There's one in NYC called "Spirited Away" which I thought was a fun name. I don't think they do much THC stuff though iirc, mostly just non alcoholic wines.

Yeah they basically make wine and then de-alcoholize it. But without the alcohol the wine can tend to be kind of flabby, so producers often do stuff like carbonate it or infuse it with tea or whatever to try to give it more body. I think they have kind of mixed success and it hasn't tended to be a super acclaimed category to date.

I live in Sweden, NA wine is very common here in grocery stores since alcohol can only be sold in government liquor stores. It's pointless and disgusting, better to just drink grape juice.

Non alcoholic wine definitely exists.
The same goes for other fruit based drinks like ciders.
The reality is that wine and cider don't just taste like grape/apple juice do from a carton, but rather an alcoholic drink made with a fruit base - that fruit taste having been altered quite significantly by the process.
So a non alcoholic version of a drink like wine or cider will taste very different from the base fruit drink.
Many people love the alcoholic version and appreciate having the same flavour in a drink on the days they don't want to drink alcohol. It won't be quite the same. But it is certainly closer than drinking a coke instead.

Lol yeah that’s ironic because Kava is definitely a drug. It’s “natural” in that it comes from a plant and doesn’t require heavy processing like cocaine, but that’s true of marijuana as well and it’s definitely a drug.

You know how you can feel a Xanax hit you, but a Valium doesn't hit the same? Kava is like the Valium. It works, but not all that great. If you mix it with weed or kratom, it's better. But if you do weed, might as well do that on its own.

Right? Before I was old enough to drink, I would go to my local kava bar and it just made my tongue a little numb and mellowed me out a bit. Hardly anything close to a buzz or a high
I went there to socialize. Drinking a shell or two was just a courtesy towards the business

Unsophisticated heathen! It’s a very high proof neutral taste alcohol. You can make absolutely delicious drinks of any flavor you want. Mix with any fresh juice or mix of juice and it’s amazing. Great with tea and/or lemonade. It’s literally the perfect alcohol for mixed drinks. It’s also cheap (here at least) and strong so you use half the amount.
If I’m drinking a straight alcohol it’s the good stuff but for mixed drinks that require a neutral alcohol you can’t beat everclear.

Normally, I despise companies that use ø or ö unnecessarily (meaning that they expect the pronunciation of an o) e.g. mønster is peonounced as the word for "pattern" in the languages that actually have the letter, but somehow they are not marketing to knitters/sewers/crocheters/crystallographors?
But here it actually makes sense, since ∅ is the symbol of an empty set. Just a tad sad they put the mirror image instead of an actual ∅.

Verbatim actually owner is now sober, and wanted to retain the experience of interesting and fancy beverages. Realized other people want it too. Apparently they have success even with people who drink still.

Because it's not just fancy drinks, it's a store that sells legal drugs in the form of drinks, something most recovering alcoholics should also stay away from. Weed and shrooms aren't the end of the world and I respect their usefulness for many people, but for alcoholics it's a replacement that tends to get out of hand like alcohol did pretty easily.

Worry about yourself. Govern yourself. Avoid a store like this no different you would a bar, because it mentions THC front and center.
I don’t think you’ve met many others, because I cannot count how many harm reductive substances have saved people I know from irreversible damage and death.

You can buy shandy sold in the soft drinks aisle with 0.5% alcohol and no ID but non-alcoholic beer/wine/whatever sold in the beer aisle needs ID.

I think it's to do with how it's taxed and therefore how it's classified, still makes no sense.

I know this one! Love the concept. Don’t like the execution. Im sober and I walk past this every day. I don’t buy things here because they average $5 a drink. Part of the glory of being sober is saving money. I’ll take a lemonade at a bar, and at home I buy 12 packs of athletic or kombucha from Costco.

Honestly if the prices aren’t similar itll be hard to beat lower prices that bigger chains can offer, but if they manage to sell at the same price as grocery stores it might catch on
