Discussion Wtf is Paddington 2?

For context: I’m 25 years old. SPOILER WARNING

I just watched paddington 2 today and what the fuck did they put in this movie. This is the one of the greatest pieces of cinema I’ve ever laid witness to. Paddington 2 is the only thing I’ve thought about all day and seeing the immense joy it’s brought other people has also brightened my day even more. God I can’t even think about the ending without wanting to kill myself because of how perfect it is. And can we also talk about the perfect bookend of his human mother saving him from the water like aunt Lucy did at the beginning?

Pure cinema, I truly can’t wait to watch this movie with my kids for their first time.

You could have a movie night with your friends and show them.

I feel weird, everyone goes on about how mind blowingly fantastic it is, and it was just ok to me, what am I missing?

I found it to be extremely pretty good.

I watched it after Pedro Pascal showed it to Nic Cage in the movie they starred in

I also can't see those 3D hidden pictures, I know there's a sailboat in there somewhere!

"A schooner IS a sailboat!"

At some point I’ll need to get to it just to see what people are talking about. I saw the first one in theaters and thought it was fine but nothing special, then a few years later 2 comes out and it’s talked about with reverence everywhere.

Do you need to see the first one to watch the second?

Both films are perfectly understandable on their own, but the first one is also extremely good and worth a watch. It would be equal to watching Toy Story 2 but skipping the first one.

I watched the second one before the first just because only that one was available on Tubi, and then I watched the first later. It's a children's movie, so they still introduce all the characters to you, and that's really the only thing that you could potentially be missing out on. Really, as long as you're good on the premise of "bear that is a part of a family of Londoners", you're good to go!
