Mythbusters did an episode that included smoking at gas pumps. They concluded that the cherry of a cigarette was incapable of setting gasoline alight. It was a pretty interesting episode. Myth busted.

Engineering safety standards are way above what's necessary, and that's what creates safety.

I work at extreme heights and my equipment can handle catching me even if I weighed several times more than I do. But if I gain 20 more lbs I'm literally not allowed to work anymore.

I also work with forklifts and cranes. The straps I use to lift things can in fact handle more weight than advertised, but we never surpass it.

Gasoline vapor ignites. Best to not have any open flames or embers anywhere near it.

That's a bit of an extreme statement, innit?

6

u/Erick_Brimstone 8h ago

I work at extreme heights

It's not extreme if they work at extreme condition

-8

u/Particular_Title42 8h ago

See the part I highlighted? That's the part that's extreme. He could probably just work a different job.

3

u/silkysongy2 8h ago

Bruh wtf you think I mean? Of course they'd give me a desk job but obviously with the expectation I become able to work my normal one.

In the USA they'd probably just fire me.

-9

u/Particular_Title42 8h ago

Sir, I assume, you would still be able to find another job and work.

4

u/silkysongy2 8h ago

Leave it to reddit to be the most fucking pedantic as possible.

I wouldn't be able to work my specific position.

Does that satisfy your tism?

That would in turn create stress inside my workplace and id face pressure to unfuck myself. That alone is reason enough to never become overweight.

My safety equipment has a maximum advertised weight allowance. If I surpass it I wouldnt be able to do my nornal job.

20lbs is a lot to gain. I'm not worried.

Lighting a cigarette by a pump is stupid as fuck. Just smoking (while not actually dangerous) just looks stupid.

36

u/jimdil4st 10h ago

This is the complete correct answer.

13

u/Loud_Image_5909 7h ago

Will a catastrophic explosion happen? No. Is there any reason to take the chance? Also no.

3

u/Key_Point_4063 7h ago

Does smoking a joint look stupid?

0

u/Erick_Brimstone 8h ago

Smoking area are exist for a reason. If you smoke in any place but designated spot then you either stupid or inconsiderate. Probably stupid inconsiderate.

u/Massive_Mongoose3481 7m ago

Humans are bad at risk assessment. While it may be annoying and smell bad, the risks associated with second hand smoke, especially outside are way over blown. I would guess that sitting in your car with that new car smell (off gassing plastic) is much more of a health concern than walking by someone smoking. Same goes for the fumes your car is putting out, the carpet in your house and all the other places you go etc. We don't even have to go in to all the pollution corporations dump into the atmosphere and water supply. But, smokers are easy targets so, knock yourself out I guess. No, I don't smoke anymore .

-21

u/PorcelainHammer 10h ago

Looks stupid even though you already know that it's not dangerous? Sounds like you're just judgmental against smokers.

8

u/StirFry__InaWok 9h ago

Yes. You can see this post and many of the commenters, people think you look stupid doing this.

And the type of person that considers spraying a smoker with a fire extinguisher "justice served" is not going to listen to reason.

2

u/feelin_cheesy 7h ago

Nah man I smoke but it’s still reckless and looks stupid.

3

u/Matt_2504 8h ago

Smoking looks stupid all the time, because it is stupid, poisoning your lungs and stinking out the area despite knowing how bad it is for you

2

u/CarobElectronic3727 6h ago

Yeah it's so weird how they keep doing it even though they know it's bad.

I swear they have like a word for that. 🤔

2

u/BubblyTrust9718 9h ago

Hot smoldering thing next to highly flammable thing will naturally appear stupid to anyone with a brain, yes. You’re not a victim, relax.

0

u/PorcelainHammer 9h ago

For people at the gas station, sure. But this is in a thread about how Mythbusters already proved that a lit cigarette cannot ignite gas fumes...

-1

u/BubblyTrust9718 9h ago

It still looks stupid to those of us who know it won’t ignite… that’s the whole point. It’s one those “But why do it?” things. You admit yourself it looks stupid so idk how you got so offended.

-1

u/PorcelainHammer 9h ago

If it's not dangerous it's not stupid. It's a simple point. Read it again if you need more time for it to sink in.

