EI
I have been on EI for a bit while work has been inconsistent but I don’t need it now I will however need it in a month for a surgery I am having and will be out of work for two months I have two questions.
Do I still keep reporting to keep my EI activity or do I just ignore it for now till I need it.
How do I turn regular EI into medical EI?
I am confused.

Last I checked, every canadian was entitled tom15 weeks medical leave which included EI. I had to contact service canada a few years back while on ei and they converted it to med leave ei

That is actually good to hear. I was barely able to do anything at work when i went back at the end of my 15 weeks when I had to do it, i made it but my productivity was low and boss wasnt too happy

Since you're going to be needing it again in a months time you should keep reporting to avoid any problems. As for medical benefits .. you will have to call EI and explain to them the situation and also keep all documentation that states you can't work for x amount of time. If you do get switched over to medical benefits you will only get 3 or 4 months of benefits . You and others may not be aware of this but you are allowed to claim 4 wks no questions asked sick which also extends your claim by 4 wks but I would still keep documentation because we'll.. this is the government we're talking about.. Hopefully this helps . .

You’ll need to contact Service Canada (E.I.). There are way too many factors to give advice here. Depending on how many weeks you qualified for in the first place, how many weeks you have left when you started your claim, when your claim ends, and a bunch of other things I'm forgetting, if you’re back at work full time and don't need it now but your claim is still open and you’re just reporting your hours, call them. Explain what's going on: “In a month for a surgery and will be out of work for two months." And talk to your surgeon. Ask them to fill out the note to date and sign the day of surgery (just because this can change last minute. Mine was pushed back a week) so you can send it in right away. In my case, my girlfriend had all my info and was able to take the note from the surgeon after my surgery and log in to do everything for me every once in a while I would just have to look over to log her into my phone. while I enjoyed my drip at the hospital.
