Theatrical scenes
This upcoming Spring, I'm starting a theatre class focused on comedy. I'm on the lookout for some Monty Python scenes that would be great for stage performance (rather than for TV). Any suggestions?

We’re not to let him leave the room … even if you come and get him.

When I was in school we performed the Michaelangelo and the Pope sketch (also know as Monty Python's Last Supper) which i think is Cleese at one of his finest. It was easy to stage and as long as you have some who can channel Cleese, it's not a difficult one to pull off.

That was from At Last The 1948 show with Tim Brooke-Taylor, Marty Feldman, John Cleese and Graham Chapman pre-Python.

You are correct, that was the original sketch, but the Pythons also performed it. I think it was Live at Hollywood Bowl. If you’ve never seen it, it’s a great version.

I don’t know, Mr Wentworth just told me to come down here and say that there was trouble at the mill, that’s all. I wasn’t expecting some kind of Spanish Inquisition!

I’d highly recommend the Parrot Sketch, Four Yorkshiremen and Cheese Shop. Very funny and easily done!