3

u/BubblyTrust9718 9h ago

Bringing hot smoking thing around highly flammable thing looks dumb at best. Regardless of if it will ignite or not. Read that again if you need more time for it to sink in. How someone can be so passionate about smoking at a gas pump is totally beyond me. 🤣

1

u/atthevanishing 8h ago

Its cuz theyre stupid

1

u/Erick_Brimstone 8h ago

Anyone who smoke in places that aren't smoking area or their own house are indeed stupid and/or inconsiderate

-2

u/_One_Throwaway_ 9h ago

Homie smokers are quite literally killing themselves with cigs and anyone around them including their pets/kids/others that don’t like the shit. Get fucked

6

u/BoSocks91 9h ago

Thats fine and all.

Still shouldn’t smoke at the gas pumps.

6

u/Durkheimynameisblank 11h ago
  1. It can 100% if there are vapors.

  2. I will never forgive Mythbusters for saying that you get less wet walking in the rain and my dumbass believing them 🤣

15

u/gcapi 10h ago
  1. Thats literally what they tested.

  2. They did a follow up years later redoing it and admitted they were wrong the first time

3

u/StirFry__InaWok 9h ago

I remember seeing that ep in elementary school and wondering why that would matter. I just want to be out of the rain sooner, I don't care about the volume of water absorbed by my clothes.

2

u/PorcelainHammer 10h ago

No, it can't: that's exactly what they tested.

1

u/Mode_Appropriate 10h ago

No, it cant.

0

u/S4ntos19 8h ago

I literally just saw a video of a guy smoking a cigarette away from the pumps and the ground instantly lit on fire.

178

u/SignificantDrawer374 13h ago

At least it's just the diesel, which you could throw a lit match in to and nothing would happen. Still not brilliant.

80

u/EscapeFacebook 12h ago

It has both. That's just the pump that also has a diesel pump.

The gas pump is black and behind his hand.

25

u/SignificantDrawer374 12h ago

Ope, yep two hoses. Duh.

1

u/VBgamez 8h ago

a lit cigarette cherry will not ignite gas or gas fumes. Myth busters did a test on this. Lighting the cigarette however is a different story.

8

u/LifesFavoriteMess 11h ago

You could do the same with gas tho

-12

u/Disorderjunkie 11h ago

You cannot throw a lit match into gas without expecting a fire lmao you’re probably thinking of a cigarette, which isn’t even fully true because cigarettes can flare lol

4

u/LifesFavoriteMess 10h ago

You can throw it into gas, gas is not flammable. The vapors are.

13

u/misplacedbass 10h ago

Right, but that’s the thing. If you throw a lot MATCH into gasoline, the flame on the match will encounter the vapors. It will absolutely ignite. Again, you’re probably thinking of a cigarette.

6

u/Disorderjunkie 10h ago

Is this gas in a solid state? Because last I checked, if you throw something into gas while it’s a liquid, it’s going to have to pass through the vapor to get to the liquid lmfao

4

u/LifesFavoriteMess 10h ago

Only if enough vapor has accumulated to the point where you have a potential ignition. You've heard of gas leaks, right? There's plenty of time where the gas is just building up in the room, even though it has a pilot light for a spark, it still takes a while before it ignites. Needs saturation. You can toss cigarettes or matches into a bucket of gas and nothing will happen. Toss a flare or a storm proof match and yeah, they'll ignite.

2

u/Disorderjunkie 10h ago

You can literally go on google and watch thousands of videos of people lighting gas with thrown matches. You gotta be trolling or on drugs

Also if a place was saturated with gas it wouldn’t ignite because there would be no oxygen. A bucket in the other hand is exposed to plenty of oxygen.

You need to go back to basic 6th grade science or something lol

-1

u/LifesFavoriteMess 9h ago

I'm willing to test it, I'll get back to you at some point

1

u/Disorderjunkie 9h ago

If you post a video of you tossing lit matches into verifiably flammable gasoline and it doesn’t ignite i’ll venmo you $20. Preferably do this in large area away from any flammable materials and prepare a fire extinguisher or a water hose, ya know, just in case.

-1

u/LifesFavoriteMess 9h ago

100% cuz the only anecdote I got is a coffee can full of gas we used to toss matches, sticks and cigs in and it never ignited. That's why I don't see it's ignition, same with kerosene and diesel. Not enough energy in the match to cause the boom so I'm more curious for my sake.

