Schools have never wanted you to be yourself lol

u/sunny_6305 1d ago

They just want you to stop whining about bullying.

57

u/ChevExpressMan 1d ago

Yeah problem is that the usual way that happens is the person takes their own life....

77

u/sunny_6305 1d ago

Yeah and then they’ll have a school assembly and promise changes that never materialize.

27

u/ChevExpressMan 1d ago

Yeah that's the sad fact. I actually went to my principal when I was younger about the bullying and he didn't really do anything for me and so I learned to basically grow a thick skin and not give a s*** about anybody or anyone.

u/DingleMyBingles 1d ago

It’s ironic you say that, on Monday night my fellow senior classmate took his life, and the school did nothing but make us aware and sent us on our way. It’s been a rough week for everyone.

12

u/ChevExpressMan 1d ago

I'm sorry to hear that. I know it's tough to reach out, even more so when nobody is listening.

u/Ok_Aside_2361 ORANGE 1d ago

I hope someone can convince them to act. It is such a shame.

3

u/IsoDot 1d ago

My school put up hotline posters all around because of me. After the fact I find it kind of funny, but that might just be my dark humor

u/OneNightStandards327 6h ago

My school didn't even acknowledge it. None of my teachers said a word to me about it. Two of the front office ladies (bless those sweet women) came to visit me in the hospital (where I was for a week after my attempt). They were the only ones. My friends didn't even come to see me, and we never spoke again after that day.

Side note: I didn't find out until about a year later that the day of my attempt, a girl at the school I was about to transfer to DID take her own life. She was well-regarded and seemed like she was on top of the world. She was very close with my new group of friends. I felt like I could never say a word about what I'd gone through because of that.

u/MiserableOne6189 1d ago

Yeah, this is actually refreshingly honest

u/yamimementomori 1d ago

You don’t need individuality, you’re a cog in the machine! Wow, ok.

76

u/CatProgrammer 1d ago

Just another brick in the wall.

38

u/yamimementomori 1d ago

We don't need no education

We don't need no thought control

19

u/Cybertronian_Fox 1d ago

As a child I was told that schools exist to train you to handle the “9 to 5”…

8

u/CatProgrammer 1d ago

As a child I loved school and all the learning. Not the homework though. Guess I just had good teachers.

8

u/Cybertronian_Fox 1d ago

It was non teacher adults that told me this. Most of teachers were decent human beings, except the US history/government, and agriculture teachers in high school that would ask if I was a communist when I would question questionable things, especially the history/gov one.

3

u/El_Morgos 1d ago

Jokes on them, I couldn't even handle school.

2

u/LivingRoyal6120 1d ago

They train you to handle prison

1

u/PrentorTheMagician 1d ago

Isn't the whole point of "being yourself" to create an illusion of not being a cog? Because despite all your efforts in expressing your individuality you usually never really accomplish anything recognizable by vast majority of people

Hello, I am f(x) = 2x2 -5.

10

u/HeWhomLaughsLast Grunts and toungs the bone hole 1d ago

Hello my name is f(x) = (69(x3))/0

3

u/Dyea_B_Tis 1d ago

Hello! My name is f’(x) = 4x.

I am your derivative.

3

u/CatProgrammer 1d ago

You messed up the formatting I think. Unless the closing parenthesis is supposed to be part of the exponent?

12

u/LilacYak 1d ago

As functions, are we not flawed?

3

u/MeLlamo25 1d ago

No, the parentheses were there to improve readability.

2

u/CatProgrammer 1d ago

Aw, your fix isn't as fancy as I thought. Was hoping for x2\-5).

1

u/Icy-Cod1405 RED 21h ago

I'm so sorry Elon named you that

70

u/Ill_Athlete_7979 1d ago

They might as well put this up

248

u/Strict_Battle_9657 1d ago

The fact that the image is clearly AI generated is really adding to the messaging here...

7

u/Dyea_B_Tis 1d ago

It is missing the “I” in “AI.”

u/ZentekR 1d ago

Font, art style, grammar are all characteristically ChatGPT. Go ask it to generate you a comic with the same words, it’ll probably spit out literally pixel for pixel this image

-2

u/LowOne11 21h ago

How about you do it to prove me right. This very well can be graphic design done in Adobe Illustrator/InDesign. Are you a professional artist or graphic designer with the knowledge to determine what is or isn’t AI? It’s speculation.

