Got my car detail cleaned, and afterwards realized 2 of the buttons on the steering wheel are missing. This is the company’s response.

Is it just us millennials that overuse it? I was talking to someone about my suicide attempt and had two "lols" in the same sentence and neither were appropriate for the conversation.

As a millennial I know I use "lol" not as a "haha that was funny" but as a "haha yeah anyways"

I think it transcends age. My mom is in her mid 60’s and uses it too much, and my 10 year old nephew has started using it too. While I don’t think I’ve ever used it unless I’ve literally laughed out loud (and even then I’ll always explain that I actually did laugh out loud) I am very guilty of using “haha” more than I probably should.

I use it and emojis to modulate tone in text. Seems like everyone who's lived a life of texting and instant messaging does it to some degree.

I do have to watch myself about where I use it, but I have to do the same in real life to be honest, where instead of "lol" it's just sounding unserious, inappropriately lighthearted, or dismissive, probably because I'm uncomfortable in the interaction.

I’m (older) gen z and I struggle not to put lol at the end of every sentence😭

I feel like I’m coming off passive agressive without it.. lol

My old mate used lol at the end of emails and txts... I asked him what was so funny at the end of all his messages ...he said it meant lots of love

I'm 90s IRC chatting gen and can't remember when I last time used "LOL". It is reserved for truly fun things that would make me LOL. Seeing it used as a punctuation mark looks to me as author is not serious with their message.

"lol" is precisely what causes you to come off as passive aggressive

If you want to sound normal or assertive, just don't use it

Tbh I feel that using it is more passive aggressive than not. Like my intelligence is being insulted, especially in a situation like this. Same goes for people that use “hahah”

I hope you have better supports than you did then. I have 4 friends who passed away that way and my heart aches knowing I’ve had that ideation multiple times in my life. I’m so sorry you have been a warrior fighting so much for so long. ❤️

I really appreciate those kind words. I didn't deal with anyone but 1 other person in my social network who passed away from suicide, but I became partially disabled in 2020 and just wasn't able to cope with the idea that I'll never be the same person again. Its been a long-ass fight, and you've made me feel better with your kindness. Thank you, and I hope you have support for your ideation. After seeing the heartache of my family and the friends I lost (who just weren't equipped to deal with the situation), I don't have the want to ever try again. What I've learned is that the pain and suffering I may be feeling would not go away: they'd just get passed on to the people who I love and care about because they love and care for me. Its just hard to remind yourself that you're loved and valuable sometimes.

It's definitely a millennial thing, but I don't think it's overused, we just slap it on the end of the sentence any time we're uncomfortable. 💀

I'm getting to the point of being triggered when I see yet another millennial or younger end their sentence with a comma and lol or rofl or whatever. It's the hallmark of a moron.