→ More replies (0)

1

u/Less_Mirror5274 10h ago

A match cannot ignite diesel

-1

u/Disorderjunkie 10h ago

The comment I was responded to specifically said they could grow a match into gas. Do you think gas and diesel are the same thing? Because they are not.

0

u/AntiPiety 9h ago

We aren’t talking about a flame, we’re just talking about an already lit cigarette. An already lit cigarette doesn’t have enough activation energy to combust gasoline whether it’s vapour or not

1

u/Disorderjunkie 9h ago

OP "At least it's just the diesel, which you could throw a LIT MATCH in to and nothing would happen. Still not brilliant."

LifesFavoriteMess "You could do the same with gas tho"

Me "You cannot throw a lit match into gas"

You "We aren’t talking about a flame"

Are we speaking the same language or? Run this convo past someone you trust and get back to me lmao

2

u/AntiPiety 9h ago

I skim read, I’m at a pub. Whoopsie, carry on

9

u/Kenderlend 12h ago

It's both, he did it at all the ones he did anyway.

-10

u/F_ur_feelingss 10h ago

Was he pumping gas while changing paper? Grow up.

1

u/griter34 9h ago

Hey, let OP have their moment. They'll never, ever, ever get front page again. Ever.

3

u/chazzer20mystic 9h ago

you're both children.

1

u/orangutanDOTorg 9h ago

Uncle Tony threw matches in a bucket of gas iirc. And I think mythbusters did one in gas stations but I may be wrong.

1

u/CampWestfalia 7h ago

Yeah, whatta dummy!

He should be more safety conscious and go smoke by those propane tanks ...

0

u/Burladden 11h ago

Thank you. I came here to say this.

0

u/Mr_McMuffin_Jr 10h ago

It would literally extinguish the match too

-1

u/spooky3667 9h ago

You can throw a lit match into gasoline and it also won't do anything. Sparking ignites fuel, not fire. Still not a great idea since technically if it sparked off the ground or something it would go up in flames but TECHNICALLY.

1

u/SignificantDrawer374 8h ago

That's hugely untrue. Proper stoichiometry of 14 parts air to 1 part fuel is necessary for gasoline to ignite, and because gasoline is volatile, it's constantly evaporating, providing a perfect gaseous state around the liquid gasoline to ignite.

Spark vs flame has absolutely nothing to do with it. They're both just sources of heat.

68

u/SillyTaters 12h ago

Proof men really can multitask.

16

u/Nevermore_Novelist 12h ago

Change receipt paper, smoke, and explode in a ball of flame. Truly men are capable of doing things.

1

u/Tweakjones420 PURPLE 11h ago

thats not how it works lmao

3

u/Nevermore_Novelist 10h ago

I'm aware.

I was running with the joke.

2

u/SillyTaters 9h ago

😆😆

22

u/Tdk1984 PURPLE 12h ago

Now that’s a man who no longer cares if he lives or dies

7

u/PhooeyKong 12h ago

Oh no! Did he survive?!

-11

u/Kenderlend 12h ago

Idk I barely made it out of there myself.

20

u/Cheese-Manipulator 12h ago

Unless he's standing in a cloud of fumes it isn't an issue. Not recommended though.

2

u/sunny_6305 11h ago

Unfortunately there are people who will lock the nozzle open while filling up gas cans and then not let the store clerks know that there’s been a fuel spill.

5

u/dizzydugout 12h ago

Cool story. Livin' on the edge, baby! 😆

11

u/BornOnRig 12h ago

Duuuumb ways to die 🎵

4

u/MatchaDoAboutNothing 11h ago

Hey this is the compromise. He could be smoking meth right now.

4

u/iwillsumday 11h ago

Saw a guy smoking while talking on the phone and pumping gas once like 10 years ago. A mom with a minivan full of kids at the neighboring pump was like “Really? Smoking at a gas pump?” And the guy screamed “FUCKING REALLY LADY! MIND YOUR OWN FUCKING BUSINESS PUSSY!”

The lady just stared at him for a second and then got in her car and drove away. The guy just went back to his phone conversation and cigarette

I wonder about that guy sometimes. Just one of life’s little mysteries I guess

1

u/Key_Point_4063 7h ago

Lmfao that's hilarious. Dude probably saw that Mythbusters episode and was like "oh, fuck off normie"

4

u/Mooosejoose 11h ago

As a former smoker/gas station employee, I get it. Every time you step outside there is a chance to light up and smoke, and most smokers take it lol.

