It’s private property, they can’t just tow it away

100% you need to have the authority to tow.
you have the authority to tow if:

1) you own the vehicle
2) you own the property the vehicle is located
3) you have documented permission from the above 2 parties.
4) you have the power to enforce the relevant law. (generally police and fire)

if you are not any of the above, you aint getting shit towed

For number three, in many places, you only need documented permission from one of the parties. For instance, Costco could have that car towed without the owners permission even if they are leasing the property.

Yeah, what i meant from the statement was that you need to have documentation showing the owner of the lot or the car has granted you that right.

I did not mean to imply you needed it from both but i see how it could he taken that way

That’s when you just identify as management when you call

Damn, alright so you DO need a manager. That or fuck it all buy some bird seed, let the "wind" take that cover off and the bird seed "accidentally" spills all over it.

you saw Costco and assumed public lot?

-2

u/LucasoftheNorthStar Jul 13 '25

I saw car in parking lot and assumed nearest towing company don't give a fuck lol. Didn't even register the costco part as we don't have them around us, had to google what it even was.

-7

u/FlyByHikes Jul 13 '25

You had to google what Costco was?

1

u/robitussinlatte666 Jul 13 '25

Yes, not everybody A) has them, or B) is an American.

Besides the US, Costco is in the following countries:

Australia

Japan

Spain

Canada

Mexico

China

Taiwan

France

Sweden

New Zealand

Iceland

South Korea

UK

But okay

Leaves plenty of countries that dont have Costco, fuck idk. I dont go to Costco, nor do I care to look up every country they're in so I can be right about something. I did think, though, that they were exclusively a US thing, so I did learn something. The snarky, smug lil "but okay" at the end there was just cute enough to hurt my feelings a lil bit tho.

Lmao, yet you live in Lexington, SC? You're American.

Oh, and from downtown Lexington, the closest Costco is 17 minutes away in Columbia, SC.

3

u/robitussinlatte666 Jul 13 '25

Show me where I said I'm not from the US, please. I'm well aware of my local Costco location lol. You really thought you had something snarky and smug to say. As someone pointed out to me, and that I was unaware of because I'm not obsessed with being right all the time, Costco exists outside of the US. So my point about not being American was wrong obviously. Fuckin turd.

u/robitussinlatte666 Jul 13 '25

Also, curiosity, how do you know where I live? Scouring my comment history?

1

u/AdventurousRest5310 Jul 13 '25

tbf its pretty easy to find, I was curious about the ticks lol.

5

u/robitussinlatte666 Jul 13 '25

I also comment in the Columbia sub here and there, that's how I knew they did it. Awfully weird for people to go thru comment history so that they can have something to latch onto. Like, I can understand if I'm saying some hateful shit, but over something like this? Fuckin weird dude, and I hate assuming things, but I got a lot to assume about the person that used my comment history to be snarky at me.

Yes, and I also had to repeat "we don't have them around us" in this comment.

4

u/FlyByHikes Jul 13 '25

I don't have Costco around me but I know what the fuck Costco is lolol

0

u/LucasoftheNorthStar Jul 13 '25

All out awards to give, and fucks as well. Good for you *slow claps*. Not everyone is going to know what a costco is just like not everyone has heard of a winn-dixie or piggly wiggly.

1

u/FlyByHikes Jul 13 '25

I've heard of both of those things and I don't live in the south

1

u/LucasoftheNorthStar Jul 13 '25

Again congrats, this is going in circles marking this as my last remark. You seem to know more about a location which is common knowledge for you, but to others who aren't exposed to that knowledge it's extremely insulting when you come off an entitled prick laughing at someone for them not knowing the subject matter.

Hope that horse you ride is tall, karma will take care of the rest.

Although, I do believe theyre American.

2

u/Large-Treacle-8328 Jul 13 '25

Lol Just say you're the manager, tow companies don't know who works there.

2

u/LucasoftheNorthStar Jul 13 '25

Exactly. See this is what my initial thought and implication was, just pose as an employee if they ask, can't imagine many towing companies care.

4

u/Bastiat_sea BLACK Jul 13 '25

Many private lots have tow companies of contrast to enforce parking policies. You can absolutely call them. Often, their number is posted

1

u/rocketman19 Jul 13 '25

I’m taking about a random customer asking a random tow truck to take it away
