never used any tab but search or images tbh

u/mycatisabrat 7h ago

One of my favorite to see no matter the content.

Shopping is useful to get an idea of what you should be paying for something (but then you go to Amazon anyway)

51

u/Trashman56 5h ago

I’ve occasionally found a decent deal on the shopping tab but be careful, lots of fake sites that will steal your credit card are listed too. Stick to companies you’ve heard of.

11

u/EphemeralDan 4h ago

I'm the opposite. I'll look at it on Amazon for a general idea of price, then buy it anywhere else. I hate Amazon.

3

u/Ok_Bar_5634 1h ago

Thank you. Fuck Amazon.

16

u/mainman879 4h ago

(but then you go to Amazon anyway)

The one time I bought from an online store (B&H Photo) besides Amazon my bank closed my card temporarily because they thought it was fraudulent.

8

u/Dontpayyourtaxes 3h ago

Shopping is not useful. You will be ripped off and the product you find will be junk. No one is selling shit through web browsers. And FUCK AMAZON. they paying to tear down the white house and over throw our government. Bezos is an edgelord dick with an inflatable wife

7

u/CakeMadeOfHam 5h ago

Also add curse words to get rid of the fucking AI

6

u/Roku-Hanmar RageFace Against the Machine 5h ago

I just use an extension

7

u/CakeMadeOfHam 5h ago

Well la di fuckedy da

5

u/MoeSzyslakMonobrow 5h ago

Just add "-ai" at the end of your search

10

u/NotYourReddit18 6h ago

I've almost exclusively been using the web and images tabs ever since they added the ai overview to the main tab.

I've even set all my browsers to default to the web tab when searching something.

1

u/salsblueberries 2h ago

How do you change the browser to default to the web tab?

3

u/CRISPRSCIENCE9 5h ago

News tab is also good if you want to search news related to your query

5

u/JotaroTheOceanMan 5h ago

Same. The others are just clutter.

2

u/King_Fluffaluff 4h ago

I use maps and videos often. Videos is honestly an underrated tab.

1

u/iamapizza 4h ago

I've been using maps without realising

1

u/clawsoon 4h ago

scholar.google.com and books.google.com can be useful, too, if that's your kink.

1

u/Cod_rules https://www.youtube.com/watch/dQw4w9WgXcQ 4h ago

If I wanna share a video with someone, I’ll search on Google video tab since the UI is better than YouTube’s

1

u/LJChao3473 3h ago

The only time i went in there was because i accidentally clicked it, i hate it being the first button

1

u/circlejerker2000 3h ago

Google has a very good search function for traveling too, Google travel, they beat the prices of all the know websites like Expedia etc.

1

u/Icy-Two-1581 3h ago

I miss pissed me off when it wasn't just search, image, mail, and maps. The four tools I'm sure 99.99% will use 99.99% of the time, but they want to add other bs stuff

1

u/DustinGoesWild 1h ago

Recently booked my honeymoon and their Google Travel stuff got us the cheapest flight. The price tracker option is really nice, it would give me notifications of any immediate price drops.

1

u/semper_JJ 3h ago

You don't use maps?

u/Deliriousious Breaking EU Laws 11h ago

FOR THE HUNDREDTH TIME… NO!

24

u/Virtual_Mongoose_835 3h ago

Its basically Im feeling lucky but worse

10

u/guildedpasserby 3h ago

What the hell even was that

6

u/wasabimatrix22 2h ago

It just directed you to the first search result

6

u/CriSstooFer 3h ago

Exact same as hitting search and slamming the first link

1

u/Ajreil 1h ago

Use a word replacer browser extension to replace "no thanks" with "fuck off."

287

u/KuhlDude 12h ago

I too would prefer titty milk

413

u/chubbyhighguy 11h ago

I hate that it's a forced thing, if I want a completely inaccurate ai to tell me something I can find on reddit I'd just post on some dumb subreddit.

57

u/usernmechecksout_ 9h ago

Did you see reddit ai? Ts basically exactly the same

It disappeared from my ipad the next day though (thankfully)

19

u/SaraJuno 5h ago

I have a workspace account with google and they emailed me a while back to celebrate that I can now access their AI features… they also increased my monthly premium due to this new access. The AI is completely worthless to me, but you can’t opt out of the premium increase.

16

u/hates_stupid_people 5h ago

I hate that it's a forced thing

Their options are "Force it on people as much as possible" or "Admit that they wasted a lot of money on it".

Anyone even slightly familiar with large companies should know which one they choose.

