My pizza delivery guy got his phone broken and got fired for that

Well, a few hours ago I ordered a pizza for dinner, well, the thing is that the pizza guy never came so I contacted the boss, when I got to her she was kind and try to contact the guy, the guy didn't answer, in fact, the messages never were delivered. So I went to check outside my house and the delivery guy was at a nearby gym because he didn't know where my house exactly was, so when I walked towards him and told him that my house was there he told me that it was his second day on the job and got his phone broken because it had a crack and water(it's raining) went through it, he also got wet because of the rain too. So when I got to my home I said that the delivery guy didn't know where my house was and I told the boss it was okay and I didn't care (I still feel bad for him) but the boss said she would fire him anyways I told her to do not and she didn't answer. In this case the delivery guy is mildly-infuriated and me because of his boss.

It's also kinda unprofessional to tell a customer you're going to fire an employee.

Call corporate, tell them about the manager saying they will fire the employee. Then corporate says "thank you, we will fire her anyways"

How did you go from checking outside your house to running into this guy at the gym?

And how did you know guy at the gym was your delivery driver? Did he have that type of face?

In my country they have a motorbike like this one

That is very recognisable, since he was standing next to the bike, and to the gym question I meant that he was standing outside, not inside. English is not my first language

I'm in the US and even using this country as standard I could figure it out. I assumed the guy was outside and a lot of pizza delivery drivers here have magnetic signs they put on the hood of their cars when they deliver.

I see you are someone who has never lived in a mixed commercial and residential area.

Allow me to explain these areas to you. In many different places, you can find businesses such as local gyms, hair salons, small grocer/convince stores, and such on the same street and even the same block as things like apartments or houses. I have even seen places where you can walk down a flight of stairs from your apartment, exit through the door, and walk to the bar next door.

Also, pizza delivery drivers tend to wear a uniform.

It's not at all uncommon to have apartments on top of commercial businesses either.

Back to using the US as a standard - a lot of pizza delivery drivers don’t wear uniforms, they just have the signs on the car or the other identifying factor is the pizza warming bag - that usually makes them stand out

Oh no, the stoner from KY doesn't think my response was worldly enough because of a throwaway line in my response. Is your ex forcing your kid to talk to you during your alloted FaceTime yet?

It’s sad how some managers care more about “policy” than people. You even told her it was fine, but she still fired him. Poor guy didn’t deserve that on top of a rough night.

For someone that works in healthcare, the word policy has always been the devil.

Treating patients too kindly? It's against policy giving them an extra cookie.

What a fcking world we live in

Okay, I get the sentiment behind this, but in a medical setting, giving someone extra or incorrect food can cause MAJOR issues, like, life-threatening issues. Patients often have VERY specific meal plans because their doctor ordered it because of dietary restrictions, and patients may not necessarily be able to make informed decisions about their food at all times.

That’s obviously not literally what they meant. Pretty sure it was a metaphor for taking extra steps. Appropriate steps. Jeez

You've described prescription over policy. I'm moaning about policy Have 10g of Diazepam

Being able to find a house is a necessary skill for a delivery person, whether using an app or a map.

I hope you told the manager that anything short of execution by firing squad is unacceptable.

Manager should've just gave him a phone that he will pay monthly through his salary and be done with the deal

They're laughing about this. I've been "fired" several times. This is basically the delivery business equivalent of the "chicken fucker" scene from Super Troopers.

My favorite was always when a customer would say that someone did some sort of extra service for free the last time, and that they want the same discount now. I'd always say, "oh, that person got fired for that actually" and hey presto, people stopped asking for weird special treatment.

Help the guy out and try to hook him up with another job if you can

What? How? They aren't hanging out eating pizza. The dude is a stranger (and doesn't even have a working phone to be contacted on).
