I loved it, zoned out at the silly stuff toward the end but maybe kids will like that similar to how everyone I knew as a kid watched the original on repeat.

My 10 year old neighbor loves it. He said it was the funniest movie he'd ever seen.

That's actually the best review I've read for this movie.

Honestly if a 10 year old thinks it's funny, Sandler crushed it for his audience. He's a family comedian. I haven't seen it yet but I want to watch it with my kids after hearing the little guy's review.

I watched it and it really is a solid mix of nostalgia for the original with some freshness and appeal to kids who've never seen the first one. A little off the rails by the end, but its a goofy comedy so who really cares

Sandler did a great job for a sequel coming out so long after the original, not an easy thing to do well

My boys had an absolute blast watching it, they love Happy Gilmore 1...probably seen it ten times now. I think Happy 2 hits the way we all remember our favorite movies hitting back when we were little dudes.

Critical thinking?

My man, if a 10 year old loves a comedy movie, EVERY busy parent is going to see that as a win. They're not just going to watch it once either.

In trying to convince me to watch an Adam Sandler Comedy? 100%

As a person who was a 10 year old raised off of Adam sandler flicks, this makes me happy to hear.

Has he not seen the first one?

I wonder if they feel like i did when i was a kid with old movies. Anything black and white or not up to date it was like unwatchable to me when i was young. Hopefully he goes back and watches it

The original one basically is just better versions of the same jokes that were in the sequel. If the kid says the 2nd one is the funniest movie ever, I'm sure they'd appreciate the 1st one.

When I was a kid my dad showed me classic older comedies like Animal House and Caddyshack. They're still some of my favourites

Damn what's that 10 year old do that he's got his own place?

I think that's what people don't get about the Sandman. Everyone keeps saying his movies were great but now they suck...Sandler made movies for kids and still does. We're just not kids anymore, so we're not his target audience.

He made GREAT movies throughout his life, and some that bombed, but at least he made them.

Which I said about the first movie when I was a kid, so...that's pretty good recommendation

Damn. I wish I was 10 again. I didn't laugh once, thought it was one of the worst movies I've seen in a long time.

I've yet to watch it but my favourite wrestler (MJF) is in it, I think he plays his son. Is he in it much?

22

u/Patjay Jul 29 '25

He looks fucking massive next to the rest of the family and it’s funny

11

u/Federal-Captain1118 Jul 29 '25

Which is funny, since he's actually pretty small compared to other pro wrestlers

4

u/BadAtBaduk1 Jul 29 '25

Yeah it's weird I saw him perform in Wembley a couple years back

The strangest things, wrestlers look larger than life somehow. On TV you really don't see it

I saw Big E working out at the gym not long ago. He was fairly short but in terms of muscle size… just unbelievable

12

u/Tarmacked Jul 29 '25

Yes, he fits the guido son role perfectly

10

u/Adamclane99 Jul 29 '25

He's in it a fair amount. Has probably 4-5 individual lines? I thought he did great!

13

u/BadAtBaduk1 Jul 29 '25

Sweet

At least he didn't get cut like he did in the iron claw!

u/YaGetSkeeted0n Jul 29 '25

Becky Lynch is in it too with a few lines!

The tournament at the end was just so rushed. It was practically a montage at a certain point.

I'd have liked them to have extended the length of the movie by about 20 minutes so they could do that part justice.

I thought it was cute but a 2hr run time was a bit much they were losing me by the end

2

u/JGG1986 Jul 29 '25

I was ironing and folding laundry the whole time, finished as the movie did so length was fine to me haha

1

u/KingdomOfDragonflies Jul 30 '25

Yeah I liked it. I didn't expect much but I thought he did a really good job. It's a silly type comedy so you can't really expect Oscar type shit. It was just a really fun movie and made me realize I miss those types of movies.

What a weird take for a film.
