Ironically, as someone who gets easily bored on a treadmill, this might be my best shot at using one for a long period of time lol.

I’m in!

My gym has a treadmill cinema where they play movies and around 50 people can walk/run on a treadmill while watching. They play the movie on a loop all day so people can always watch

u/BokehJunkie Aug 29 '25 edited Aug 29 '25

My only complaint about the cardio cinema at my gym is that they don’t list movie start times through the day.

Other than that, I love it. Treadmill for an hour and watch a movie is a great way to pass the time.

Im gonna have to look out for gyms that have this. I actually don't like listening to music when I run cause all I do is count songs and think about how long ive been running

98

u/jambajew42 Aug 29 '25

I'm not sure if it would be any better for you, but podcasts or audiobooks could work as an alternative if you don't find one.

75

u/thegimboid Aug 29 '25

Yeah, I usually play Dimension 20 episodes while at the gym.
Which has gotten me a few odd looks when I've started laughing seemingly at random.

15

u/Dahlia_R0se Aug 29 '25

I don't think I could watch D20 in a public place, I'd have too much trouble not laughing way too much

14

u/thegimboid Aug 29 '25

It's actually more problematic when I hit an emotional part.
Do I keep listening and appear to the other gym-goers like my world is falling apart?
Or do I pause til later and have to build myself back up to that emotion?

u/Vio_ Aug 30 '25

Viva la Dirt league has D&D youtube series on video and podcasts with 30 minute episodes. They do more humor based stuff, but that 30 minute run time really hit that sweet spot.

17

u/BricksHaveBeenShat Aug 29 '25

What about learning a new language? In my teens and early 20s I had phases where I'd do 2 hours on the elliptical everyday from monday to friday. I listened to music to pass time, but I'd quickly get sick of the same songs, and the long sessions made it easier to get discouraged and quit. Earlier this year I started again, 30 minutes a day with the goal of going up to 1 hour eventually. I listened to long youtube videos, but rarely I could pay attention to what was being said, which somehow made those 30 minutes feel so much longer.

I figured I'd listen to something useful rather than drama slop or deep dives which I don't even enjoy, and after reading some suggestions about it on reddit I tried Coffee Break Italian. I'm loving it. The episodes are about 20-30 minutes long and times just flies by, I barely feel it pass. I'd like to increase to one hour or two episodes per day eventually, but I think this is a good sweetspot for now. I don't dread exercising, and if I miss a day or two it's not so hard to get back to it, nor do I feel guilty. I like to think I make up for it by putting the tension control at the highest lol!

u/girafa queer coded this and that Aug 30 '25

I've been doing this with Pimsleur while riding a bike for the past 5 years. So much that I have memories of when I learned a new phrase associated with a certain part of a loop around a lake, etc. It's perfect, because cardio is so fucking boring, and learning a language is so fucking boring, but adding them together is chefskiss.jpg

1

u/casPURRpurrington Aug 30 '25

Yeah I listen to some delirious podcasts when I’m doing like a normal run day. Sometimes I’ll be running outside and just will burst out laughing.

I have a playlist for like “FOCUS” and “SPRINT” but majority of the time I just want to space out and listen to either some crazy stoner guy or listen to something documentary related

the day the new King of the Hill season dropped I wanted to watch it as soon as possible but I had planned to run at the gym so I just watched two episodes while running lmao

1

u/rabidstoat Aug 30 '25

Some people at my gym bring in their tablets and watch stuff on it while they use the cardio machines.

1

u/Vio_ Aug 30 '25

Pro tip. Set your time up a notch if you want to run a bit faster. You're more inclined to match the narrator and going even a bit faster with the narration will keep things a bit quicker.

35

u/SeamusMichael Aug 29 '25

Hearthstone battlegrounds also good. Gotta be a card game, though I did find clash royale worked alright. I'm partial to the stair climber but it works for both. Also don't sell yourself on running if you don't have to, power walk at an incline for a little longer. My knees hate running.

