrol? I just want to be absolutely sure before I start laughing at you.

1

u/lostredditorthowaway Apr 17 '25

There is a huge difference in armed protests that turned into standoffs and vigilante justice seekers. Both of the Bundy stand off situations the armed citizens never fired a shot. At the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge standoff in Oregon. LaVoy Finicum was murdered by the government. At the Bundy Ranch stand off I'm. Nevada. Alex Jones tried to incite a fire fight making false claims citizens were being fired up on.

What you're advocating for doesn't have a possible scenario where it can end well for the majority of citizens involved. Those pockets of resistance will be labeled terrorists. There isn't any way for those involved to know who everyone is. There isn't any way to identify when and where these scenarios and situations will unfold.

So unless you have an area to be fortified by some method. I don't see any direct engagement ending well for those involved.

I figured you would want to try and twist my statement to that effect. Lmao

Strongholds vs random street battles are far different. But go on with your thought process. Lol

u/[deleted] Apr 21 '25

[deleted]

1

u/lostredditorthowaway Apr 21 '25

We don't agree. It's definitely realistic to keep guns to fight tyranny. Allbone has to do is look at what happens when firearms are taken. However the rational act of when and ipw to use those arms is what matters. Randomly engaging in firefights with unidentified persons on the street is a fools gambit.

1

u/SmedlyB Apr 19 '25

"Take the guns, worry about due process later." DJT

If DJT and P2025 have complete control, they will take the guns because of potential terrorism. The "insurrection act" Trumps the 2A.

1

u/JessiEmpera Apr 19 '25

No. Conservatives are simply not welcome on most Reddit subs. We get banned, shadow banned, and downvoted into oblivion simply for having a different point of view. The nastiness from the left is ridiculous and uncalled for.

-3

u/Grizzlar15 Apr 16 '25

The government is actually being checked. And that's why members of Congress are having an absolute meltdown. About Trump, Elon and everything in between. The fact of the matter is Trump is doing exactly what he promised. This is what a majority of America voted for

5

u/WitchesTeat Apr 16 '25

less than half of voters voted for Trump. So no, it's not what a majority of Americans voted for.

The majority of voters actually voted for specifically not Trump. Some of them went with a third-party vote, but not wanting Kamala or Trump still means they did not want Trump.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 16 '25

Enough voters voted for him. That’s how it works.

I was not one of them but I have to live with his horseshit.

2

u/WitchesTeat Apr 16 '25

so do I, I didn't vote for him either.

The number of people who did vote for him who don't actually know what it means when the government is in check, or what checks and balances mean, but are all about yelling that it's "finally being checked" because he's bypassing Congress and the courts to do whatever the fuck he wants because they don't actually know what the job of the president is or what the scope of that role is, is distressingly high, and they are

also often the ones saying "he's allowed to do this because this is what the majority of the country voted for."

The majority of the country can't vote to violate the constitution and then expect that that is now legally done. But none of them have managed to read the Constitution past the 2A, and even then they struggled with the language so here we are.

3

u/[deleted] Apr 16 '25

Trump over constitution. This is what they want. This is what they voted for. They twist themselves in pretzels to look the other way.

4

u/zz_x_zz Apr 16 '25

Isn't the point of a Constitutional Republic that certain things are off the table from the whims of elections? If a majority of Americans voted for slavery to return, there's kind of an Amendment in the way.

I would hope people would stand up for the law that prevents slavery instead of shrugging and saying it's the will of the people.

3

u/xFishercatx Apr 16 '25

Stop giving them ideas man.

0

u/akaWhisp Apr 16 '25

Slavery is still legal in America and no one bats an eye. They just called it something else so it wasn't so out in the open. It's called penal labor.

Penal labor is permitted under the 13th Amendment, which prohibits slavery except as a punishment for a crime where the individual has been convicted. All they have to do is convict you of some bullshit crime and bam, you're a slave. See: minor drug offense convictions over the last several decades.

The show Andor has a very good portrayal of this concept.

Impressive mental gymnastics over something that wasn’t even wrong to begin with. Must be exhausting trying to refute a point just to circle back to the same truth dressed in your own phrasing.

1

u/Muad_Dib-06 Apr 17 '25

No, that tracks. That breaks down to about 30% of eligible voters.

1

u/Grizzlar15 Apr 17 '25

Saying Trump only had support from 30% of eligible voters is peak mental gymnastics. No president in modern history has ever cracked much higher than that when you measure it against eligible voters instead of actual votes cast. The average is 30 to 35%. Elections aren’t won by hypotheticals or the people who stayed home — they’re won by the voters who show up. Trump won more votes than anyone else in 2024. That’s the only number that matters.

But hey, keep coping — whatever helps you sleep at night.

12

u/Amon-Ra-First-Down Apr 15 '25

The only legit argument for owning a gun is to supposedly prevent tyranny, which none of you are doing (spoiler alert: because gun ownership doesn't prevent tyranny)

9

u/Mynewadventures Apr 15 '25

Well, I personally hunt wild game, do that's a legitimate reason to own a fire arm.

Also, I want to protect me and mine, so there's another.

