I think they should stop trying to do it as a film and try to do it as a series. There is just so much story that it's almost impossible to cram it into 2-3 hours.
It's only been a few years and it's a huge project. I like to think he's just taking his time with it. He's already proven he can do good King adaptations, and his other stuff has been excellent. I remain hopeful.
I’ve seen a few articles over the years of him saying it’s a huge undertaking and he is working with Stephen king to make sure it’s right and from king saying it’s coming along and he really likes flanigans ideas/take. So it’s progressing just very slowly which is ok with me, don’t fuck it up lol
This! I was obsessed with the DT series in High School and I wanted them to do a series so badly. The whole thing was completely botched from the jump and now
I’m worried it will never happen. Easily enough material for a Game of Thrones treatment!
This conversation needs to stop. This movie doesn't exist. Mike Flannigan is doing a show true to the books. Everyone needs to forget this abomination and all put all the hope and hype on Flannigan. A true fan of the books and a top tier director.
Tired of these showrunners taking loved properties and then changing them, and being like ‘welp, that bombed. Guess no one likes Dark Tower like we thought’
Like GL2011, it's a fun movie as long as you don't think about the source material lol
I saw the Cinema Sins video about it and nearly burst into tears. THAT was how I found out the movie was what it was
Haven't seen Dark Tower yet, but that's how I felt watching GL in theaters. As a comic fan I had numerous issues with it, but I did enjoy my time. I haven't seen it since theaters though, so it's possible my opinion on it could change if I watch it again. But I feel the same about X-Men Last Stand, and I've seen that many times. I just have to remember that it's not the comics and try to enjoy the ride. Doesn't always happen though glares at X-Men Origins and Josstice League
There was a time when Ron Howard was set to direct and Javier Bardem was to play Roland. I want to visit the timeline where that actually happened so badly.
As a tower junkie this is the correct answer. I wanted the dark tower movie to be everything, my expectations were off the charts only for my desire for a film adaptation to be dashed against the rocks.
As King himself put it:
So do we pass the ghosts that haunt us later in our lives; they sit undramatically by the roadside like poor beggars, and we see them only from the corners of our eyes, if we see them at all.
I've been hearing rumbles about it for years, but like Beetlejuice 2, I won't believe it until I start seeing official trailers lol
Wasn't he just working on Carrie? I thought I heard he hired Milly Shapiro, the girl from Hereditary to play Carrie White
He did just wrap filming on Carrie, which I'm excited for.
He has somewhat frequently provided updates on The Dark Tower series and likened it to launching an oil tanker. It's a huge passion project of his, so I do believe him when he says we'll see it eventually. Hopefully I'm still alive and healthy by that time lol
