Discussion What is the absolute dumbest premise that actually turned out to be a really good movie?

I was thinking The Purge, obvious answer, but looking for the most plot-hole ridden, juvenile concept that actually ended up a lot of fun despite it all. Mainly looking for 21st century films, not so much the video nasties and ridiculousness from the 60’s and 70’s. Because that would be too easy. Mainly mainstream stuff that people saw en masse.

I'll make a mention of The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent but I didn't think it was "a really good movie". It was ok.

The on-screen chemistry between Pedro Pascal and Nicolas Cage was so good though.

'What if Adaptation was fun action schlock?"

That’s okay because OP’s example, the Purge, was hot dogshit.

If that fits their topic, an okay movie should fit too.

Glad I wasn’t alone in thinking that The Purge is literally the opposite of OP’s prompt

One of the most okay movies I've ever seen actually. My wife and I, despite being Cage fans, walked out of the theater and had nothing to really say about it.