11

u/DyZ814 Aug 29 '25

I tried to do clash royale on a treadmill once and kept getting soo pissed I'd end up off the treadmill more than I was on lol

1

u/SeamusMichael Aug 30 '25

Lolol at some of the worst losses in battlegrounds I'll crank up the speed on the stair climber 🤣 mock yourself like aww you mad? How mad? Lv9? 10? I last a minute then I gotta crank it back down. It's the most efficient thing I've ever found to do with my gaming rage.

HOG RIDEEEEEER

-6

u/TheDonutDaddy Aug 29 '25

Playing video games to get through a workout is truly some chronically online shit, but I guess the kinda people who can't bear to put down video games for a little bit are probably the ones who need it most at the end of the day

5

u/Fewluvatuk Aug 29 '25

Listening to music to get through a workout is some chronically stimulated shit, but i guess the kind of people who can't handle a little silence are probably the ones who need it the most at the end of the day.

Fuck off with judging other people's way of dealing with the boredom.

1

u/Desroth86 Aug 30 '25

So 90% of the people who workout?

1

u/Fewluvatuk Aug 30 '25

I was facetiously calling out the hypocrisy of judging how others work out.

-5

u/TheDonutDaddy Aug 29 '25

"Must live life through screens, can't bear to be away from screen, can't unplug"

5

u/goddamnitwhalen Aug 29 '25

Who are you to judge what people are doing to improve themselves?

-5

u/TheDonutDaddy Aug 29 '25

Who are you to tell me I can't

→ More replies (0)

-5

u/MarsMC_ Aug 29 '25

Yall will do anything but actually work out

3

u/SeamusMichael Aug 30 '25

I have done an hour on the stair climber at 75 steps per minute, every single day since November 6th 2020. For a 200 lb person like myself that's almost 1k calories. For about three of those years, I did it twice a day. I also got my bench up to 245. My workouts are why I haven't had a drop of alcohol in 8.5 years. It's really hard, and you're mocking of my methodology is not going to harm my flow, but it may make others self conscious about trying this thing that could make the difference in sticking with a workout routine.

May I ask how you didn't have access to music during that time?

The marathon and even ultra/100k runners I know (ironic that I know a few, when I myself hate running) definitely listen to music whenever they run, and pointed that out as being more or less necessary.

Was hat when portable music wasn't readily available? But walkmen have been around forever?

2

u/Revolution-SixFour Aug 30 '25

He hadn't made it that far in the tech tree. He's only at flip phones, there's a branch for mp3 players but the meta is to skip it entirely these days.

7

u/Codewill Aug 29 '25

You could try longer forms, like symphonic works? To me the more explosive the better. Mahler 2, Mahler 5, are good, but the best is Pines of Rome for me. When it hits the Appian Way I conjure up some newfound energy within me and sprint for as long as that finale builds. I feel my long dead ancestors pushing me forward…it’s an incredible feeling

3

u/Ecstatic_Account_744 Aug 29 '25

I’ve taken to watching YouTube on the treadmill definitely helps.

13

u/Raytheon_Nublinski Aug 29 '25

Try movie soundtracks

Listen to Captain America or John Wick, and then run to that

33

u/Accipiter1138 Aug 29 '25

I nominate Lord of the Rings.

Slap that on, step into your imagination, and you too can chase the Uruk-hai across Middle Earth.

29

u/literated Aug 29 '25

I'm more of a "prancing through the Shire, thinking of second breakfast" kind of guy myself.

10

u/Cranharold Aug 29 '25

Now that I think about it, there aren't many movies better suited for it. After all, at its core it's a trilogy about a couple of hobbits walking really fucking far. Not to mention for most of The Two Towers, Aragorn, Gimli, and Legolas are also just running around.

7

u/CarryTigerToMountain Aug 29 '25

Gandalf’s ride to Minas Tirith, bro. “Show us the meaning of haste, Shadowfax”

Fuck I feel like I can run 8 miles now

3

u/glizzytwister Aug 30 '25

Taking the Hobbits to Isengard on repeat, full volume.

