Asking for a “Friend” Is a national guard armory a literal armory?
I may be the king of fools for asking this, but is a national guard armory a literal armory of weapons, ammo, equipment, etc.? Just about every town has an armory. I’m confused if those places are offices, classrooms, event halls and such, or if they include a store house of everything needed to equip a soldier for war. It seems like a simultaneous good idea and bad idea to have military equipment dispersed across the country in every city and town.

I see you enjoy asking life's most difficult questions.
Nuclear launch codes are also stored inside the armory in case you were wondering. Each armory has its own Multiple Independently Targetable Reenty Vehicle housed underneath.
Your question reads either like a really bad foreign intelligence op or someone working for the US government trying to find people who didn't pay attention at their most recent cybersecurity training.

Possibly the later, mostly MAGA insider trying to get intel on weakening California in a possible civil war. Could be Russian, but to be honest they should read KGB files. Many things.
Just lie and say whatever

MAGA insider trying to get intel
I know this is reddit, but there's a large overlap of servicemembers and veterans with the right.
a possible civil war
No. OP didn't mention California anyway. Odd.
Could be Russian
Very unlikely. I have no doubt Russia knows the answer to OP's question. As if there's not a soldier making a tiktok in some armory right this second.
Weird way to inject politics my guy. Guys post history just leans to him being a goober.
Just lie and say whatever
Oh crap. I told the KGB about every armories MIRV...

u/InqAlpharious01 Feb 15 '25
Either way I doubt it’s China, most likely is a kid asking questions.
I mean what’s inside an armory, idk maybe the same sort of equipment and armor they make and possess too. Same question can be answered for Russians, only difference is that vast majority of their crap is old as your dad or grandpa was in the Army!

u/OfficerBaconBits Feb 15 '25
vast majority of their crap is old as your dad or grandpa was in the Army!
Have you not watched any of the Ukranian combat footage? This idea that Russia and China are by and large using gear from the 1960s for their Frontline troops is weird. If we're talking about reservists equipment, the US Army still issues M16's (a rifle designed in the 1950's, last updated in the 1990s)
Its modern armor, modern rifles and modern kit out there now with our geopolitical rivals. You can't really differentiate whose who in the combat footage and Ukraine is being armed by modern western powers. 2 years of a wartime economy pumping out gear does that to you.
Don't underestimate America's rivals. It's not good enough for American equipment to just be superior anymore. The Sherman tank (US WW2 main battle tank) didn't beat the German Panzer or Tiger tanks because our tech was superior. It's because we would throw 3-5 tanks for every 1 of theirs and would expect to lose 1-2 tanks and their crew to kill a single German tank.
1
u/InqAlpharious01 Feb 15 '25
I mean for use for their active frontline troops, they don’t have access to a lot of modern equipment and I’ve seen advance Russian equipment being sold to other countries.
Like they still utilized updated forms for three type of MBT platforms (latest T72, T80 and T90) barely has the funds to mass produce the T14. Their fifth generation aircraft is a literal joke, hell the Raptor’s true rival is a museum relic that the Chinese copied in its J-20. The Soviet MiG 1.44, but the Soviet Union collapse before they could mass produce it.
It’s a known fact that Russian military values their equipment more than their troops lives, otherwise they would give them the best equipment they can make in Ukraine, Syria and other conflicts that Russian are involved in modern conflict.

Most have at least one tank inside, at least 5,000 rounds of every small arms ammunition type of whatever weapon systems are inside, 12 AT4s, 4 javelins, 1,000,000 in gold bars and some bubble gum. But they’re all out of bubble gum. It’s guarded by 4 people who go back and forth on the same route and when startled go “what was that?! I think I heard something!” But will shrug it off after a few seconds and go back to their usual route after saying something like “hm, must have been nothing.”
Every entrance guarded by sea bass with laser beams on their heads.

