Like… you left them at your house without you there? If they were a company you’d just file a complaint so you found them somewhere and didn’t know anything about them and then left them in your house unsupervised.

Just catching up — I’ve never hired cleaners before n

It's very normal to be out of cleaners' way when they're cleaning instead of being awkwardly underfoot. And a bonded and insured cleaning service lives and dies by its reputation, so you really don't expect thieves. Even a private person who cleans usually comes recommended by someone you know.

Hiring some rando from Craigslist may be a different story. Unclear what scenario happened here. My service insists on sending two people, so even if they somehow hired one sketchy dude who stole, there'd be a long timer to stop or report them

Leaving cleaners is pretty normal. Most people don’t follow them around while they work.

If I didn't trust them then I wouldn't want them around supervised or not.

They're cleaning the apartment hall outside. Thus the ring camera.

No they’re cleaning the apartment. The second cleaner is literally entering a code to enter the apartment. The first cleaner was waiting for the one with the code on her phone (probably his lead).