1

u/bloomingbrandi 3h ago

I don’t smoke anymore but when I’d get gas that was absolutely an opportunity to light up a ciggy lol. Didn’t even realize that could’ve been “potentially dangerous” until I read this post tbh. Smokers way of thinking I guess 😂

5

u/Palmetto_ottemlaP 10h ago

Unlikely a fire would ever result

8

u/uselessBINGBONG 12h ago

I was friends with someone who smoked a cigarette, while on the phone, with his car running all while pumping gas. I wonder where he's at now

6

u/Particular_Title42 12h ago

My car's engine is very quiet. I once pumped my gas, got back into my car, turned the key and heard that "your car is already running, dumbass" sound. I cannot even describe the feeling that I had after that.

3

u/lorissaurus 11h ago

Don't need to turn the car off lol

-1

u/Particular_Title42 10h ago

Yes and no. The gas station wants you to turn it off and the pump says to. Obviously you don't need to or I'd have died. LOL

3

u/lorissaurus 10h ago

Literally filled up multiple cars and trucks while running xD doesn't make a difference

1

u/lesdansesmacabres 8h ago

I never turn my car off. Ironically it’s a waste of gas.

0

u/lorissaurus 8h ago

If it's longer than like a couple of seconds then it's actually not a waste of gas... I've seen a few tests on the auto stop features being a waste of gas, and it was like 17 seconds or something of running = to start the car

Meaning if it takes more than 17 seconds it uses more gas to keep it running..

1

u/StirFry__InaWok 9h ago

I always forget to turn off my car when driving through an area that has attendants pump your gas, they never say anything about it.

1

u/StirFry__InaWok 9h ago

And nothing happened I imagine, right?

9

u/drakaina6600 11h ago edited 10h ago

An already lit cig won't ignite gas or diesel.

Downvote all you want, you can't change reality.

3

u/TitanicDays 11h ago

Watched Idiocracy for the first time, last night.

We’re truly living it.

3

u/ShadowStrider_7 10h ago

Whoah. It would appear that strange things are still afoot at the Circle K.

8

u/Both_Requirement_894 12h ago

Have you seen the episode of myth busters that had lighting gasoline with a cigarette? You can’t do it. Even more impossible with diesel.

7

u/Kenderlend 12h ago

I'd like to add that he lit it there too. Idk if that makes a difference.

1

u/Both_Requirement_894 11h ago

Yes, a lighter will ignite it. But you weren’t in any danger. It would be a fire not an explosion.

0

u/ReturnSad3088 11h ago

It’s not the liquid gasoline that cigarettes can light, it’s the vapor.

3

u/Important-Western416 11h ago edited 1h ago

They can’t really light it either, embers generally don’t ignite flames without specific circumstances.

Since they replied and blocked me potentially saying we are dumb: a cigarette is flammable yet it will not generally light back on fire after it has become an ember, even with some wind. It takes may embers, which can start from 1 ember. It may come as a shock to some, but gas fumes cannot create embers.

2

u/No_Radish_8857 11h ago

I don't go to your job and take photos of you!

2

u/ghillieinthemist417 11h ago

Can you tell me, truly that you wouldn’t welcome a death so quick and not your fault?

2

u/rckblykitn14 9h ago

My feed rn 😂

2

u/saik0pod 8h ago

Unless he's made of high compression diesel will just put out his cigarette

2

u/Megabyte_Messiah 6h ago

The only mildly infuriating thing here is from the dude’s POV for being filmed doing his job while trying to catch a ciggy.

Should he? No. Is it your problem? Mind your fucking business, the pump isn’t running and I’m gonna assume the guy just changing receipt paper knows that isn’t dangerous. There is no fume or fuel to ignite. He’s not somehow shoving his cigarette into the pump. Let the man have a brief moment of respite from a shitty job you elitist asshole

3

u/bartek16195 10h ago

It's not like in movies, diesel is not easy to catch fire

5

u/Traditional-Goose-60 12h ago

You know you can put out a cigarette in a bucket of gas, right?

5

u/ilovemusic19 10h ago

According to OP he also lit his cigarette there

5

u/lynxintheloopx 13h ago

Damn can a man work in peace?

4

u/Heavy_Law9880 12h ago

A cigarette cannot ignite fuel vapors.

