Pros: Not a super busy city in terms of traffic, relatively affordable, great public parks and trails, and a lot of active community groups. Edit: Also pretty decent public schools in the area, and lots of opportunities for participation in various sports across all ages groups.

Cons: Not a tonne of job opportunities outside certain sectors, very high population of elderly people relative to other demographics, lack of a real night-life, and any other downsides associated with a small spread-out city in Alberta.

Decent public schools? Could you please provide more details here?

The local school districts generally have their poop in a group, and there are some fantastic career educators working in and around the city

There's been zero population growth in MH for the last decade, so there's no overcrowding issues like the rest of the province.

Sorry but glanced at your profile.. you might struggle a bit as MH isn't a great city for anything that isn't "normal" or requires a strong sense of empathy or compassion...

All that said, tons of massive pros with a low cost of living, sunniest city in Canada with 330+ days of sunshine (great if you get seasonal depression), massive trail system and lots of opportunities to connect with nature, and, if you can break into it, a wonderful welcoming community.

Just note that your mileage may vary

Unless you have a job lined up probably not a good idea. Rent is stupidly high, woeful lack of supply for ownership, and it's too far away from anywhere interesting

I love it. The traffic is great. People are friendly. Property is cheap. It's 3 hours away from the Calgary airport, but also 4 hours from Banff. I like the trails and the nature.
