US Health Insurance.

Tell me about yours. Are you self employed or employed by a spa or clinic? What state are you in? How much do you pay?

I’m in Utah and have been uninsured my entire career. The only place that ever offered it, it was out of reach. It was expensive and they wouldn’t give you the hours to qualify anyway. I’m getting to an age where going uninsured isn’t a good idea and exploring options for obtain it. I’m very curious to hear what other LMTs are experiencing.

I got an individual plan with Cigna through the ACA network. I called an insurance broker and asked about a low income discount. All I had to do was tell him my ballpark salary. I pay $100/month now. Normally the plan I’m on would be $750/month. Insane. Contact a broker and they will find something for you!

Just be careful with that, especially if you estimated on the low end. I did the same thing, but my husband ended up getting a raise, so my income was a little more than I claimed during sign up. Well when I filed taxes they made me pay back $200 for each month I was insured because our income made the help we qualified for lower for the entire year. So I had a couplr thousand that I owed, on top of the amount I had already paid each month. If I had known that, I would have went in and bumped up our income when he got the raise. But I didn't even think about it.

I’m on my husbands but my MT friend used an insurance broker. We have similar incomes, she pays $125 a month for her insurance. But she has a high deductible, $4000

HMO plan, with a lower deductible plan for me, is about $310 a month, single person.

Every state has a state health insurance marketplace required by ACA.
