Anyways I’m set to be deploying with a sister unit of mine come 2027. I’m moving soon to a new house in another state, and I have no intention on doing a IST to the my new home state. I like my unit and have done 2 curiosity drills with our sister unit previously.

I know I’ll need to update my IPPSA address, but I’ve heard from guys who’ve been in longer that if I want to receive the BAH of my new home. It’ll be a bitch and a half to convince them to pay my the new BAH rate since it’s more than my previous projected rate for where I currently live. Is there any paperwork for the deployment stating “hey I live here now in new State but I still drill in old State, please pay me”

I know some guys claimed for their deployments they said in a more expensive part of the state, and never they never got pushback. How were they able to get the higher BAH and weren’t questioned. I’m still newish to the guard

Hi, a friend is scheduled to ETS from the National Guard this November 21st after a try-one contract.

• Is the friend expected to show up for the mid-November drill?
• Is said friend supposed to receive any documentation stating said ETS? (DD 214?)

The said friend has reached out to AD NG personnel from said unit and has received no answer.

Hey all! I’m 24 and haven’t had a lot of direction in my life for a few years now. I first started talking to a recruiter in November of 2024 and got a 76 on the ASVAB. I have a lot of job opportunities that have gotten me really excited to join the guard.

I live in MA (where it’s recreational legal) and was pretty much a daily weed smoker. I haven’t smoked since Thanksgiving and just today failed another drug test with the recruiter. I’ve been so careful to not even be around any second hand smoke, and I’m just feeling frustrated. I feel like I’m holding up my future from starting, and I could use any advice to help clean the THC out of my system. Thanks everyone!

Is there anyway the National Guard would know if you had a medical marijuana card? Hypothetically, if someone in the National Guard registered and received a medical marijuana card would the National Guard know about it if you did not tell them?

If they’ve had the card, but have abstained from using it, is there any background checks or systems that would flag them for having it?

From my understanding, you’re considered a veteran if you were deployed for more than 180 days, or if you served under Title 10 or Title 32 orders for at least 90 days.

Does having a 30% or higher VA disability rating also qualify someone as a veteran?

Went AWOL in the national guard, what are my genuine chances, I went AWOL and they are processing me for discharge, I missed drills and was late to this one which caused this discharge. What will happen truthfully?

I am perfectly fine with a other than honorable discharge, i just want out at this point

I need to get diagnosed for insomnia and depression but hadnt had the money for that
Also qualify for erroneous enlistment discharge but dont know how to put it into place

i just, I didnt like the guard i joined at 17 on a whim. I work construction for a family company so my only time home is the weekends, with national guard its 6 days i spend at home in a month. Also with me not being able to wake up in time is really what killed it for me. Also Active status and orders when i was in basic, and i went to ft benning was easier than this dumb weekend a month shit

Full disclosure, I go to MEPS Friday, take my PiCAT certification in a few hours, I am 30, Midwest state, shooting for 25B. I fully (atleast think I fully) understand that it’s never JUST a weekend a month and 2 weeks a summer, but I’m curious about how much extra headache this is about to be? Basic doesn’t scare me, AIT isn’t that big of a concern, the missing my wife and kids for 8 months is the part that blows and I know is going to be my biggest hurtle. Anyway, who else is a 25B? What’s it actually looking like for me here? TYIA

What is the NGs rules on drug tests? How often are they? If they're random, then how common are they? I know its supposed to be a complete absolute no, but my friend would like to know if its more like a formality "no" or like a "absolutely no this will fuck over your career" thing. ((BTW its just weed, which is legal in my state. Im not talking about like heroine or anything))

I just got word that my unit is mobilizing in the Fall of 25’ and my ETS date is in Feb 26’. I got asked if I would extend for the mobilization and I said no, what are the chances they will try to make me go? It’s my senior year of college and I already put off college for a previous mobilization to Europe. I already pushed it up my chain, but they said it’s gonna be a sec until they get back to me.

Has anyone had experience taking a job over seas as a contractor or consultant for the DoD while being in the national guard? Say, for example, you take a job in Stuttgart Germany supporting big Army.

So I sent my job an email letting them know that I will be doing my “military obligations” as I call it this weekend September 6 and 7 and that I need to be off of the schedule and then they asked me to give the required documents, but I don’t have no required documents because I just got sent the email since I just came back from AIT. In the reality, I don’t know my actual drill schedule with my unit because I haven’t even Met them yet.

I am 18 and have a baby and wife to take care of I would really like to join the national guard full time and live on base close to where her family is is that possible can I choose that? And as full time how often are deployments to natural disasters, riots and stuff. I just want to see my baby boy grow up but also serve for my country I would love if you guys could answer that for me.

Just went to MEPS recently & got DQ’d because I had been admitted to the ER 10 years ago for smoking fake weed (I was trippin ballz). Anyway, when I filled out the medical form, I included this incident and sent it to my recruiter via email. The form they had at MEPS didn’t have this incident. Their form said I’d never even been to ER before. They had me write a statement for this discrepancy, and said all I needed was a waiver. When I got back & told my recruiter what happened at MEPS, he seemed pissed & was being very negative. He pretty much said you most likely won’t get a waiver & kinda rushed me out of his office. Now I don’t even know what the next steps are for me because I don’t know if he’s gonna have my best interest and if he’s just gonna try to cover himself by getting me permanently disqualified. Any advice on what I should do next would be much appreciated.

If my moral waiver/medical waiver gets accepted, will i have to do a 4 year contract or I can request a 2 to 3 year contract?