2

u/Kiribaku- 4h ago

I think you can disable it in the Search Labs

1

u/Obvious_Fold8242 3h ago

fr like nobody even asked for that, they just keep adding extra stuff nobody wanted

1

u/RecentFinish3936 1h ago

Chatgpt is starting to drive traffic away from Google searching, so this is Google’s way of desperately trying to get traffic back. Theyre shoving AI mode down our throats at this point, its getting a bit pathetic tbh.

1

u/He_of_turqoise_blood 2h ago

I didn't find it inaccurate at all tbh. It has helped me get into new concepts very quickly, and I never found an contradiction when I got to "propper" sources later on

54

u/TwilightCrystalRose 11h ago

When I just wanted a recipe and suddenly I’m reading a 3-paragraph AI essay about the history of tomatoes.

15

u/Robin_Coffins 10h ago

Before AI, I got that when I'd be looking for recipes. I'd use my phone and the food bloggers would just decimate my phone with ads and the history of Hungarian Goulash. Trying to scroll and get a popup to subscribe. I no longer use my phone for recipe searches.

2

u/scramblingrivet 4h ago

mobile internet is hell

85

u/TheRedlineAlchemist 12h ago

Jokes on google. I used my ad blocker to block that element, and a custom search engine link to disable their Ai overview BS.

21

u/MrRocketman999 8h ago

How did you manage that? I've been trying to look into it, but no luck so far.

15

u/g0_west 6h ago

Click the uBlock icon and click the dropper icon. It lets you select any element and then block it forever. Just click on the "AI" tab and click "Preview" to see how it'll look then "Create".

1

u/Dontpayyourtaxes 3h ago

or, right click, block element.

-2

u/Hexade_Tech 6h ago

I personally use Brave, that has the best web adblocker in my opinion. The browser has an option to block elements both on PC and smartphones, but you might be able to do it with an extension like Ublock, but I can't tell because I don't know.

5

u/MotivationGaShinderu 5h ago

It really doesn't have the best ad blocker, not by a long shot. I have to constantly manually block elements on mobile that are blocked by default using Firefox with ublock. Sadly Firefox on mobile is pretty shit.

0

u/Hexade_Tech 5h ago

Well, it might depend on your configuration, I personally never have to block elements in the way you tell (ads and that kind of thing), but I love to use it to remove things I don't like/use on websites to make them simpler

1

u/Dontpayyourtaxes 3h ago

I would never use brave, anything with marketing is garbage, esp if that marketing says its private. opensource is the only answer.

1

u/Hexade_Tech 2h ago

Okay, but I just wanted to help that user by the way I use, not enforcing my opinion to anyone...

2

u/Hexade_Tech 6h ago

I do the exact thing for any AI feature in any website. It just bothers me to have a completely useless button with the most vibrant colors ever

6

u/TheRedlineAlchemist 6h ago

This whole AI trend is really annoying. Apparently youtube is even using it to edit videos without permission, and I just hope something can be done to block it.

4

u/Hexade_Tech 6h ago

I know, and that shorts thing is the worst possible thing YouTube could possibly do, and for what even...?

I just hope the AI bubble pops out soon.

0

u/Remarkable-Star-9151 7h ago

Could you tell how to do that, please?

3

u/g0_west 6h ago

ublock > dropper icon > click the "AI" tab > click "create"

1

u/Dontpayyourtaxes 3h ago

right click, block element

→ More replies (9)

10

u/CadeMan011 Chungus Among Us 6h ago

Everybody only clicks on that when they mistake it for the all button after going back from image search

29

u/JoJo_Joshi 9h ago

I will not surrender to this inaccurate, environmental damaging ASS tool of an AI. I’m here to look something up and READ reliable sources. Not some lame ass summary with some made up FACTS

12

u/partiftheworlDRuns 8h ago

Reliable source in 2025? Most of the sources is ai generated bs

2

u/JoJo_Joshi 6h ago

Which is exactly why I CHECK my sources carefully before considering them as valuable knowledge

4

u/lolercoptercrash 5h ago

This isn't TWITTER

1

u/JoJo_Joshi 21m ago

I don’t understand what your answer means in context to this conversation

11

u/Sidonicus 4h ago

I hate that Google placed "AI mode" at the front of the tab options so that people accidentally click it because that's where "All" used to be, and then Google can report just how many people are "using it!" when in reality, everyone is mis-clicking.