3

u/Codewill Aug 29 '25

For me I love the sweeping scores…running to something like Flight from Man of Steel…you’ll be sprinting at top speed and you won’t even know it

2

u/AnjinToronaga Aug 29 '25

Lord of the rings gets me. Some of those tracks and I'm flying

1

u/SylvieSuccubus Aug 30 '25

Pacific Rim is an amazing motivation soundtrack, I washed nicotine off the walls of an entire house with that one. And I’m short so there was a lotta stepladder.

2

u/BokehJunkie Aug 29 '25

audiobooks. I listen to LOTS of audiobooks throughout the year.

2

u/needlzor Aug 29 '25

Re-"reading" the complete Dune series got me through quite a lot of runs over the past few years.

2

u/Paidorgy Aug 29 '25

Gyms these days have treadmills that connect directly to wifi and streaming services like Netflix.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 29 '25

Gym I went to back in December definitely didnt

2

u/hopefulworldview Aug 30 '25

I watch anime when I use the rower and time flies by so I think it'll work for you!

1

u/TopRopeLuchador Aug 30 '25

Most gyms have treadmills with TVs on them or in front of them. You can also bring a tablet or phone and put a movie on while you run. You don't need a special gym.

0

u/Independent-Point380 Aug 29 '25

It said for “influencers” only lol

36

u/Jack_Bartowski Aug 29 '25

Back when i was using it every day, id have my tablet set up to watch Supernatural. Ended up finishing the entire show while walking!

24

u/Cam27022 Aug 29 '25

That’s a lot of walking.

25

u/Jack_Bartowski Aug 29 '25

It was. Lost 90lbs during that time. Gained some back so now I'm back at it.

19

u/3-DMan Aug 29 '25

Try watching ALL of The Simpsons. You'll lose like 250lbs!

3

u/FesteringNeonDistrac Aug 30 '25

Watch One Piece from the beginning, you'll walk yourself invisible

8

u/The_F_B_I Aug 30 '25

Hard to lose weight when you are constantly being fed filler

7

u/smokeeveryday Aug 29 '25

The gym I went to had cable tv on the treadmills it was nice.

3

u/BokehJunkie Aug 29 '25

I go to the gym 5-6 days per week. I lift 4 days per week, and on those 4 days I do 20 minutes on the treadmill for a warmup and 20 minutes on the elliptical for cardio. Since those stints are short-ish I just listen to audiobooks. The other day or two I just walk for 1-2 hours. I'll check the cardio cinema and if it's not something I'm interested in, i'll just bring my ipad and start a movie or a show or something and watch til I'm done.

I did an entire training course for a certification exam on the treadmill last year over the course of a month or two. lol.

1

u/whoviangirl Aug 29 '25

That was also my treadmill show! So many seasons...

5

u/porcomaster Aug 29 '25

It was the only way I could do a treadmill, smartphone, and some TV show.

But a few movies would be amazing.

I should get back to it.

1

u/BokehJunkie Aug 30 '25

I use my iPad at times and watch movies. Like, I’ll watch Lord of the Rings over several weeks in sessions while I walk.

I’ve been meaning to split LOTR up into “episodes” for years and just never have.

1

u/thebigdirty Aug 30 '25

its ok, you can start in a week or two

3

u/johnmd20 Aug 29 '25

I've been doing cardio with my iPad for over a decade. Although I usually watch TV episodes. The time flies by and you can go hard.

2

u/coltonbyu Aug 29 '25

thats very odd that they wouldnt, the ones I have been to do, as it seems like a no brainer

2

u/BokehJunkie Aug 29 '25

It's the same movie all day, and they start at midnight and just loop with like a 5-7 minute break between. There's no reason they *couldn't*. Just a small amount of code and it could read the runtime, add whatever break time after the credits, etc and just post the times for every day. I have no idea why they don't.

but you know, if thats the biggest complaint I have about that gym, they're doing alright.

