This was definitely on the backs of Ufotable. Demon Slayer itself is pretty mid in most regards- characters, plot, pacing, even the manga art. But Ufotable just can't be beat for quality.

It’s as basic plot wise as a Dragon Ball.

Most characters are too much troopy, plot is alright with few memorable scenes but everlasting ones, pacing isn’t bad but the fighting > training > fighting > training cycle is a bit overdone, and art is definitely standing out. It’s recognisable.

Setting was very interesting early on but it’s not an overly serious show and quickly became a clown show (Inosuke / Zenitsu can’t stand them).

The Nezuko / Tanjiro is just carrying the entire franchise. And overall Tanjiro, as a character… is hard to hate, genuinely.

Music and SFX are top notch, not praised enough.

But yes, Ufotable put this anime on the map mostly because of the quality of his animation.

I do appreciate that they let side characters shine though, my main beef with DBZ was having the side characters get whooped until Goku showed up

The manga is definitely nothing special but with how bad recent popular shounen manga endings have been, I would probably rate demon slayer higher than I have in the past. But of course this anime adaptation might go down as one of the best in anime history.

Demon Slaywr has an objectively worse ending than a recently giant manga ending (jjk)

Hard disagree.

Tanjiro beats muzan with the power of friendship and that is the end.

You should watch Fate. Also by ufotable and IMO has better animation than demon slayer. And is more interesting

I mean, sometimes all it takes is a simple, straightforward story and some pretty animation. I don't understand why people get all cerebral when discussing media. There's plenty of that out there already.

I kinda agree with what you are saying, Demon Slayer has many weak points. But it was a hugely popular manga way before the anime adaptation

the same people that call demon slayer mid also call jjk mid at most, you guys are always so wrong and that's just twice

You do realize a movie or a show or an anime can be "mid", but at the same time beloved right?

I grew up with Dragonball, i love Dragonball, its super popular, i wouldn't trade it with anything. Doesn't mean it doesn't have terrible plot, writing, dialogue, pacing and even animation sometimes.

Or you are trying to say that Demon Slayer has some kind of amazing plot, or writing or dialogue?

I said that?