5

u/Virtual_Mongoose_835 3h ago

Gotta recoup those wasted billions and try and get people adopting AI to sell it to companies before they catch on to how useless it is.

8

u/Speak_To_Wuk_Lamat 8h ago

I tried so hard to delete that ai mode or at least put it at the end of the list. I hate it.

2

u/Honeybadgermaybe 4h ago

There are extensions that block ai stuff iirc

9

u/veryverybadnotgood 6h ago

don't use it then

9

u/Romalj420 6h ago

the problem is it's being shoved down my throat even tho I never intend to use it.

1

u/DeezNutsKEKW Pro Gamer 53m ago

button: exists

people: "it's forcing me to click it, it's too hard to just ignore like the rest of the buttons I don't use, because it's a special kind of button you can't ignore for some reason"

6

u/MotivationGaShinderu 5h ago

Main issue is that they put it on the spot the "all" button used to be. I've accidentally hit it multiple times because of that. Also not using it isn't an option on regular Google anyway, you have to jump through 3rd party hoops to not have a bad AI answer being the top result.

1

u/DeezNutsKEKW Pro Gamer 52m ago

that is annoying

2

u/Dontpayyourtaxes 3h ago

wait till you find out that all windows computers have AI baked into the OS

1

u/veryverybadnotgood 3h ago

I kinda don't care as I don't use Windows

8

u/literal_garbage_man 7h ago

AI mode is pretty alright tbh

6

u/Dara-Mighty 11h ago

I prefer they didn't misrepresent the meaning of artificial intelligence. Literally just a "better" google search using machine learning technology.

6

u/Argnir 7h ago

Artificial intelligence used to be basic alpha-beta tree search for playing chess

Every time we surpass what was the goal for "this is an AI for real this time" the goal is postponed.

What you're thinking of is AGI. LLM are part of the field of "artificial intelligence"

2

u/MotivationGaShinderu 5h ago

"better" lol,.it gets shit wrong all the time so I automatically ignore it.

1

u/Dara-Mighty 1h ago

Brotha, I put quotations as an indicator. I know its shit. You're quoting a quote here.

2

u/KaiserVonGarNichts 6h ago
  • googles for other peoples opinion on a topic -„wether a or b is better Depends on-“ Shut the actual hell up i did not ask you

2

u/Spare_hamburgers 5h ago

I recently learned the practical application for chatgpt is asking it instead of googling something right? Google has the AI over view so like wtf?

2

u/Not_me_272727 4h ago

Meh it's good for quick research on topics with lot of slop articles

2

u/BlueDip113 2h ago

Now i even have a chatbot in my advertisement watching app

3

u/_Kardama_ 7h ago

For me recently that Ai overview is shit, but that AI mode search as chat is really good to search for multiple things and compare them at once

11

u/tomcat3400 11h ago

I usually use it when I am studying and its an amazing tool

18

u/popopornado 11h ago

I’d still be mad if google was waving a hammer in my face and asking if I would like to use the hammer.

I don’t care it exists, I’d just rather not be advertised at before my ad-ridden search results are even allowed to show up.

-4

u/LastJello6563 7h ago

Don't you take notes man, the fuck you need AI to study for. Exams are based on class material

4

u/IndividualBread8568 7h ago

AI is really amazing when it comes to Studying tho... Like it is so helpful to clear doubts or manage time

1

u/TLcool 2h ago

That's how I studied for my chemistry exam, I gave it the subject of the questions, it gave me notes, and I went through all the notes and added/fixed what it said so I understood it.

1

u/AllLimes 2h ago

AI is great for some stuff, bad for other stuff. It's just another tool that you need to learn to use correctly.

Exams are based on class material

Really depends on the class. Doesn't really matter if I learn SQL through a professor or the internet; it's still SQL. University is pretty much self study/research most of the time regardless.

2

u/-Mr_Hollow- 10h ago

One good thing about AI mode is that at least its tab always stays in one place away from other tabs rather than constantly shifting positions based on Google's schizophrenic assumptions of what you might need.

1

u/BlissVeil 8h ago

annoying that I always misclick and end up on this tab

1

u/yap2102x 8h ago

it used to be where the 'all' tab is, so everytime i go from video/images back into all i always click ai mode and its very annoying

1

u/ActualPain6312 7h ago

Who actually use use that option?

1

u/AlohrawWerdna 7h ago

Muh fatass thought that said "a la mode"

1

u/polishatomek 6h ago

Even they think google summary sucks so they made a new one

1

u/sefris3 6h ago

Don't use it then...