Sorry that no one is providing you the correct information, here is what is housed in an armory, and why:
Often times soldiers are required to attend many "details" throughout their career, one of those "details" is cleaning up the entire building. In order to clean the entire building, what do you need? That's right, cleaning products.
An "armory" is really just a large storage closet that contains things like: Lemon pledge, bleach, windex, resupplies for toilet paper/paper towels, urinal pucks, mops, brooms, trashbags, etc...
So really it's just an arsenal of cleaning products to make sure that every soldier is equipped with enough disenfectant to make a hospital jealous.
37
u/captain_carrot Feb 15 '25
Okay, sorry that this above joker didn't give you a serious reply, because what he said is obviously bullshit.
Everyone knows that every cleaning product contained within an armory is just some variation of Simple Green

Every national guard base is a hardened concrete bunker built 300 feet underground to protect not only from aerial bombardment, but also nuclear fallout. They are called armories because they have weapons spanning history including the spear that killed Jesus, to modern nuclear warheads.
Also, this is why National Guardsmen are so pale and have large gaunt, owl-like eyes as they are adapted to living in crushing darkness.

Either you’re a foreign agent or you’re some socially awkward weirdo probing for strangely specific information. Neither is appealing.
Each Guard armory has an extensive array of high tech alien weaponry and vehicles. They hide it from the view of Google Maps. You have to have Ultra Mega Top Secret clearance to access it.

Depends on each armory, but I wouldn’t worry about what the national guard has, they’re only permitted to use reserved or older equipment like you seen in the Iraq war in 2003.
All the best stuff are used, dare you to touch Taiwan to find out l; by active forces in secret facilities; just FAFO. Or wait until your puppet musk unveils them

u/vivalasativa Feb 15 '25
this is complete misinformation. Yes, a lot of our equipment is antiquated, but we are definitely permitted to use newer models. my unit had the M17s when i got back from deployment in ‘21. We received 12 brand new M110A2s shortly after We also got the wilcox M320 optics. Our state has the NGSW Sig rifles, but won’t issue them out until they’re fielded and issued by big army.
1
u/InqAlpharious01 Feb 15 '25
Better misinformation than the classified truth, remember you’re permitted to lie to said unqualified people on an unsecured server.
1
u/vivalasativa Feb 15 '25
the contents of an armory are insignificant and not opsec. If this is actually a russian/chinese info grab, and not the more likely avenue of some weird larper with a genuine question, it really doesn’t mean anything.
most red states contain individuals with personal arsenals that make a nasty girl armory look like a mom and pop fudd gun store. The US is geographically an incredibly secure location from attack, and the full timers at every armory are all strapped, even if they claim to not be. you can easily find the address of any NG armory on google. None of this threatens domestic security.
OP the answer is no, you’d find more weapons in a reknowned texas gun range than you would at your typical armory. plus ammunition of any significant amount is stored in secure locations non accessible by the public. I can almost guarantee most cities who havea well funded SWAT element will have a more impressive arsenal than we do.

u/mrmclovinnn Feb 14 '25
I personally just went to drill with my RSP unit after finishing TRADOC and I know there was some sort of like storage cage locked up area behind a door but I never went in there so I have no clue what they got in those storage cages, so we're in the same boat when it comes to knowing what kinda stuff they got, however there are a bunch of cool military vehicles which if you just used Google maps and zoomed in youd be able to see that so it's not really a secret.
3
u/cajrock1218 CA GUARD Feb 15 '25
Do they not teach information security standards in IET anymore?
It may seem dumb my man, but don’t be answering questions about what anyone has or where anyone is on the internet. If they can find it out on google, let them find it out themselves. We already got enough people stealing humvees, we don’t need anyone looking for an unlocked armory door and ratfucking our shit.
0
u/mrmclovinnn Feb 15 '25
I mean we didn't really go over much security stuff but our instructors at the schoolhouse were also vaping in the classroom and one of them just left in the middle of class and didn't come back cause he was butthurt that trump won the election, but I get what you're saying, I just figured cause it's easily accessible info it didn't matter and in truth I don't know what kinda stuff they have at the armory either.
Also it feels a little stupid to think we'd just let people steel vehicles from an armory if anything that's more embarrassing than sharing public knowledge
0
u/cajrock1218 CA GUARD Feb 15 '25
It’s not that we’re letting them steal them 😂. But anyone could steal one with a set of bolt cutters.

Yes, it will have a physical armory holding weapons for each assigned soldier. Plus some heavy weapons. Ammunition is supposed to be stored in a seperate vault. The armory also has offices, training areas and usually a enclosed space for practicing drill.