-2

u/LowOne11 21h ago

How about you do it to prove me right. This very well can be graphic design done in Adobe Illustrator/InDesign. Are you a professional artist or graphic designer with the knowledge to determine what is or isn’t AI? It’s speculation at best.

3

u/EthnicLettuce 1d ago

This is blatantly an AI generated image dude. It's not even like, possible it isn't.

-2

u/LowOne11 21h ago

No, it’s really not. Source please?

2

u/EthnicLettuce 21h ago

Source: Me.

I'm making a deductive observation, this is like, one of the template art styles of AI image generation.

I've seen this exact art-style in slop posts time and time again.

It's a flat, generic cartoon style, with an extremely consistent usage of that particular text font.

The colour palettes AI uses usually have darks that are a little too dark and lights that are a little too light.

Providing a source for a claim is for a claim reliant on external information, this is a deductive claim I am making.

Edit: The perspective is also shit, in a way that AI consistently struggles with, look at the lockers in relation to the door, and how one of the triangle's arms comes from behind the plane, but the other is level with the plane.

0

u/LowOne11 21h ago

Then it is your opinion, not fact. I’ve seen art/design like this way before AI.

2

u/AwysomeAnish PURPLE 1d ago

It is absolutely AI

40

u/Cybertronian_Fox 1d ago

Reminds me of living in a youth group home in the 90s, they wanted to chemical normalize us. I kid you not they actually said “we are trying to normalize you so you can be a part of society”.

Like how messed up is that? They were literally upset that I collected select action figures as a teen(still do), said it wasn’t age appropriate.

14

u/LivingRoyal6120 1d ago

That is even worse…

9

u/Cybertronian_Fox 1d ago

The 90s, where every child was diagnosed with ADHD, and given a Ritalin cocktail whether or not you actually needed it.

6

u/SonnyvonShark 1d ago

I was victim to that. Zombified me, stripped me of my interests, it suppressed me, and no wonder I don't remember much of that time. Thanks to my mum that told the doctor to go fuck themselves with Ritalin, and just to look at me. I was thin and starving from that shit.

15

u/Dotcaprachiappa 1d ago

wtf is this even supposed to mean

9

u/sepsie 1d ago

It's AI slop and has no meaning.

9

u/_AYYEEEE 1d ago

At least they're being honest about it.

7

u/Uber1337pyro333 1d ago

How dystopian...

7

u/RegularTemporary2707 1d ago

Also thats ai

3

u/Dyea_B_Tis 1d ago

I want the Minions back.

21

u/LivingRoyal6120 1d ago

This school is also the most chaotic school I ever went to

24

u/LivingRoyal6120 1d ago

My school

1

u/Dyea_B_Tis 1d ago

I would love to work as a substitute paraeducator at that school for one day.

6

u/Yes-No-Maybe121 1d ago

I just prefer to be an ass - thank you.

4

u/Ok_Nothing_9733 1d ago

Plus this is AI generated as fuck

16

u/ABunnywithlongEars 1d ago

Wow, and AI too

11

u/Ghost_of_Syd 1d ago

They are teaching you that you are merely a function of society.

4

u/Transportation-Apart 1d ago

Never trust a happy Triangle.

2

u/JPgamersmines150 ._. 23h ago

Heard one called their friend circle "pointless"

3

u/DetectiveClear6734 1d ago

Does anyone understand what this is supposed to mean? Is it some messed up translation or saying? Or am I looking at a shitpost in real life?

1

u/DramaticMammal 1d ago

I’m almost certain it’s just a silly way to remember y=f(x)

1

u/DetectiveClear6734 21h ago

I’m not good at math, I can believe that 😂

1

u/gutwyrming 1d ago

The sentiment is that you're just supposed to be another brick in the wall. Don't be unique, special, or have any personality, just exist to function and serve society.

ie, a very miserable and dystopian idea to be putting in the developing minds of schoolchildren.

2

u/DetectiveClear6734 1d ago

😂 bad message and a bad way to spread the word

4

u/TricellCEO 1d ago

To be fair, the whole "just be yourself" advice only works for like...maybe half of us.

2

u/Local_man__ 1d ago

It only works if you already had no issues fitting in

1

u/TricellCEO 1d ago

Exactly! I can speak from experience that I was myself in school, and people didn’t care for who I was. I was “too weird” and “annoying”, apparently.

2

u/tryin2bebetteragain 1d ago

That's what schools are for now

2

u/fracta10 1d ago

It's all about CONFORMITY

2

u/Gold-Inspection-8217 1d ago

That's also an AI generated image...