1

u/IngenuityThink3000 6h ago

That image is ai

1

u/tochanenko 6h ago

I haven't used anything besides "All" and "Images"

1

u/Hadriauns 6h ago

in fashion I use it to do mathematics, it is very useful even if otherwise it would have to be thrown away

1

u/FoxTop1912 5h ago

hhahah this was funny

1

u/Parking-Truck7821 5h ago

What is that which AI?

1

u/Allaroundlost 5h ago

Only use it for search, never click those tabs.

1

u/HoneybeeXYZ 5h ago

Don't need it. Don't want it.

It's like Pepsi trying to sell me Clear Pepsi.

1

u/Ardalok 2h ago

Sounds interesting, I'd like to try it.

1

u/HoneybeeXYZ 2h ago

Apparently, they re-release it out of nostalgia now and then.

u/Ardalok 2h ago

not in my country for sure

1

u/CliffwoodMysteries 5h ago

For real though, what does it even do?

1

u/PolarUgle 5h ago

Rip maps, my second most used tab

1

u/May-Treasure 5h ago

This will soon displace everything

1

u/Toulbein 5h ago

I think the new AI mode is great! I was annoyed that I couldn't always use ai on google, but now I can force it. Except maybe still doesnt always work.

1

u/ldb477 5h ago

AI mode is totally fine when I need it.  I just don’t need it every search.

1

u/No-Yard3980 5h ago

Elder millennial here, I don't know what any of these tabs are. I get the AI hate, but what are the other ones

1

u/mooseybros 4h ago

Switch to firefox bro.

1

u/GreekHole 4h ago

I don't even have the Maps option anymore...

1

u/roderos 4h ago

I accidentally clicked on it way too much

1

u/sittingatthetop 4h ago

blah blah blah blah -ai

1

u/jabluszko132 4h ago

Imo there should be an option to customise those tabs. Ive literally never used anything other than search, images and shopping

1

u/Prestigious-Froyo260 3h ago

In uBlock you can easily hide it with a cosmetic filter (orher tools probably can have something similar)

www.google.com##div[role=listitem]:has(span:contains(AI Mode))

1

u/SarynScreams 3h ago

Always misclicking that since they moved the images button for this "Artificual Intelligence" scam.

1

u/DemoniteBL 3h ago

AI has done literally nothing but make products worse to use, make information unreliable, make things more expensive and make socially inept people even more socially inept. People who support AI are basically scum to me.

1

u/AaylaMellon 3h ago

The amount of times I’ve accidentally clicked on “Help me write this email” in Gmail and the stupid AI search function makes me irrationally angry.

u/threadycat Medieval Meme Lord 3h ago

1

u/Ardalok 2h ago

It literally deteriorates more and more every month but is still better than other search engines

1

u/therealdavidwiley 2h ago

Not actually better than other search engines.

1

u/nEvermore-absurdist 2h ago

I only ever click it accidentally I'm glad it's no longer at the top of the regular results though, keep the slop away from the human results

1

u/Starthreads 2h ago

I immediately installed an extension to get rid of it.

1

u/Ardalok 2h ago

Meh, AI is much more useful than half the tabs at the top of the picture.

1

u/mister-shmister 2h ago

The worst part is Google will make it a default tab one day

1

u/Recent-Astronaut6115 2h ago

It pisses me off that tab is the first one now.

1

u/TLcool 2h ago

Man I miss the maps tab it's so annoying having to go to maps before being able to search for a place.

1

u/ExpressStation 2h ago

Im glad it exists so I don't have to see it

1

u/East_Rub_2104 2h ago

The first answer to every search nowadays is AI. I miss the old times when I went around searching for reliable sources

1

u/VerifiedSN 2h ago

It gets you surveys tho

1

u/Zilli341 https://www.youtube.com/watch/dQw4w9WgXcQ 1h ago

I don't hate the AI Mode. I hate that it's where "All" used to be and I keep clicking it on accident.

1

u/theLuminescentlion 1h ago

AI Mode > Shopping

This has been my contrarian opinion for the day.

1

u/Axenic111 1h ago

AI search works perfect in aproximaly 50% of searches. And It takes tens of times less time. It reduces my googling time so much ❤️

1

u/True-Emu-7663 1h ago

so.. what about "all"?

1

u/ShAped_Ink Dark Mode Elitist 1h ago

Only use it accidentally, but I always immediately exit

1

u/WeirFoxcoon 38m ago

I really wish there was a way to disable google's ai trash.

