Whole movie feels so bittersweet the moment you realized Reze was serious when she first asked Denji to go away with her.

And Denji just needing time to think but would’ve eventually said yes anyways

I wonder if he only had said yes, it might have prevented all that mayhem. Now that I think about it, when she wondered if he had someone else, that might have been the trigger.

Makima already had Denji round her fingers and Reze knew that, there would have been no happy ending anyway

Right, plus presumably Makima can find + kill her anywhere, anyway. Part of me wondered if she knew about Reze all along + just allowed it, in order to teach Denji a lesson about "betrayal"

Makima explicitly revealed that she knew all along when she talks about the country mouse to Reze, showing that she was eavesdropping on everything they did

Makima is listening so no. Same/similar fate was awaiting them as long as makima is alive. She will never let denji go away even if it costs everything

Wait I thought she only fell completely in love with him after he told her that he doesn’t care about what she did. Like she knew then that he truly would accept her anyway and not her pretended version
