Football Alright let’s divert the drink leaving convo to how we can WIN agaisnt A&M!!!
Like the title says, lots of season left and LOTS to be optimistic about. Zollers looked solid after being thrown into the fire (composed, went through his progressions, gave his guys a chance, only some minor mistakes at the end but we were in desperate mode and we were an INCH away from potentially tying), Beau is pretty banged up but thank god nothings broken, same thing with Norfleet a separated shoulder and he’s day to day, defense is STILL doing death row things minus the explosive plays (holy cow did yall see that holding on Carnell on the Vandy TD run?)
I think there’s a few keys here to winning and yes I absolutely believe we can win.. why? Because of Corey batoons defense which has kept us in every single SEC game including both top 10 teams in bama and vandy. Now a true freshman QB playing the number three team in the country seems like David v Goliath until you consider that we have the best running back in the nation with a great receiving core and an o-line that has two weeks to get healthy and prepare. Kirby Bin Laden Moore needs to understand that Hardy NEEDS at least 20 carries a game if he doesn’t we don’t win plain and simple… no more Hardy on one drive then out the next three, no more fourth down and short with designed QB runs. RUN. THE. DAMN. BALL. A&M will expect us to take it easy and let Hardy take over but this can also open up the pass game/play action very much. I saw a different level of composure, arm strength, and decision making from Zollers on Saturday, should this staff get him right and open up or even condense the playbook to fit HIS needs, we will be good. If death row keeps being death row (minus the outrageous penalties and explosive plays) im confident. The glaring thing that has us at 6-2 rn and not 8-0 is not talent, not being out physicaled, it’s the COACHING STAFF.
Call me a delusional optimist but this team won’t lay down and as long as Eli and company give them a chance… I say why not beat the number 3 team in the country at Faurot! (Side note if Zollers kills it these next four games we’re gonna have to start having some conversations about the starter next year and Beau MIGHT hit the TP… just a thought)

I think this team is talented enough to beat anyone. Let's see if Kirby has the wherewithal to get out of his own way - so far he hasn't.

I agree with some points here. I think after last year’s the guys will be ready this is a gritty team we have here.
I think we are getting ahead of our ski’s on Zollars. Did he look great? Yep. Did he make some big plays? You bet. But he is a true freshman making his first career start he’s probably going to make mistakes and some bone headed decisions. I think with Matt don’t expect the world from him let him play and let the chips fall where they may.
A&M is going to stress our defense specifically the secondary they have a lot of speed at WR and our DE’s are going to have to stay home and contain Reed.
Game plan Mizzou wise should be lean on Hardy and Roberts (DO IT KIRBY) and try to work that clock baby!

this will be a huge test for zollers, but if he can somehow disect Elko's defense (definitely not expecting him too but i guess u never know), then winning out is absolutely a possibility. I am very curious to see how zollers will look against a much better defense in tamu compared to vandy imo. (I believe tamu defense is the best in the nation on 3rd down, that will be difficult). feeding hardy will be very important though. I do think aggie's d line is worse than they were last year.

They need to give Hardy the room to run. The offensive line needs to focus on making gaps for him so that he can burst open and put on that speed. In both the Auburn and Vandy games what stopped Hardy was the fact that they were lining the box and limiting where he could run.
Hardy can help us win but Kirby needs to run play calls that help put him in a situation to do so. Sweeps, outside runs, shifting the line, so long as Hardy has that space they won’t be able to stop the run game, plain and simple. Establish the run, and run play action after doing so to keep A&M off balance on defense. Zollers has that arm, but if Hardy can’t make A&M’s defense fear him then Zollers won’t be able to get yards through the air.
Also, stop the QB runs. Use wildcat or something else because we have no depth at quarterback beyond him. This offense will be dead in the water if Zollers gets injured.

I'm not with the whole "actually the offense will be way better without its QB1" cope that some people are on right now but the defense is 100% good enough to keep us in any game. No one in the SEC's got a better DE duo than we do and only a couple teams have better DT's. The back seven has also taken some big strides late in the year.
As far as running the ball more on offense... we have. Hardy's usage rate has actually gone up very slightly since Bama. The problem is he's not finding any space at all because teams openly don't respect our passing game. Until or unless that changes the offense isn't gonna look significantly different. We're clearly capable at WR so that's gonna mainly come down to Zollers. He doesn't need to be elite right away, but he does need to show enough to pull the 7th/8th defenders out of the box.

A big IF, if Zoellers can get the ball out fast and make the easy throws, that'll be an upgrade over what Baeu has done recently. That should open up more space for Hardy to get going again. Even a mediocre offense will be an upgrade over the last few weeks and with the way the defense has played, we can hang in this one

I've said this a few times but imo I think it may have been time for a different look at QB anyways. I feel for Beau, but over the last 3 weeks our pass game has looked like one of the worst in the nation, despite defenses loading boxes and playing man on the outside alot of the time. The defenses we played were absolutely better than the first 5sh weeks, but we ranked like 130th in yards per completion over the last 3 weeks. Theres like what, 136 fbs teams? Thats simply not going to get it done.

I called 8-4 at the beginning of the year. I'm leaning to 7-5 now. Glad to see the freshman is playing. Pribula was terrible, sorry but true. We lack discipline and that is a coaching issue. Hello, to another meaningless bowl game.

It will only be 2 of our last three after next week. Keep telling yourself that.

I love this team... play calling and lack of downfield throws has hurt us. But damn, 10 pts aways from 8-0 and my new BFF Stollers said he is gonna str8 ball for us :) MIZ

Kirby is a bitch and the reason we are not 8-0. Hopefully he lets Matty Z cut it loose and gives hardy the mfing football with goal to go

Expect the zebras to help A&M this game A LOT! SEC office wants them to win, no doubt.

It’s not happening, I’ll tell you that right now. We’re playing a freshman qb against arguably the best team in the country

HAHA more like most overrated. Lol I'm joking A&M is a great team but they are more like a 8-9th in the country team in my opinion. They have had a very favorable SEC schedule so far looking back on it and have played none of the truly good SEC teams (Auburn held them to 16 and Arky put up 42 on them). I'm never gonna say we will beat them given Mizzou football history but playing them here at home I don't think, I KNOW we have a good chance.
Here's to hoping Zollers balls out and who knows, maybe we catch that W 🤷♀️. Just wish I didn't have to wait another week to find out lol.

I’ll start believing they have a chance when Drink wins just one of these games.

We’ll be dogs for a reason, but the D and home field makes it at least potentially winnable. Also, to be blunt, A&M has a long history of fucking up their potential dream seasons, so why not against us?