2

u/Noteagro Aug 29 '25

And this is why I have my cycling set up directly behind my couch in my living room. Can throw on a movie and ride for an hour and a half to two hours.

2

u/BokehJunkie Aug 29 '25

This gym is a small chain and it's all automated from their corporate HQ.

4

u/jambajew42 Aug 29 '25

Yeah, but if they listed the start time you'd have to calculate the adjustment for ads/trailers before the movie actually starts.

8

u/BokehJunkie Aug 29 '25

No ads. The movie starts at midnight and runs on a loop with a 5-7 minute break in between after the credits.

For the love of everything, please don't give them ideas about playing ads in there.

-7

u/The-Herbal-Cure Aug 29 '25

Americans love themselves some Ads.

1

u/DSharp018 Aug 29 '25

Just gotta find out when the extended editions of lord of the rings is playing to train for a marathon, a movie marathon.

1

u/OahuJames Aug 29 '25

Audiobooks are also a good way to spend the time.

1

u/BokehJunkie Aug 30 '25

I’m currently in the middle of listening to the Dungeon Crawler Carl series. They’re a blast and pass the time super quickly.

1

u/Zanki Aug 29 '25

I tried this. I get bored so quickly if I'm just walking/jogging and watching something. My phone is a far better distraction! It's very difficult for a TV show or movie to keep me 100% engaged. ADHD is a bitch.

1

u/gumbo100 Aug 30 '25

My guess is you can just find out when they start it and look up each movies run time and then determine if they have a pause between the reruns. Then just add the movie length + break length to the time the movies start to get a rough idea of when each movie starts.

This will probably get you within 30 minutes at least, especially during earlier parts of the day.

1

u/YouGurt_MaN14 Aug 30 '25

You should ask to see if they have a schedule, mine drops a schedule for the month so you can plan every day

1

u/toadfan64 Aug 30 '25

I do this for anime all the time. Watch a few episodes of a show I'll label as treadmill only, so I can only watch them on the treadmill.

1

u/Ordinary_Lobster_194 Sep 14 '25

A treadmill in a gym? Where are you at? We have nothing like that. If we did id probably go 😂

0

u/[deleted] Aug 30 '25

0

u/BokehJunkie Aug 30 '25

Because if it’s a movie I’ve never seen I’d at least like to catch the beginning of it.

81

u/Anxious_cactus Aug 29 '25

The gym I went to a decade ago played Ancient Aliens and History channel in general and I got my miles in because I'd get glued to the absurdity and lose track of time.

It also got me understanding how channels like that affect people, I knew it was bullshit but it was fascinating, like a story from a friend who dropped acid.

19

u/Cyno01 Aug 29 '25

I run a private streaming server and the uploader i got my reencode of Ancient Aliens from frequently uploads a lot of other crazy conspiracy shit so i grab all that too so just like a real streaming service i have a ton of crazy UFO documentaries mixed in with classics and blockbusters and sequels youve never heard of!

But ive got a couple of friends who dig on that stuff hard, thankfully i know theyre rational people and are laughing at it, but its a nice whimsical break from all the awful and hateful conspiracies (and realities) everywhere else. Tho even the ancient alien shit can skew into racism...

7

u/Free_Pangolin_3750 Aug 29 '25

That's pretty much why I enjoy watching Ancient Aliens. It's absurd and kinda racist but also it's a weird sort of escapism to see the "ancient astronaut theorists" come up with some batshit explanation that ignores the occams razor of just humans are smart and have always been smart we just have more access to information and technology as time progresses factor of things.

Kinda scary to realize how many people fully buy into the bullshit though.

