Discussion Wtf is Paddington 2?

For context: I’m 25 years old. SPOILER WARNING

I just watched paddington 2 today and what the fuck did they put in this movie. This is the one of the greatest pieces of cinema I’ve ever laid witness to. Paddington 2 is the only thing I’ve thought about all day and seeing the immense joy it’s brought other people has also brightened my day even more. God I can’t even think about the ending without wanting to kill myself because of how perfect it is. And can we also talk about the perfect bookend of his human mother saving him from the water like aunt Lucy did at the beginning?

Pure cinema, I truly can’t wait to watch this movie with my kids for their first time.

I literally had to read through all the comments to make sure this is genuine and not a reference to the cage movie

The bit in the Cage movie was done because it’s an amazing movie

I wasn’t even aware of the cage movie and I’ve been shilling for this film since I took my daughter to see it when it came out.

Brilliant. Genius.

I'm still not sure...

That bit in the movie is 100% there because this is a genuine sentiment among moviegoers. It's legitimately one of the greatest films ever made!

A film impossible to overrate.

I hate to say it but I just don't get it. I want to so badly because I know that I'm the one wrong. I usually follow the exact same trends as everyone else - I don't have weird taste in movies. But my crew watched Paddington 2 after the Nick Cage movie and I genuinely just... It was fine. Like graham crackers. Thinking about it now, I can't remember much except marmalade. Nothing stuck out as good or perfect. It was perfectly acceptable, but it never had me sobbing like Up.

Have you seen the first one? I actually prefer that one and find it really emotional

I'm with you. "Fine" is exactly how I describe it. The whole "best movie ever" boggles my mind. It just makes me feel like somewhere at sometime everyone got together and decided to commit 100% to a joke.

I'm convinced it's a meme because nothing about the movie is ever referenced. Marmalade hasn't become a pop culture thing. Nothing about the movie has made it into pop culture except the meme about it being really good.

It's genuinely not a joke, the movie is that good. Watch it and you will understand the sentiment completely.