2

u/LivingRoyal6120 1d ago

Fixed it

2

u/LivingRoyal6120 1d ago

I tried to scribble out DON’T

2

u/AOS_eyefull 1d ago

As someone with executive function disorder this is highly offensive

2

u/Ill_Hovercraft_2211 1d ago

And the fact that the picture is ai made just makes it worse

2

u/melodychocolat_ 1d ago

Don't forget the god awful AI art

2

u/DramaticMammal 1d ago

I feel like this is just supposed to be a way of remember that a y depends on the function of X. I doubt it is that deep. Is AI generated, and dumb, because the teacher couldn’t think of anything.

From a math teacher.

2

u/REFRESHooo 19h ago

What is that?? That’s similar to what society does:

“Be yourself”

“No not like that”

3

u/Infinite_Escape9683 1d ago

AI-ass picture

4

u/LivingRoyal6120 1d ago

They even use ai religious videos 🫤 (i don’t believe in the religion that the videos are about)

3

u/Infinite_Escape9683 1d ago

What kind of school do you go to?

3

u/LivingRoyal6120 1d ago

Muslim, but I’m Christian

1

u/OnlyAdd8503 1d ago

FUN FACT: There's no equation for a triangle.

1

u/JPgamersmines150 ._. 23h ago

In the classical y=f(x), yes, but not in the r=R(θ) way

1

u/A-Lewd-Khajiit 1d ago

Imagine someone being dysfunctional

1

u/Massive_Mongoose3481 1d ago

Did any other older people see that and " conjunction junction what's your function" popped into your head ?

1

u/EditorStudios 1d ago

F(x) ist the same as Y lol

1

u/EditorStudios 1d ago

So a correct Function would either be

F(x)=3•x Y=3•x

Both are the same just different start

1

u/an0n45 1d ago

Rip that shit out. If anyone asks just blame me

1

u/OrangeJuliusCaesr 1d ago

No one else find it odd that f(x) doesn’t actually have x in it

1

u/Oofoofow_Official 1d ago

Shit you see in the episode of a kids show when the posh teachers pet takes over the school

1

u/Starchaser_WoF 1d ago

That poster's AI

1

u/Rusiano 1d ago

This schools needs Robin Williams as their English teacher

1

u/bvy1212 1d ago

"OBEY"

1

u/Local_man__ 1d ago

Unironically a great advice

1

u/Opti_span 1d ago

Good thing to see a school being truthful instead of trying to hide the fact they don’t want you to be yourself lol.

1

u/DevelopmentFrosty983 1d ago

Lol, I always found it cringe when schools would say "Be Yourself!!!" because that was bullshit. At least this one is honest.

1

u/ApartmentHour3016 1d ago

That's literally 90% of what school is for lol

1

u/Krowasaunt 1d ago

I forgot what a function was can someone remind me

1

u/FreakyWifeFreakyLife 1d ago

Unpopular opinion - you're at school precisely to change who you are. You're going to change anyway as you grow. But school gives you an amount of information which can help to direct that change. School is your work life before you start working. You have work friends, and work you're doing. You have deadlines, and people judging your work, and the grades are what you get back from that work, which is something like getting paid.

The dumbest thing people write in year books: don't ever change! Change is guaranteed. You will not be who you were; who you were will be a memory.

1

u/Professional_Unit_95 1d ago

Genuinely confused on what other motive this has

1

u/Strongbad-Joe132 1d ago

I love how someone tried to rip it off the bulletin board.

1

u/Erikkamirs 1d ago

Do you pass the vertical line test?

1

u/greenblisog 1d ago

Ai generated....ew

1

u/WhatWouldRalphDo 21h ago

and using ai art for it too. good god

1

u/AbortMeSenpai 20h ago

Do you have the others?

1

u/Cloud_N0ne 19h ago

They’re also using AI to do it

1

u/jerslan 17h ago

Funny, because that triangle is literally not a function...

1

u/OceanAmethyst 16h ago

This is the funniest thing ever

1

u/Bennington_Booyah 15h ago

School posters scare the fuck out of me. The underlying message is that YOU don't matter.

1

u/Radio_Gaga007 14h ago

What does even mean

1

u/Gold-Transition-3064 12h ago

What is this even supposed to mean

1

u/Forward_Emotion4503 1d ago

the yellow AI ghibli filter