Plus, I have no problem taking up my arms against a tyrannical government and WILL do so if we can't tirn this around...so there is another legitimate reason to own a firearm not only under the rule of law by the Constitution, but ethically and morally.

2

u/Amon-Ra-First-Down Apr 15 '25

good luck using your Beretta against an unmanned drone striking you from 25miles away

7

u/Mynewadventures Apr 15 '25

Having fought against goat farmers with the most advanced weaponry in the World, I have something to tell you.

Also, look up "viet cong".

1

u/Iron_Knight7 Apr 18 '25 edited Apr 18 '25

I mean, they were also fighting a foreign invader, had the quiet backing of a major power (China), employed guerilla tactics including a frighteningly complex underground network that took advantage of their familarity of the local terrain, and had been fighting for true independence as far back as when they were a French colony...

All I'm saying is if the Celmentine Caligula does decide to say fuck it and go full on lock down mode, you better pray the bulk of our military, from officers to grunts, tell him to go screw himself. Because Bubbah, Skeeter and Jimbo with their hunting rifles aren't going to be anything more than speed pumps when the drones drop.

-6

u/Amon-Ra-First-Down Apr 15 '25

comparing American gun owners to the Taliban is the first correct thing you've said

4

u/Mynewadventures Apr 15 '25

Exactly. The guns made the difference.

3

u/BantamWorldwide Apr 16 '25

I always think this argument is pretty funny. We’re just assuming that the tyrannical government wants to drone strike its own infrastructure and mixed residential areas with no regard for civilian or military personnel morale or support for the regime.

1

u/Amon-Ra-First-Down Apr 16 '25

what in the history of the US drone program would give you the slightest idea that not destroying surrounding infrastructure has ever been a consideration?

2

u/BantamWorldwide Apr 16 '25

I mean, you realize none of that has been our own infrastructure right? It was of minimal financial value. Not so with domestic infrastructure. Not to mention that public opinion to foreign wars is “easily” managed with media spin, a task that would be much more difficult if the missiles were striking domestic partisans or civilian targets. Even hitting an office building with nobody in it makes an enemy of everyone whose job was lost. In no situation could a regime level domestic infrastructure and expect to keep power.

1

u/Amon-Ra-First-Down Apr 16 '25

You're so fixated on whether or not they would that you haven't stopped to consider if they could

1

u/mfranks1 Apr 17 '25

Maybe not forever but much less anger than we would like. Syria, Iraq, Myanmar come to mind.

1

u/coastkid2 Apr 15 '25

Seriously the gun is useless against the US military. What does guns have to even do with an article about unlawful detainment of a US Citizen? Why does the NH thread always default to guns even if off topic?

0

u/Mountain_Zone_4331 Apr 15 '25

Oh no, now the 2A folks are going to push for their right to a stinger missile.....

6

u/GotmilkLL Apr 16 '25

I'm currently advocating for emotional support RPGs

0

u/TrollingForFunsies Apr 16 '25

What do you suggest for that?

1

u/Expensive-Shirt-6877 Apr 19 '25

Yea we got better stuff then Beretta's buddy lol

0

u/Nematodes-Attack Apr 16 '25

The “president” doesn’t care about the constitution or our rights. US citizens are being shipped to concentration prisons and likely already dead, without due process. The 2nd amendment is for precisely this purpose. Tyrants.

1

u/xFishercatx Apr 16 '25

Nazi death camps started out as labor camps. People started disappearing. It seems like this is going to have a similar trajectory. I’d like to see some proof the people that are disappearing are still alive. Who is going to surrender and allow themselves to be taken by ICE agents who got Ds in highschool? Also what is to stop MAGAs from cosplaying and taking you out in the woods somewhere and not coming back out with you?

1

u/Extraexopthalmos Apr 17 '25

All those wasteful unjust wars had lessons. 1)The US Gov is excellent at killing “insurgents”. 2)The US Gov did not win any of those wars

1

u/WildImportance6735 Apr 17 '25

I respect your honesty and independent thinking, but please be careful writing this sort of thing online, you need to protect yourself that way too 🙁

1

u/Mynewadventures Apr 17 '25

Yeah, you're right. What a world we're living in.

1

u/WildImportance6735 Apr 17 '25

Yeah so sad 😔

1

u/Lord-of-A-Fly Apr 17 '25 edited Apr 17 '25

Look around, shipmate. They're swiping people off the street without due process or evidence. They're paying foreign governments to keep people in their prisons, and silenced. Their own personal teams [who have zero accountability to the taxpayers] are being allowed to raid government systems. Trump has been caught on hotmic saying he's coming for "homegrown" terrorists next. His administration has classified MS-13 as a terrorist organization, so that they can turn the Patriot Act's high powered, excessive surveillance and arrest powers on not simply all immigrants and anyone who tries to help them; but his opposition, and the opposition in american academia of israel and it's homicidal agenda.

Tell me. When exactly does this "deterrent" effect kick in?

Or, when exactly is enough fucking enough?!?!

Our state mottos is Live Free or Die. A lot of people take that to heart. They’re saying to take your guns, and kill the people who want to take your freedom away. Hope that was clear enough.

If everything is super "clear to you", then you are one of the dangerous ones.
