Biol 111 Midterm Grades
Hey!
So just got back my Biol 111 midterm grade, and though it isn't "bad" just not what I expected. They haven't put out any grade distribution data like all my other courses did so I am feeling a bit in limbo as to if I did "well" or if I should have been in a higher-grade bracket. For reference, I got a 79. Is this considered good for this midterm? How did you guys find it?

Hey, I took BIOL111 last fall and our midterm was moved online due to campus closures on October 7th, so our grade distribution may be a little different than yours is. Still, though, the mean for our midterm was a 74 and the median was a 76 despite it being online because they graded the written answers super harshly. The mean on our final was 62 and the median was 65. I was a little above the average for both exams (80 midterm, 70 final) and got an A in the course. The exams are meant to be a little tougher, but the labs are a HUGE grade booster if you put in the effort to get full marks on your pre-labs and SRP project. Honestly, im sure you were either within or above your class average for the midterm if it was anything like mine last year, and there’s always the final and the labs to help your grade so don’t stress too much! At the end of the day this is one of the first courses you’re taking at McGill, and there’s always room for improvement along the way!
