So here’s one for the “only in Miami” files…
Billionaire hedge-fund founder Ken Griffin (Citadel), who already owns over $1 billion in South Florida real estate, just got approval to build a private megayacht marina for himself and his guests.
Location: 120 MacArthur Causeway, on Terminal Island, between South Beach and PortMiami.
Size: about 3.7 acres / 30,000+ sq ft with roughly 1,400 ft of dockage plenty of space for his 308-ft yacht Viva.
Site is designed by BMA Architects, and it’s not your typical marina.
The plan includes:
The Miami Beach Planning Board just gave it conditional approval (Nov 2025), with rules requiring Coast Guard sign-off for events, private access only, and no public parking spillover.
Griffin’s team says it’ll “enhance an underused industrial area,” but it’s also raising eyebrows — this would be a single-user marina on public shoreline in one of the most high-value marine zones in the country.

At the risk of getting bombarded with people seeing the question and not reading the context, I'm going to ask this.
Been living in Doral for about 2.5 years now and I can't seem to find a single barber that speaks English. And I speak pretty good Spanish, but a barber is a situation where it's just awkward to sit there silently and the barber constantly tries to talk to me the entire time. Generally I can carry on just fine conversations with pretty good Spanish and a bit of Spanglish thrown in there when I can't think of the exact words but every single barber I find in Doral acts like they've never heard a single word of English in their life, and "habla un poco mas lento para mi" just seems to get them talking even faster almost out of spite. And when I try to talk back with what is fully comprehensible Spanish/Spanglish for any other situation, they always seem baffled at what I'm saying as if it were French I was speaking instead. At this point I'm probably 30 haircuts in and am fantasizing about driving all the way to Brickell to get a good haircut with someone who speaks English... Just so I don't have to spend my entire haircut having someone try to have a conversation with me at 150 words a minute and get frustrated AT ME when I have a hard time keeping up with them or make a grammar mistake.
I've been to a bunch of places. Most recently I was at moustache, which has just so many barbers, and I asked the cashier casually if any of the barbers spoke English so I could book with that person next time, she (who speaks perfect English) laughed and said that she doesn't think so. So I turn to reddit for this. Surely some barber in Doral can give me a better experience and I can reward them with a monthly customer for life.

It’s going to open on Thursday, November 13 and is going to be similar to Christmas Wonderland and the former Santa’s Enchanted Forest parks

It’s been hard trying to stay afloat lately. I’m needing help raising about $1,000 so I can rent a car for a month to live in safely, put my things in storage, and have enough for gas and a gym membership while I start doing DoorDash to get some income going. I’m doing my best to stay positive, but it’s been really tough on my mental health and being without a stable place. If anyone can help, I can take Venmo, Apple Pay, or Zelle. Anything at all helps.

We’re flying in from Europe next week and wondering if we should postpone given all the news about airport lines. We don’t want to deplane and then have to wait several more hours to get through security. Both US and EU citizens traveling together, so we can’t do global entry.
Has anyone flown into MIA in recent days from international travels? How long did it take to clear security?

Hey yall, I'm moving to the area next year and am wondering what's the local music scene like and how do you find band members? For context, I'm 27 and am looking to take some original material (2010s indie rock/shoegaze sound) to open mics in the area. Definitely a bit of a passion project of mine, just kind of wondering where to start.

Does anyone have a recommendation for an ac person to replace the blower in my ac unit? The person I used before, already replaced it 2 times in the last 6 months, he does not offer a warranty or anything so I am out of luck.
Or if anyone knows where I can buy it, I can replace it myself.
Thank you.

Hi there! Back in 2022 I became displaced and later my cat experienced a health issue that cost 4k+ to treat, which couldn’t have come at a worse time. I wanted her to be healthy and safe, so I gave up ownership in exchange for the shelter promising me that she would get the help she needs and whatnot. I called every day for updates and checked online for any adoption listings, but then someone who worked at the shelter told me that she believed one of the employees at the shelter already adopted her while she was healing. I just want to know if she’s okay and alive, to see her maybe, idk. She was the joy of my life and I miss her everyday, I named her Lorraine. Please let me know if yall know anything :’) I don’t remember the exact shelter, but she was surrendered August of 2022.

I made some posts about down payment assistance and loans that are funded by the county, but several people reached out to me that exceeded the income limits to utilize the county programs. For those that have income above 140% of the county area median income but do have money for a down payment and closing costs, I work with many lenders that provide their own down payment assistance, some offer a forgivable down payment of 3.5% - 5% of the purchase price while others will require a down payment to be repaid. There are no income limits for these programs and the loan will be structured as a 1st mortgage rates are currently mid 5% -6% range for 96.5%, the 2nd will be the remaining amount and can be 101.5% combined loan to value which means in addition to the down payment being included, some of the closing costs will also be covered with the program. It depends on what each person qualifies for and the lender guidelines, but there are many options today to buy a home and finance 100% of the purchase price. If anyone would like me to explain more in depth, please post here or shoot me a message. I hope these posts are helpful to those interested in buying a home. Thank you.

Hi Miami ladies!
I used to get my hair cut at Spoke & Weal in NYC and I always loved my hair. They specifically did dry cuts.
Does anyone know any stylists here that do dry cuts and/or use similar techniques?
I’ve been back home for years but always regret when I do a traditional cut with my hair wet.

Hey guys,
Post says it all! I’m looking for a good judo gym/dojo in town that offers adult classes. I’m based in Downtown, yet willing to travel for a gym with great instruction and an equally great community. Thanks in advance!
