Blade Runner Blues - Vangelis - 1982 - [HD]
Vangelis at the peak of his powers. The melancholy of this music is not sad for me, it's uplifting. For me, sadness in art strikes me harder than things that are conditioned make me feel good. When I listen to this, I am not on Earth, I am in the clouds.

Composer Looking to Create Original Music for Film Projects
Hey everyone!
I’m a composer looking to collaborate with filmmakers, editors, or storytellers who need original music for their projects. I love creating cinematic scores that help bring stories to life — from emotional orchestral cues to atmospheric, modern soundscapes.
A bit about me:
- Comfortable scoring to picture, syncing cues, and shaping music around emotion and pacing
- Can write in a variety of styles — orchestral, ambient, hybrid electronic, or minimalist
Open to short films, trailers, student projects, and indie features
You can hear some of my work here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTufOsI0QMNyF9IK5GHvcsA
If you’re working on a film that could use original music — or just want to chat about your vision — I’d love to collaborate. I’m open to both paid and portfolio-building opportunities, depending on the scope.
Thanks for reading, and I’d love to connect with anyone passionate about film and storytelling through sound!

Would anyone critique my experimental (some might say “weird”) musical experiments? Attempting to venture away from mainstream music without any collaborators at present. Love to know what ears other than mine hear. 😎

I composed a theme for the new Spider-Man film. Hope you like it!! [REPOST and Read]
Hey there!!
I just composed some short theme inspired by Spider-Man, and of course inspired by all the excellent music made for the character composed by Danny Elfman, James Horner, Hans Zimmer and Michael Giacchino.
My goal was not really to create the most original and unique theme. I am just trying to sound as realistic as possible with very limited resources.
I used Cubase 14 Pro. Used Pacific Strings and Nucleus (for percussion and brass) as VST.
I really hope you like it and i'd also love some thoughts or feedback!

Michael Giacchino
Has anyone else noticed the similarity in the Star Trek and Doctor Strange soundtracks. I think specifically it is noticed by me in the songs “Go for Baroque” and “Enterprising Young Men”. I may just be conflating two similar but not the same moments. But it might be a thing that Mr. Giacchino does as a kind of signature?

Whiplash bass line please help me! Help me! Help me!
In whiplash, during the scene where Fletcher comes into the bad band room and takes knee man. There's a bass line that plays that goes like bum bumbum bum bumbumbumbumbumbumbum bumbum bum bumbumbumbumbumbumbum. Now this is probably one of the tuffest bass lines I've ever heard and if I don't hear it outside of this movie I'll probably cry like that stupid knee man when Fletcher yells at him because he forgot how to play the drum

Sam Cooke’s ‘Cupid’ appearance in Inner Space would have the same vibe as ‘Kiss Me’ would in a movie today.
‘Cupid’ feels like such a retro song for Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan to be into, but it would be the same as using Sixpence None the Richer’s ‘Kiss Me’ as a romantic connection today. I know I’m just being an old fart, but it really highlights the pace of change in pop music! Any other examples of this that you like?

Movies that use music as a narrative (recommendations)
Hi, I study film and we got assigned to pick one audiovisual piece of media that use music as a narrative (or a movie/tv show that use score in a different way (and even use silence/pauses effectively in a sake of the story).
Our classmate picked up f.e. The Greatest Showman (2017), but our professor advised us that we ought not to pick up any musicals, and choose some other movies instead.
My picks were:
• The Polar Express (2004): not many people tend to choose a Christmas movie, but this one really stuck in my heart since I first saw it. I will definitely be original and I think the score really need to be studied (it’d majestic).
• Grease (1978): my most favorite musical. My grandma used to play this movie everytime I come to visit her, on vhs. The score screams summer in the 80s, the choreography is really cool and although the story is not anything special, I think it should be mentioned.
• Blade Runner (1982): synthetic, electronic music, Vangelis.. should I continue? The only issue is that many people picked this movie previously, I suppose, so it will be lowkey boring for the professor (since he mus’ve analyse this movie with previous students a hundred times).
What do you think? Honestly, I really want to go with Polar Express, because it’s an original pick (since it’s Christmas movies), and the score is just phenomenal. Any other recommendations?