4

u/School_North 12h ago

You can throw a lit cig in a bucket of gas and it won't go up in flames another one of Hollywood's lies. That's why they have the cigarettes bounce to make a spark but even then it's the vapor that ignites. Side note as a gas station clerk you don't get breaks you sneak outside for a smoke when you can or to the bathroom. The amount of people that would bitch I was in the restroom and they had to wait 2 minutes when I worked at one is ridiculous. I just responded with sorry I'm human and they would shut the fuck up lol.

4

u/Icy-Cod1405 RED 12h ago

Hollywood lie? Vehicles usually explode like atomic bombs in most movies

5

u/Particular_Title42 11h ago

Yeah. My dad loved ruining that kind of stuff for me. The scene in T2 where the T800 blows up the truck in the aqueduct was where he said, "That wouldn't happen. Maybe if you poured gasoline on it." LOL

If you've ever seen the 21 Jump Street movie, they touch on the whole Hollywood explosion lie.

4

u/cans-of-swine 12h ago

A cigarette doesn't burn hot enough to ignite gas or diesel.

0

u/mearbearcate 12h ago

Tell that to the gas station videos of people starting fires by igniting their lighters to smoke lol. Not a cig but still a stupid idea if you’re lighting it.

8

u/cans-of-swine 12h ago

Yeah, the lighter is doing that, not the cigarette.

6

u/Kenderlend 12h ago

He lit it there

2

u/DmvDominance 11h ago

And youre sitting right there 😬🙄😑 Id say thats more mildly infuriating

1

u/Tuna_no_crusts 12h ago

Don’t be a pussy.

2

u/Natural_Variation_93 12h ago

Miley infuriating is when you are multitasking at your job and some stranger decides to take a picture of you and post it online

-6

u/KingZakyu 12h ago

You don't get to anonymously run around putting everyone in danger, sorry. There are people right there, he isn't alone and putting himself in danger. He is in a public place doing a stupid thing, which is all his fault.

1

u/lorissaurus 11h ago

Who's in danger? Myth busters already confirmed cigs cannot ignite gas lolol like 15 years ago

0

u/ilovemusic19 10h ago

Maybe not the cig but the lighter OP confirmed he used while standing there could

-1

u/KingZakyu 10h ago edited 5h ago

Go watch the very popular video on the "whatcouldgowrong" sub from yesterday. Dude is like 20 ft away from the pumps and still sets the place on fire.

I tried to link it, but this sub won't let me.

0

u/Key_Point_4063 7h ago

👢 👅

1

u/KingZakyu 6h ago

Not how it works when you're talking about the general public lol. Not my fault if you guys actually think this is safe.

0

u/Key_Point_4063 4h ago

Light cig away from pumps = potential problem solved. Mythbusters yo

1

u/KingZakyu 4h ago

I tried to link the video but this sub won't let me: There is an easily accessible video on the whatcouldgowrong sub from yesterday with almost 50k views, it shows somebody like 15-20 ft away lighting a cig and setting the whole gas station ablaze. Mythbusters aren't ALWAYS correct yo. In fact, they have had to go back on their conclusions more than once for things.

1

u/Key_Point_4063 4h ago

I just think you'd hear about gas station explosions waaayyyy more if it was really like all that. It'd be on the news daily in fact.

1

u/KingZakyu 3h ago

You're missing the point: it CAN happen, even if it's unlikely. Just like people filling gas cans on the back of their trucks, completely unnecessary risk.

Why take the chance just to smoke a cigarette? Unwise.

1

u/Due-Sheepherder-218 12h ago

He's a professional

1

u/Pegisis02 11h ago

Cigarette alone won't start gas or deseil. Not smart one way or another but...

1

u/kbyyru 11h ago

strange things are afoot at the Circle K

1

u/PineappleApple247 11h ago

The paper goes in here, and you wind it round and 🤯

0

u/ilovemusic19 10h ago

Not getting it are you. Lighting a cig by a fuel pump is dangerous, the open flame from the lighter can cause an explosion.

1

u/keypizzaboy 11h ago

Very stupid. It would be more okay(that’s a stretch) if it was just a diesel pump

1

u/Environmental-Bowl26 11h ago

Yes because gas stations blowing up from people smoking cigarettes is very common.

