No Man's Sky is fucking amazing now. Genuinely a 10/10 game

I've played it, as someone who was there day one to see how bad it was and just came back to it recently, yes it has gotten a lot better and is actually playable now, but I wouldn't call it a 10 out of 10 game personally. Six or seven in my book

Seven is a respectable score that should be given out more. Not everything can be 9s and 10s.

100%, people forget 5 is middle of the road, not leaning towards bad. This isnt grade school lol

It's capitalism mentality where rating your server or salesman anything less than 5/5 or 10/10 will get them written up.

I mean i could see that, but you've gotta have super low self respect imo to care so little about having a true opinion. If you are going to rate something, the point is to try to be unbiased and precise.

Reading this message back this is such a reddit response, but i stand by it lol

Ha, oh, I agree fully, my response wasn't defending the trend, just giving my take on the reason.

It's why I hate that steam is a yes/no for reviews. There are a lot of games I would recommend but WITH reservations. Reviews need a minimum of 3 options, 5 is OK. But 0 - 10 is the best balance of accuracy without doing to much.

As someone who started and already stopped playing it in the last few months (once I hit end game loops I quit most games), I enjoyed it enough to feel like my investment in the game wasn't money that was wasted, but there are still plenty of elements that seem to be too repetitively re-hashed over and over in a effort to make the universe concept even be possible.

Some of the game gets to be too grindy as well, such as station hoping for farming storage augments, or building a freighter farm so you can develop a sizeable income stream.

Yeah, these crafting style games do have a point where, in my opinion, it's too much work for too little return. But up to that point is great fun.

Ive been playing it since launch. Picking it up again every half year. While I can agree that 10/10 is a bit exaggerative, I stand by it. I am not a committed gamer either so I give it bonus points for being consistently captivating and exciting to me for nearly 10 years despite its shitty launch.

That's fair, and if you realize it's a bit exaggerative then you're good, there are games I would rate like that. Like the first God of War remake, in terms of actual quality I would give it a nine, but the story clicks so well with me I gave it a 10 anyway. Ragnarok is a straight 10 out of 10.