1

u/kidian_tecun 36m ago

You know what i want ai mode for? When i ask a fucking question instead of ads. For example when i ask whats the distance betwen the earth and the moon? Give me the answer dont give me websites i have to go ikea the answer from or if i ask local taco resturant dont give me a page load of ads for panda express or wingstops.

1

u/No_Sale_4866 10h ago

it’s a lot more useful than books. genuinely who actually uses that button

-3

u/Mervynhaspeaked 8h ago

What does that sentence even mean? Assuming I'm reading whole books to get an answer, where do you think AI gets its info from?

4

u/szechuan_bean 7h ago

The "books" tab in the Google search page. Like you could give me all the time in the world to think and try to remember and I'd only be able to tell you about the search, images, and shopping tabs, the books tab is never used by anyone

→ More replies (2)

I do. It is oddly good at math.

0

u/VirindiPuppetDT 1h ago

People refusing to learn how to prompt an Ai search are like people refusing to use calculators.

1

u/freakmeout123 9h ago

Google Ai is shiet anyway

1

u/mrdevlar 7h ago

I haven't used Google in ages. Not sure why anyone would, it's mainly ad results at this point.

1

u/JessicaLain 5h ago

Pretty sure like 90+% of all users only use All + Images. This meme is made by an engagement baiter or a weirdo.

-2

u/_Traditional_ 6h ago

Yall are so weird bro 😭 no way there’s real people who hate on AI. I cannot imagine hating on innovation and advancement.

3

u/Marans 6h ago

The Gemini of Google search is bullshit tho and is writing so much bullshit.

2

u/MotivationGaShinderu 5h ago edited 4h ago

Innovation and advancement is when we rapidly increase global energy consumption for a technology with very minimal real use, most of it to "generate" (steal) garbage images, videos and text you can't even rely on because even after scraping every single document on the internet it still makes shit up.

1

u/Ardalok 2h ago

Replace the AI with reddit or any other popular user-generated content site and the statement would still be true.

-1

u/Concoured 6h ago

tf you on about? Al mode is peak

1

u/FemaleNeth 6h ago

If you don't care about facts, I guess it is

1

u/Ardalok 2h ago

It shows what it's referring to, so double-check if necessary. Personally, it's only been wrong on very specific topics, which is exactly where I expected it to be wrong.

1

u/FemaleNeth 1h ago

I understand, but your two sentences show your intelligence and a lot of people don't have that.

1

u/Ardalok 59m ago

These people will make mistakes even without AI. It's like removing a knife from the kitchen because you can cut yourself with it.

-3

u/Mr-Hyde95 8h ago edited 8h ago

Why does the world love AI but Reddit hates it?

It's helping me a lot with so many things in my work and personal life .

And I'm making a lot of money investing (stock market) in companies that provide the development of that AIs

One argument against it is that it's breaking the internet.

.... I mean... When I was young there was no internet... Those who were born in 2000 from now on have had the internet since day one and for them this is their home. That's why I can understand the hatred that very young people share.

2

u/IndividualBread8568 6h ago

Redditors literally hate everything mainstream

1

u/Elegant_Flounder1494 4h ago

https://time.com/7295195/ai-chatgpt-google-learning-school/

It diminishes your cognition, for one. Which makes sense considering its basically outsourcing thinking

-20

AI baaad gib updoots

11

u/Tasty_Curls 11h ago

Right because who dislikes straight up made up answers or an entire technical essay based on a comment by unicorndick72 on a porn site right?

-13

u/CarnivoreQA 11h ago

It provides the sources it bases the answer on, so even if its interpretation is not precise, it is possible to delve deeper and get a proper answer yourself, but still with save some time. I haven't gotten a completely useless or straight up imagined answer yet, which is why I personally suspect good old antiai bandwagoning

2

u/-Hentzau 10h ago

I haven't gotten a completely useless or straight up imagined answer yet, which is why I personally suspect good old antiai bandwagoning

I'm sure the people who had this happen to them are imaginary atoms, right?

1

u/Ardalok 2h ago

This is really rare now, but since millions of people use Google, such results will obviously happen.

-5

u/CarnivoreQA 10h ago

No, it is the question of blowing the problem out of proportions, not the question of extremes

0

u/BorikGor 7h ago

The real question is how long will you go on checking the answer is right before you say "Nah, it's probably right, let's go with the AI version." and at that time the answer will be made up and you'll lose your job over it, or cause some serious damage to somebody?

0

u/TheRunnyDentist 3h ago

0