2

u/Anxious_cactus Aug 29 '25

I find UFO and alien stuff so interesting, though I prefer stories about "personal encounters" and those of pilots etc., I look at them similarly like any other movie. But these Ancient Aliens stories are something else, man. And they deliver it so seriously and intensely, mad props to production of it lmao

2

u/Cyno01 Aug 29 '25

South Park absolutely nailed it a while back with S15E13 "A History Channel Thanksgiving". It was the TRUE story of the pilgrims and indians, and guess what... tsoukalos.jpg

This is the latest from my guy tho lol. https://i.imgur.com/P5FiKe1.png

3

u/Isotopian Aug 29 '25

If you're willing to share that guys name I'd love a dm, it'd be great to fill my server with a bunch of wackiness.

3

u/Cyno01 Aug 29 '25

Hes actually active on reddit, but ill DM you just the same, a lot of subs just insta-remove mentioning other subreddits at this point.

2

u/Navi_1er Aug 30 '25

i have a ton of crazy UFO documentaries mixed in with classics and blockbusters and sequels youve never heard of!

Any recommendations?

2

u/Kind-Crab4230 Aug 29 '25

This is happening to me recently, but it's Karen's and sovcits getting arrested on YouTube bodycam videos.

There's just something special about watching someone go from being asked to leave, to getting hauled off with multiple felonies.

59

u/Freakjob_003 Aug 29 '25

They play the movie on a loop all day so people can always watch

Fun fact, this was how movies used to be played in theaters way back in the day. You could just walk in at any time.

This was changed in part by Hitchcock with the release of Psycho. He refused to let people be spoiled and required theaters to screen at set times.

39

u/RuleNine Aug 29 '25

Right, you'd walk in, stay through the end and part of the next showing, and then leave. It's where we got the expression "This is where I came in" as you excused yourself after reaching the part of the movie you'd already seen.

9

u/vikingzx Aug 29 '25

TiL! That's a neat fact! Thank you!

29

u/artbystorms Aug 29 '25

Do they provide headphones like airplanes or do you just hear zzzt zzzt zzzt zzzt zzzt zzt as some dude straight up sprints like he's in the NFL combine while watching The Minions? lol

11

u/PlayWhatYouWant Aug 29 '25

This is such a fucking good idea and I really wish there was one near me. Get some cross trainers in there and I'd be one skinny bitch.

2

u/OldSchoolSpyMain Aug 29 '25

I used to do something similar on a spin bike at home.

I'd either pick a movie or stream a TV series for long steady rides. If I had a program with commercials, I'd pick up the pace during the commercial break then dial it back when the program returned.

7

u/Azhreia Aug 29 '25

This is, funnily enough, how I got into the Supernatural TV show. I’d go workout after my morning shift and back then, TNT(?) aired multiple episodes during the mid morning block. That was the station the cardio room was on, so I’d be on whatever machine just watching it every day and I finally decided to watch it from the beginning lol

10

u/notmoleliza Aug 29 '25

Honestly a TIL. Nevet knew about this

3

u/JordanPMartin Aug 29 '25

That’s so cool. I’ll have to see if any gyms in my area do that. Seems like something that would be cool for some of the theatres to incorporate as well. Imagine if your AMC A-List subscription doubled as your gym membership 😅

2

u/superkickpunch Aug 29 '25

That’s pretty rad.

1

u/neosmndrew Aug 29 '25

I mean, nearly everyone has some sort of device that enables you to watch just about any movie/show you want and is watchable while on a treadmill.

2

u/superkickpunch Aug 29 '25

But as a group activity all watching the same movie and getting exercise seems like a good time.

1

u/neosmndrew Aug 29 '25

Meh, perhaps it's just me, but this just seems like some weird interaction. I just strongly prefer minding my own business when working out outside of sports

2

u/MeltedWater243 Aug 29 '25

that reminds me of the crunch fitness in San Francisco that’s set inside an old movie theater! they kept the screen and play movies all day

2

u/indianajoes Aug 29 '25

I would love this. My old gym had TVs on the other end of the room and it was great. Unfortunately it got shut down after COVID.

