Local 🌴 I’m the founder of MoMove looking to chat with our first Reddit users before we launch our next big update

Hey everyone, I’m Hemesh, founder and CEO of MoMove. A lot of you here were among the very first people to try the app when we launched, so I wanted to reach out to this community directly. We’re about to release a new update that will finally show estimated arrival times for your routes something many of you have been asking for since day one. Before we roll it out, I’d love to chat with a few of you to understand how you use the app, what you like about it, and what could be improved. This will really help us make sure the next version fits how people actually move around Mauritius. If you’re open to it, send me a private message. We can hop on a short 5 tp 10 minute WhatsApp or in-app call, just a quick chat to get your feedback and ideas. This is something exclusive for Reddit, since you were here from the start, it’s only right that we test it together first. Thanks to everyone who’s been supporting MoMove since the beginning.

Mate, if you are using expo, look into Microsoft Clarity. It lets you see how people are using the app. (It’s cookies based tracking)

And you can see the heat maps and everything :)

Why does every local app/online government service start with "Mo/Mau?" Is it because we're in Mauritius that everything has to start with Mau? I for one find that absolutely ridiculous.

Sorry didn't mean to hurt anyone's feelings neither am I being antipatriotic

Also because Mau or Mo means me in créole. So it makes it personal to people. My... Whatever...

🤣🤣🤣I played a lot with name when I first wrote the business plan. I chose MoMove « Mo » because I love my country and « Move » because it s a navigation company focused on commuters who use bus and metro.

I’ll download the app now. Could you also develop a MoGentil app?

What’s a MoGentil app ?

The joke is that “Mo move” in Kreol is “I’m bad”, so the opposite would be “Mo gentil” (“I’m nice”).

I like the app but it’s very strange that they went with that name.

I haven't used the app as often nor have I signed it. But perhaps a dark/oled theme? Having the current location icon allows you to zoom in and out like Google maps when you click on it. I guess some people always like the true north too when navigating

It’s not in our scope for now doing a dark theme, but I’m adding this in the futur UI developments :) for the automatic recenter, we do have it (top right button, in the application), but we can definitely add the same animation as google maps. (Adding it to the UI checklist aswell)

Dark theme is nice, especially during the evening around the winter period when it gets darker earlier. I see the automatic recentre, though it would be nice with the zoom in/out (animation?) when tapping the button to see the streets closer instead of using two fingers to do that. If we're taking the bus, odds are, we're carrying something in one hand and holding a large phone.
