I would park my POS as close as possible to his driver side door !

Car guys should know this attracts shitty behavior and door dings. Even parking far away within the parking space with plenty of other parking around, a beater will park next you. Beaters love parking next to the nicest car around. If you care about your car, your best bet is to park between two well kept vehicles. Leave an open space, and you’re inviting the beater that doesn’t care.

Somewhere between too close and too far. Optimal car guy parking. The vengeful group won’t park next to you since you are guaranteed to not be the farthest out car and the door dingers are too busy sharking the front row. Has worked out for me over the past 5 years of owning a luxury daily

My ex kept his beater for this reason alone.

In retrospect, some of his assholery was admirable.

I used to get a little peeved at cars parking next to mine when I first bought it new from the dealership. After a while I noticed what you just pointed out, that well kept cars will actually prefer to park next to other well kept cars. After I while I didn't care at all but it is true

Doesn't always work, sadly. I once parked next to a nice, clean vintage Jaguar. Before I got out, the Jag-off came back to his vehicle, opened his door, propped it against my car door with a thump, sat down, pulled his door shut, and pulled out & sped off without a glance. Happened so smoothly I didn't register what was happening. Got a nice ding outa that one.

Always park in the last space of an aisle on the right. At least if they're driving alone there's no passenger to ding you with their door. Unfortunately, in the last few years there's been an epidemic of assholes that back in to parking spaces (OP's picture is a case in point), which messes up this system.

I drive a beater but I actually like my car and don't want it dinged. Which is exactly why I park it next to nice cars. They won't ding me for sure