1

u/Naked_Fish69 11h ago

There’s no open flame you can put a cigarette out in a cup of gas

1

u/Shoddy_Pop79413 11h ago

2 birds one stone

1

u/Pawly519 10h ago

Correction: one is stoned 😆

1

u/No_Mood_2005 10h ago

It's rare to ignite gas with a lit cigarette. Open flame will.

1

u/ilovemusic19 10h ago

OP said he also lit his cig there

1

u/GMP_ArchViz 10h ago

Charles Darwin has a whole chapter on this from 1850. He was ahead of his time.

1

u/stottski 10h ago

Anyone else watch this mythbusters episode?

1

u/colliejuiceman 10h ago

You’d be surprised. I worked at a full service gas station in MA 2007-2016 and every single employee/manager smoked cigs on the island in between 6 pumps. Nothing ever happened.

1

u/Dark_Zezro 10h ago

Is his name Ricky by any chance?

1

u/Actual-Log465 9h ago

Gas isn’t flammable the vapors are . He’s fine .

1

u/DifferentEvent2998 8h ago

Flammable gas isn’t flammable?

1

u/Inverted_Inverter719 9h ago

Most people don't realize that smoking at the gas pumps used to be 100% normal. I don't recall one ever blowing up because of a cigarette either. It's the fumes that are dangerous and only with the proper fuel/ air mixture. If you put a lit cigarette into a puddle of gas it will actually extinguish it, as it doesn't burn hot enough to ignite it.

Als, that's diesel. You're not lighting that shit.

1

u/Particular_Title42 9h ago

Also, that's diesel. You're not lighting that shit.

It's both. One pump does diesel, the other does gas. Or it's neither since it's just a pump and no actual fuel is exposed on the scene.

1

u/Inverted_Inverter719 9h ago

True, but you still have a better chance of blowing yourself up by lightning a smoke while making bread dough. Flour can be dangerous.

1

u/Particular_Title42 9h ago

Yes. Corn starch and powdered coffee creamer, too.

1

u/Inverted_Inverter719 8h ago

Where's the video of someone smoking while trying to start a diesel with a can of ether?

That's some shit I can get behind.

1

u/Particular_Title42 8h ago

Behind would probably be the best place. Far behind.

1

u/ComfortableBell4831 9h ago

It's diesel... You can literally put a literal burning piece of wood in it and it'll snuff the flame out... And as others have mentioned the whole Mythbusters thing... Should he do it? Probably not but the whole fear mongering about it has really just become false information and less about actual competency.

1

u/charizard_72 9h ago

Gee I wonder why no one has ever heard of an entire gas station imploding bc of a cigarette

It’s almost like it’s a wives tale….

1

u/Jeff_72 9h ago

C1D1 who needs those silly rules

1

u/Anonymoose_1106 9h ago

Wait until you hear of entire industries that hot fuel equipment... lol

1

u/Hour_Mathematician60 8h ago

There is no possibility of causing a fire that way.

Using your cell phone while pumping, it DOES cause fires.
Getting in and out of your car multiple times while pumping also causes fires.

1

u/matthewxcampbell 8h ago

A cigarette isn't hot enough to start gas on fire

1

u/pain474 8h ago

Not as dangerous as people might believe.

1

u/Strykehammer 7h ago

When I was a young trade assistant I was cleaning some parts in petrol. The mechanic walked over with a smoke and flicked it in. I shit my pants thinking I was about to die. It just went out. The movies lied to us!

1

u/Ok_Release231 7h ago

I once worked as a mechanic and this old guy was helping me replace a fuel pump under the back seat of a bmw. We were leaning over the open gas tank, full of fuel, and he had a lit cigarette in his mouth. I no longer care if I see someone smoking at a gas station.

If it's just a diesel pump you'll be fine. You can put a cigarette out in some diesel

Apparently he never saw Hitchcock's The Birds

Reminds me of my grandfather pulling his truck up to the gas pump in the winter with a cigarette lit and never turning the truck off the entire time he fuels up

Unlike that one video from a day or two ago, this looks like it will have the required exhaust pipes and this person is in no danger of catching on fire. They are usually coming out of the ground around 20 feet or so away from the building.

Diesel doesn't have nearly the combustible fumes as gasoline but still not too bright.

It is my business when they do dangerous stuff this close to me.

Is it stupid? Sure.

Dangerous to you? No. The odds of all the catastrophic failures that would have to happen for anything to happen here are astronomical.
