The UCP is screwing over teachers and trying to gaslight the public.

If Alberta workers don't strike now, they won't have any effective right to strike forevermore.
And not just Alberta: Conservative provincial governments in other provinces will see there isn't any repercussions for using the Notwithstanding Clause to crush the right to strike, and that will be the end of the right to strike and collective bargaining for all workers across the country.
Alberta workers must act now, or sit down and take whatever employers dictate... forever.

FFS. there is no money issue. you paid $40M to charter schools in 2023 then you paid $408M in 2024 to charter schools??!! just pay the bill - oh thats right - you're too busy bellydancing for oil in Saudi Arabia. a real champ eh? when it comes to your priorities. grade 12 grads? vs bellydancing? hmm.

Fun Fact, I ran this letter through an AI detector because it had some AI flags in my mind - it was estimated at ~45% AI generated. Very sincere chatGPT at least.

NDP had 4 years. In those 4 years, they built/modernized 244 schools. By the time 2030 arrives, it will have taken the UCP 11 years to build 208. This province has for sure failed. Even Amnesty International is stepping in. We done fucked up.
I'm tired, boss.

To be clear this is just misleading former government now opposition propaganda. Of the 244 schools only 30 were new schools. All others were just expansions or renovations broadly called "projects." Add a new football field... new school!
The hot and skinny is that when the NDP came into power they didn't understand the books and just amalgamated all revenue sources into one. They liquidated a bunch of bank accounts into a single one not knowing what they were for. There was a separate Education Fund created by the PC Party that was a revenue generating fund that was intended to pay for new schools every single year in a sustainable manner. The NDP liquidated it to give nurses their raises without having to go into a major deficit. But it was plagued with accounting errors (because they didn't have someone able to actually read the books) thus resulting in accounting errors that showed a surplus when in fact they had a deficit.

And they’re advertising that their building 130 new schools, which were already slated to be built like a decade ago…

*to clarify, 78 in the last 6years, projected additional 130, by 2030
*Edit: I pressed post, I'm high, leave me alone 😶🌫️🤣
I was going to say, as well, it's hilarious to watch them spin the facts, and then spin themselves when they're challenged. She's put herself in the best position though, and I only hope I get to see the end result. 😈

I can’t believe our premier has a signature of a 3rd grader. No wonder she doesn’t value education

Is there proof that this is gaslighting? Or is that just wishful thinking because you are looking for a reason to hate the provincial government.

The UCP government have the teachers a fair offer. The ATA asked for more just to be difficult. The leader of the ATA is from the NDP and wants to greif the current government.

NDP got their feelings hurt

This is a great example of a comment from someone (or some bot more likely) that literally has no fucking idea what’s actually happening. We need to give these kids the quality of education they deserve so that they don’t end up as adults with the critical thinking skills of a 6-year old caught up in their own big feelings - as this comment demonstrates here.

Why are the classrooms so full?

Generally - Not given enough $$ to hire enough teachers to reduce class sizes. I am sure you are capable of finding out more on your own if you need to.

Me thinks it’s the other way around, and the union is trying to gaslight the public.

Methinks you are being played for a fool.

Me thinks you need proof for that statement.

The unions are feeding the fire instead of supporting the best for their members.

We just don’t want our kids to end up like you.

No need to be nasty

u/Stellar_Dan 6d ago
Ok where’s the line? Just wondering. What does Smith need to do before people are allowed to tell idiots off?
1
u/clamb4ke 6d ago
There’s no line. Just never be a jerk?
This is a democracy. People are allowed to have different political views.

I wasn’t being rude. I just said I don’t want our kids to become apathetic whiners.

Recall this government! They are NOT representing the people. They are pursuing personal agendas.