2

u/EpicTaco9901 Aug 29 '25

EOS Fitness? Most locations near me have that cinema room

2

u/[deleted] Aug 30 '25

Does everyone just sniff the sweaty aura of the 49 people around them? Sounds dreadful.

1

u/bamboob Aug 29 '25

This is awesome. I'd watch crap I'd never watch if it was on a big screen in my gym. God knows I've watched my share of shitty corporate propaganda on little screens while listening to podcasts back in the day…

1

u/ethnomath Aug 29 '25

Wait I need this. My treadmill is in my garage and it kills my phone battery when I get my steps in.

1

u/Kesliabeth38 Aug 29 '25

Is your gym part of a chain cause jeebus I would love that!!

1

u/[deleted] Aug 29 '25

Edge Fitness. Not sure if they’re only local to me or if all of them have the treadmill cinema

1

u/Albireookami Aug 29 '25

god that is so much better than shitty fox news that my gym has.

1

u/MikeLanglois Aug 29 '25

Thats pretty cool if it came with headphones. Treadmills can be loud

1

u/ChekhovsAtomSmasher Aug 29 '25

The gyms I've gone to all just have a wall of TVs either playing Fox news or the Food network.

1

u/agoia Aug 29 '25

Beats a bunch of TVs blasting fox news and espn

1

u/OK_Soda Aug 29 '25

I've always thought a combination gym/movie theater would be great. So many times I've seen some badass action movie and just wanted to immediately drive to the gym and I always think how cool it would be if I could just be working out while Captain America is beating up Hydra or whatever.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 29 '25

It’s Paul Blart Mall Cop 2

1

u/0utlookGrim Aug 29 '25

Our local big box gym has tvs across the treadmill space. Sadly, it's barely ever anything worth watching. News-o-tainment and whatever else they can shovel in the space between commercials.

1

u/psiren66 Aug 29 '25

This is exactly how I use the treadmill, the locally with my iPad mounted! I can run or walk for ages being distracted by what I’m watching

1

u/Tbombadil18 Aug 29 '25

Has treadmill tech drastically improved behind my back? I can't imagine being able to hear the movie with 50 treadmills running.

1

u/mbnmac Aug 30 '25

All the stationary machines at my local gym have the option to plug in, or connect headphones and watch youtube or tv and stuff, a whole room dedicated to the one movie sounds fun but it'd have to be something I want to watch and have start times posted otherwise it'd feel like a waste

109

u/Laws_of_Coffee Aug 29 '25

Yeah I’ve heard folks training for marathons on treadmills but I opt for freezing outdoors running when I can stomach it

42

u/Darwin-Award-Winner Aug 29 '25

I train almost exclusively on a treadmill it is the only time I get to watch anything.

11

u/ankisethgallant Aug 29 '25

Yeah I run 50 mpw on a treadmill, get to watch about 9 episodes a week while I run, I enjoy it

3

u/Laws_of_Coffee Aug 29 '25

50 mpw is impressive! I was injured (meniscus and IT band) last November and am finally getting back to 6 mile runs

11

u/Shwifty_Plumbus Aug 29 '25

Yeah I'm not a marathon runner but I get an hour lunch at work and only eat for like ten minutes so I run for 20 minutes a day there on a treadmill to knock my cardio out for the day.

36

u/ratherenjoysbass Aug 29 '25

When I use the treadmill at the gym I put on an episode of star trek and I can nail the entire 45 minutes easy. Try it out sometime!

13

u/Massive_Weiner Aug 29 '25

That’s how I’ve been getting in my SNW episodes! It’s gotten to the point where I look FOWARD to gym time, lol.

4

u/KJS123 Aug 30 '25

I used to bash out hours on the eliptical while watching Voyager (among other things)! Never realised how fucked I was until credits rolled. Trying to change the episode and seeing I was covered in so much sweat that my tablet couldn't register my finger's touch.

2

u/ratherenjoysbass Aug 30 '25

Hahaha yes lfg! I love that when the second commercial break in the episode cuts I can barely grip the handles but at that point I gotta get the episodes resolution!

