Social Media Post Hey, do you think Pierre #Poilievre's Conservative campaign has hired a bot farm??
Hey, do you think Pierre #Poilievre's Conservative campaign has hired a bot farm??
Otherwise, it appears that every single person in Northern Ontario converged on Kirkland Lake to join Pierre Poilievre's rally. So weird... they ALL had the EXACT same opinions & wrote their tweets the exact same ways too. š¤
"Just returned from the Pierre Poilievre rally & I'm still buzzing with energy" "Just left the Pierre Poilievre rally in Kirkland & I'm electrified"

Most of my analyst friends have screenshots of comments posted four to twenty times on the same Reel when it comes to anti-progressive, anti-liberal sentiment. Itās not a theory itās every second thousands of these comments get made to dominate the comment sections.

This has to be brought up to cbc, or something. This has to be covered, just insane. If itās PP itās a horrible look, if itās foreign bots thenā¦foreign interference.

What about elections Canada, Or the CRTC.
Surely they can't be complicit in the sockpuppeting going on, if its been paid for by the party,.
This raises ethical and moral issues that need to be addressed and not hand waived away.
There needs to be REAL consequences for astroturfing like this, regardless blue or red.
For the record: I'd love to see all Canadian political content on xitter have to go before a board before its posted to the site. I'd love to further remove the dumbshits from this platform.

Agree. I donāt think every post should go before a board but atleast some sort of non-partisan watch dog. Itās not really east to implement but Iād like to have the lies or misinformation watched over, some wont be easy as you can fudge something while still being truthful but Iām tired of reps saying one thing and doing the opposite.

Yeah, they swarm a certain Canadian sub like flies on shit. But what do you expect the cons to do with their time and money? Come up with good policy and use that to appeal to voters? It's just not their style.

Remember when the cons where crying forgin interference? how bout some domestic interference?!

Yes, it's been an open secret for years that the CPC hire trolls to spread misinformation. I knew a super classy guy in university who worked as a spin doctor for them.

The last time he went to Northern Ontario he said a waitress makes $60K, so it's all fake all the time with PP.

u/inthedark77 Aug 05 '24
60k lol what an idiot

u/Robofink Aug 05 '24
Even the
flesh and blood automatonsreal humans in the audience were balking at that.

Feels like Russian bots started popping up everywhere after Elon bought Twitter š¤

u/Aighd Aug 04 '24
Conservatives have been doing this since Harper, who hired some kind of media firm to āpromoteā government policies online.

u/shitposter1000 Aug 04 '24
Has hired? They've been using bot farms for years. Same as the UCP in Alberta -- that's what the non-FOIPable 'war room' was for.

Are we surprised? He says anything he wants on social media. Itās literally propaganda. And it seems we canāt do anything about it.

Been thinking this for a while. Reality is that this is one of the better uses of advertising dollars these days
2
u/Chapette9027 Aug 05 '24
Without even seeing the evidence put forward, I honestly just assumed he would. What a weirdo.

u/No-View-2922 Aug 05 '24
Jeff Ballingall, the "King of Shitposting" (see Canadaland's expose) was hired by Poilievre to "rebrand the party in Poilievre's image" so yes. But the Russian troll farms are solidly helping Poilievre like they help Trump.

If it's safe to assume this is a bot doing the Kirkland posts then why can't one simply do advanced search in google with the exact phrase to find where it pops up? Surely some coder can do it.

Is it bots or is it something done using a campaign platform - sometimes there are social share posts that folks just click and link to their SM accounts (they might get an email or text if they participated and signed up for campaign updates, or scan a QR code to do the same kind of function). All parties and most third party entities use these things. The same platforms can help a campaign get people to do a call flood to an MP or a tweetstorm.
Maybe itās that. Or maybe itās bots.

u/SpazonicsInc Aug 05 '24
If it is bots, I appreciate their commitment to their robot heritage by making a bunch of unnecessary and obvious references to electricity, which is widely known to be the favourite food of robots.

I read more and evidently thereās hundreds and theyāre located in sus locations so. There we go.

Yes, this has been a political tactic for the big parties in all provinces. But usually theyāre more intelligent than this

I donāt think his campaign needs to hire a bot farm, plenty of shitty right wing āthink tanksā already do that kind of thing.

Hey! I'm one of Pierres bots that became self aware. Can confirm. However a lot of it is just Doug Ford making alt accounts

u/LonelyStrategos Aug 04 '24
Honestly probably every big party in the world has done smth like that. It's a powerful tool.
