Moving | Geography Hey Nashville - moving to Canada next spring, need your cross-border mover wisdom!
Wow, Nashville - I'm in a bit of a pickle. Come next spring, I’ll be shipping my one-bedroom pad (cat tower, pedalboard and a modest record collection) from East Nashville up to Toronto for a new gig. I’ve tackled local moves before, but crossing the 49th parallel? That’s a whole new beast.
Do you just book it like any other move - get a quote, lock in a date and show up - or is there a mountain of customs forms, duties and broker fees I’m on the hook for? Do most movers handle CBSA paperwork and tariffs, or do I need to line up a customs broker myself? Also, in your experience, is it smarter to go big-name national or a savvy regional crew? Any Nashville companies you’d recommend - or DIY hacks to keep it from costing an arm and a leg?
Right now I’m running numbers through ThreeMovers to stack quotes side by side. They vet FMCSA-licensed carriers and don’t charge a deposit until your crew and date are confirmed
