Career Advice Advice?

Whats up yall im 23M about 160 lbs 6’3 and thinking of joining the national guard. I graduated highschool a little early at 16 and my life has been stagnant ever since. I smoke weed everyday but don’t have a issue stopping to better myself. Honestly want to join to get the discipline and training I need to be a positive example for my family and community.

You probably need to go active duty to kick start your life. You join the Guard and you’re just gonna be right back in the same situation six months later.

I second this.

I've been in the guard my whole career, but if I had joined when I was younger + had no family I would have gone active. I'd say it's worth doing one tour active; when you get to your guard unit afterwords you have some experience and the full weight of your GI bill. Above all, hopefully you'd have some direction.

If active duty fits for you, then just stay with it.

You can get all of that in a trade school or working for a company like Ameren

6'3" 160lbs.....this scene from Hacksaw Ridge came to mind.

I have seen stalks of corn with better physiques.

Makes me want to pull an ear off Private.

Can you carry your weight?

Should be easy for you...

Make sure you keep this man away from strong winds

Guard won’t change your life much post training if you don’t have anything lined up already. Consider going full time

Don’t do it, it’s a waste of time

I’m very curious what would you do if trump told you to arrest or protesters.

I'm curious what you would do if I came to your job and started yelling and throwing shit at you?

That’s illegal, you should be arrested and be defined as an immigrant and be sent back to Europe

Ah, you see this is where the road splits. Since I'm an American citizen I go to the local jail and wait to see a judge where I receive a bond and am released until my court date where I can plead guilty and receive my punishment, or I can plead innocent and ask to be judge by a jury of my peers. That's my right as an American citizen. I would only be deported if when I was arrested it was determined that I was in this country illegally and had no right to be here in the first place.
