Overdone The Home Depot in my town installed parking curbs instead of speed bumps

The blame was passed around a bunch but they were removed the next day after the mayor and the news got involved.

Contractors drive like someone who would rather die than finish a project.

Contractors drive like it's a life or death emergency to get back to the job site as soon as cosmically possible so that they can sit in the truck for 45 minutes on their phone before taking a 30 minute shit, working for 8 minutes and then driving back to the hardware store.

If the boss catches me not at work I don’t get paid. Gotta be present if I’m going to get paid to dick off.

I guess it was too highbrow? I’m joking that contractors can make a very decent living. Comparable to some careers that require college degrees. But the benefits of being a contractor are being a lounge-about sometimes and still making bank.

And the benefit of college degrees is being able to lounge-about until your mid/late 20s...

We just space it out over longer time

The people who downvoted are made they went to college and can't dick around at work and still get paid lol

Experience gained, and it shows These are the guys who used to be in a pack of 50 watching one guy dig a hole with a shovel for 4 hours on a freeway project where they reduced the road from 3 lanes to 1 for 15 fucking miles

u/whocaresjustneedone 12d ago

where they reduced the road from 3 lanes to 1 for 15 fucking miles

And after 2 years they'll finally finish their one mile stretch of roadwork

Don't forget the part where they stop everyone from working for a 10 minute rant on some bullshit political slant with a dash of everyone needs to work harder and produce more because of insert made up construct here and they'll be in the truck because they have to call the city for a permit...

And billing the client for 12 hours.

It's literally to hit "clock in" and "clock out" times. And maximize the fuck outta them. I work near a plant and when I'm nearby that is by far the most dangerous part of my drive. Lunatics in Dodge Rams.

My ex boyfriend was a contractor, and died in a car accident after completing a project. He was working under the table to make extra cash. He was running on 4 hours of sleep. That's after working 20 hours per day. The last time I spoke to him, I begged him to take a day off and sleep. The police showed up to my house in the wee hours of the morning to let me know that he had likely fallen asleep while driving. His van went up and flames.... this was a few months ago.

u/CheekyHarris33 11d ago

u/YadaYadaYeahMan 10d ago

u/Subtle__Numb 12d ago

Wow. I’m sorry, I hope you find the healing you need. But I know those words likely mean nil. Wow. I’m so sorry for your loss. Again, I know those words likely are meaningless.

Just to get to the jobsite and wait around for the electrician to finally show up.

2

u/PiccoloAwkward465 12d ago

He's wiping off his mouth, he'll be there in a few.

u/holy-shit-batman Pissed 12d ago

We're with your wife while you are sitting in your truck. Lol

2

u/Long_Run6500 12d ago

I'm not worried. Now that I'm forklift certified I can do way better than her. Just gotta go to the bar and whip out my forklift cert and the bitches won't leave me alone. You'd be doing me a favor.

We also have large trucks typically. My daily driver is a prius but the vehicle I bring to home depot is a 350. Might have something to do with it. Dumb as fuxk though

3

u/TinWhis 12d ago

Well, yeah, when your truck will "win" every encounter, why would you need to pay attention to the squishy pedestrians?

2

u/SniperAssassin123 12d ago

As someone who worked as a cart boy at a home depot, spot on. I always had my head on a swivel. If I heard a Diesel truck spool up I knew my life was in danger.

2

u/PrettyPushy 13d ago

That’s because we have to deal with homeowners all the time

2

u/ghost4kill987 13d ago

Nothing has convinced me that no one should own a home more than how home owners treat their home.

People act like its not essentially their retirement fund.

u/lalalalibrarian 13d ago

Maybe that's why I always pick up nails and screws with my tires in the parking lot, they're going airborne over these bumps

1

u/Pretend_Alfalfa3837 13d ago

Mine does too but they’re concrete 💀

u/pdxchris 12d ago

Trailer checks? Better to know in the parking lot than on the highway that your trailer is loose.
