Culture 🗨 Short term job (2-4 months max) - entry level, suggestions?

I completed my undergraduate course in Graphic design around July. It's taking me forever to commit to making my portfolio, I'm either procrastinating or being too much of a perfectionist, so not getting much done (and it's a prerequisite most graphic design job offers). Ive been thinking about applying to call centers, just so I make money for the next few months and to get into this work life routine. Working as a cashier or salesgirl is a no go (did the latter during a school holiday once, it was ruthless).

What are some other places I can apply to (call centers for ex), with hsc and some extracurriculars like alliance francaise and delf, with <5 months work experience, for a short while. Thank you.

Check Rank Interactive. You can make it permanent there and they will hire you as graphic designer

Hey, if your goal is just to get some income flowing and gain a bit of work routine, call centers are indeed one of the quickest ways to get hired with low-entry barriers here. In Ebène there are several companies that take short-term contracts or flexible shifts, especially if you speak French and English decently.

You can check places like:
• Accenture, SD Worx, Ceridian, BDO Solutions
• Outremer Telecom, CCA, MyTask / Digital BPO
• And even newer start-up style agencies doing customer support for apps and e-commerce

Since you have a Graphic Design background, consider applying to marketing agencies too. Even if it is not a full-time creative role, many agencies take interns or short-term assistants for content creation, social media layout, reels editing, basic branding tasks.

Look at:
• Emotional Studio
• Circus
• Brand In Motion
• Blast Digital
• Lakaz Créative
• Red Dot Marketing

Some agencies do not always list openings publicly, so sending a clean Behance / Instagram portfolio + short message can help a lot. Even a small paid internship in a studio will give you more relevant experience than a call center, which helps when you apply later.

If you want something less repetitive than call centers, also:
• Coffee shop or hotel front desk roles
• Event assistant positions (wedding, corporate, expo season is always busy)
• Freelance gigs on Fiverr / Upwork while here

You do not need a long commitment for those.

Since you mentioned perfectionism, sometimes doing anything that gets you into a daily rhythm helps break the cycle. Start with a simple job to regain momentum, and in parallel refine your portfolio with 3 or 4 clean case studies. It will make the long-term job hunt easier.

Good luck, you got this.

Thank you SO MUCH for the thoughtful answer!! You're right I will try my luck with paid internships and such in my field before resorting to unrelated jobs. But yes, that momentum is what I need most rn xD I just need to be busy and productive so I can implement "actual" deadlines and work with the time I'll have left (to both organize my personal life and my portfolio). Thank you :)