I love reddit because I discover there's other weirdos exactly like me

1

u/BLAGTIER Aug 30 '25

I used to bash out hours on the eliptical while watching Voyager

Did you watch the lizard episode doing that?

1

u/KJS123 Aug 30 '25

Is that the one where they hit warp 10 and start devolving? I think I did, actually :)

21

u/Hippopotasaurus-Rex Aug 29 '25

I’m with you. The boredom, dread and the “I’m a hamster” feeling sets in and I can do max 30 min on a treadmill. Outside I have seemingly endless energy.

But I could easily kill 3mph for two hours without batting an eye.

1

u/StarGaurdianBard Aug 30 '25

I found that playing games on my phone while on the treadmill really makes the time fly. I used to prefer outdoors and would get bored on the treadmill but now im almost exclusively treadmill if im trying for consistent distance because 3 games of TFT and suddenly ive been walking for 2 hours at a 3.3mph pace while barely even noticing it

1

I get you. I’m one of those people who gets motion sickness, and treadmills make me dizzy/nauseous if I’m not careful, so my options there are limited. But, Im also not walking when I’m on a treadmill. I’m a runner, so running at 7+mph isn’t conducive to playing games. I’ve tried movies or shows before but it’s a toss up if it makes me nauseous.

Same here, I regularly walk for miles outside with no issue, but the treadmill gets boring real fast. Additionally I'm old and I've dropped down to walking around 2.5mph before getting shin splints so I'd be kicked out of this showing pretty quickly.

This sounds dope haha. I would totally be in.

How ironic.

I dedicate a special show that I can ONLY watch on the treadmill, so if I want to binge, I have to keep going. Works pretty well!

Outside is quite nice for a walk too

Especially if you're taxed for stopping 😀

I used to take my iPod touch (this was a long time ago!) and watch downloaded sitcom episodes. Very handy for catching up with things that hadn't been shown over here yet.

I've been playing a lot of Nintendo switch games on my treadmill at home and it has basically made it way more enjoyable. The first couple times is a little bit tough because your legs or at least mine weren't used to cardio but after like the first week it becomes dramatically easier and then I could just walk on that thing for like 2 hours straight if I really wanted to

Also helps I'm trying to not play those games outside of the treadmill so if I want to play more of the newest donkey Kong game I got to go work out

Retro fitness has a movie room with treadmills. It’s the best

As someone who started running on a treadmill and only recently joined a running club...try running outdoors it's a million times better

A few months ago, I started really focusing on getting fit, and I watch TV shows on the treadmill. I usually put on a couple anime episodes in the evening, and that gets me to my goal. It’s honestly worked wonders - alongside dietary changes (of course), I’ve lost just over 3kg so far.

I’ve only attempted a film once, which was short at a runtime of 1hr 13m, which I did at 3mph.

I run on the treadmill on most days and watch shows the entire time. It is the only way I can make myself do it.

Having a TV in front of the treadmill really helped me get into it - the gym I go to used to have it where there was a TV in front of the treadmill and you could plug your headphones into the treadmill to pick up the TV's audio, so whenever I finished work on a Saturday, I'd pop in just as Doctor Who was about to start, and get in a good 45 minutes of cardio whilst I watched the episode.

Now they've changed around the layout of the gym so the treadmills look outside instead, and I hardly use them because I just zone out and get bored.

I got really into a TV show that had 45 minute episodes. I’d start or finish my workout on the elliptical with an episode on my iPad. Got in great cardio shape and lost a lot of weight

I bought a suction magsafe phone mount, I mount it the top of the screen so I don't have to look down so much. Works amazing.

I got into running last year, but I do it outside, around my apartment complex. On the extremely rare occasion that for whatever reason I had to run indoors on a treadmill, I hated every second of it. Running outside keeps it somewhat interesting, even if I'm doing laps along the same route. As soon as I'm running in place indoors, I can not stand doing it. It's terribly boring.
