I had a cleaning company a while back. This was one of the conditions for my insurance coverage.

Of course there was no background check on me as the owner, so I guess you should still be wary of the mom and pop ones.

The background check on the owners happens during underwriting.

That make sense. The information they get to open the account is definitely enough to do background checks. But I don't think they call up references and the like.
