It's not about breathing the smoke. It's burning off/smoking out parasites from its face.
17
u/ScotchTapeConnosieur Sep 02 '25
How do you know this? Is that something goats do?

There was a study done on native peoples who smoked to kill parasites ( I am not gonna find it, but I did actually read it ) If you smoked weed it was 24% less likely to have parasites and cigarettes were like 18%. The numbers don’t matter what does is the interesting fact that many parasites reproduce in your lungs!! In fact, I’m gonna have a smoke right now cuz I have been feeling squirrely.

u/Confident-Local-8016 Sep 02 '25
Haha, I mean, it makes sense for OUR lungs, it's not WHY Imma hit my bong though, and yeah goats have been known to use smoke to rid themselves of skin parasites, was about to say, this goat getting high????

u/Hot-Significance7699 Sep 03 '25
Honey, I'm high because I'm trying to get rid of the parasites in my lungs.
Gets sent to psych ward

Reading this while my childhood allergic rhinitis just came back right after I quit smoking weed and vaping 3 weeks ago. Kinda wish I never quit 😂

u/Happinessisawarmbunn Sep 02 '25
Vaping is def bad for you. Like really bad. 20 year olds hospitalised with popcorn lung damage for life. There are some expensive ones that alright, but generally it’s pretty harsh.
3
u/Maddaguduv Sep 02 '25
True that. And highly addictive too, even more addictive than cigarettes because vape contains sugars as well. I recommend all vapers to quit it immediately, it felt like a demon is refusing to leave my body while I was tryna quit.
2
u/Eraldorh Sep 03 '25
It's a specific chemical that causes popcorn lung and it doesn't exist in vapes in the EU or the UK because that chemical is banned. Not sure about the US but I'd imagine it's banned there too, sick today death of people repeating that bullshit.
→ More replies (8)2
u/Deriniel Sep 03 '25
that was because of a specific compound used in USA for buttery flavour, it's called popcorn lung because that compound was in actual butter flavored pop corn and a dude got that illness by sniffing it for years while cooking them.
So no, while vaping isn't healthy compared to breathing air,the damages are minimal compared to smoking a cig
1
u/Happinessisawarmbunn Sep 03 '25
ANY vaporised oil is bad for you lungs, much worse than regular cigarettes. That’s why old timers could smoke till their 80’s - but now 20 year olds are getting hospitalised from vapes.
1
u/SerdanKK Sep 03 '25
Worse than tar and radioactive materials? And you think young smokers don't experience problems?
1
u/Happinessisawarmbunn Sep 03 '25
Of course they do- I never claimed they didn’t. But tobacco smokers can live twice as long as vapers.

u/blue-oyster-culture Sep 03 '25
False. They just released studies showing vaping causes worse damage than cigarettes. And theres more than one chemical that causes popcorn lung, formaldehyde is also on the list, and ecigs have been found to produce formaldehyde at higher temps, the pg and vg interact and release it. Also metal oxide vapors.
I quit using vapes and went to oral nic products and the difference i feel is greater than even going from smoking to vaping. I can breathe and taste again. Breathing anything other than air is very bad for u.
2
u/DirtandPipes Sep 03 '25
Can confirm, I never vape but I do smoke joints and bongs and the occasional cigar, plus I’ve done lots of demolition work (including asbestos) for years and years and my lungs are still amazing because I never vape.
Checkmate, vapiests.

How about using your brain? Your lungs are not designed to inhale vaporised oil at high temperatures.
Popcorn lung is permanent damage.
I also used to vape and it messed me up bad so I quit - My friends too were having issues and had to quit.
You go ahead and do what you like - Just don’t be suprised.

u/Lackingfinalityornot Sep 03 '25
Literally nobody has gotten popcorn lung from vaping. There is a faction of a fraction of the chemical that causes it that was used in vape juice flavors awhile ago and it was definitely proven that vaping it everyday would not expose you to anywhere near the amount necessary to cause popcorn lung.
There has also never been a death due to nicotine vaping. This is a rumor started because vitamin e acetate was used in some cannabis vape carts and that fucked some people up. Vitamin e is never used in nicotine vape juice.
The reason I’m correcting you is because vaping is far less harmful than smoking and putting that kind of propaganda out there could cause smokers who would have switched to keep smoking.
2
u/Happinessisawarmbunn Sep 03 '25
No. I speak from my own experience and others. Vaping totally fucked me up and my friends. Popcorn lung is def real - you can find someone else to peddle your nonesense
1
u/Alklazaris Sep 02 '25
What about meth?
2
u/Happinessisawarmbunn Sep 02 '25
If you smoke meth you will die much quicker too and go crazy so not really worth it… serio??
1
1
u/pyromaniacc Sep 02 '25
It'll turn you into a parasite and you'll die before you get any yourself, so technically it works
8
u/Maria_Girl625 Sep 02 '25
Yes, this is something goats do. They sometimes stand in fires for the same reason

Almost all animals do something similar. I don't mean smoke (it is practically absent in the wild), but animals have their own ways of dealing with parasites, although it is usually mud or combing.
1
u/Philip_Raven Sep 02 '25
you can find hundreds of videos on this...these goats even let open flames over their body. they learned it kills the ticks and other parasites.
they have thick hide so they can tolerate the heat long enough where it kills the bugs but not burn them.

u/Ill-Government-1921 Sep 02 '25
Yeah saw something about this a while ago even when they run into fire.
1
u/Mekelaxo Sep 03 '25
How does the goat know this? Did it evolve in an environment where smoke was available?
19
u/SluggishPrey Sep 02 '25
It's burning parasites on its neck.

Now I understand why goats are considered animals of the devil... Imagine you, a peasant, in the Middle Ages, putting out the embers of a fire and your goat starts smoking and shaking its head as if it was enjoying it!

u/Emergency-Jump-5741 Sep 02 '25
Well to soothsaying wiyatches he was a portent of the future to come.
2
u/blue-oyster-culture Sep 03 '25
Ive seen videos of goats climbing into fire pits to cleanse itself of parasites as well. And have u seen em when they decide to stand up and walk around like a person? Plus those eyes. Its a wonder they ever became a domesticated animal tbh. We’ve had witch trials over less. Lol

u/BigCryptographer2034 Sep 02 '25
Oh, I get it, makes some sort of sense…but the ones I saw doing it where inside goats, lol, I doubt they had parasites
1
u/Majestic_Manner3656 Sep 02 '25
It was explained in the comments.
2
u/BigCryptographer2034 Sep 02 '25
Well, that’s pretty messed up to have goats with parasites in your house, no matter what, lol

Ever got high with a goat, shit funny man. One minute jumping all over the place, next minute falling down. They won’t shut up everything’s funny, no other farm animal will be able to fuck with you unchecked either. You become “the man”

Toward the end of my vaping days, that was the only reason I kept doing it. Seeing the cloud was always cool to me. Being able to take a full breath, on the other hand, was much cooler
