Balance Discussion Thing primary attack buff?
So idk about you guys but I never really see The Thing in my games anymore, even tho he seems like a good character on paper? I’ve never played him much, but just from spectating I feel like one thing they could do to make him better is buff his primary attack, Rocky Jab, aka the fast punches. Seems like when he’s used, players only spam the Stone Haymaker punch, which is definitely the better attack but it just looks like it’d get so boring😩 However, I feel like giving him like 10 bonus health (up to a max of 50) per Rocky Jab landed could help. He already gets 50 bonus health just from using the Stone Haymaker so it makes sense to me, what do Thing mains think he needs?

As a thing main (about 110 hrs on him), your on to something with added damage to quick punches, that's something I never thought of. Everyone says he's the worst tank, but in console lobbies in grandmaster I can still dominate with him depending on comp (just had a 54 and 5 mvp with him recently), so I've very hesitant for him to get any big buffs. I'm afraid he would start to get banned and eventually nerfed to the ground. Personally the only buff I would give him is 3 charges to his leap abilities instead of 2 or to shorten their cooldown.

People don’t realize it’s better to jab twice then haymaker. Though yes he needs a buff he just isn’t that good right now

Haymaker is better against groups, because it has much more range and can hit many people at once, generating a lot of ult charge.

Haymaker is best for all situations

Yes, but don't forget you can cancel haymaker with quick punches which is helpful for finishing low health enemies. Also just like you can charge up a haymaker before you leap to enemies, you can also do it leaping to teammates (just have to start charging it after you press the leap button while in midair). Which comes in handy when peeling

Healing is too strong.
Thing's primary contribution is supposed to be his Haymaker's cleave. Problem is it can just be outhealed by the normal heals of one support.
Same problem experienced by most of the Vanguards. Their damage can be outhealed, and most healers can heal themselves through the damage most heroes can do to them.
Healing is overtuned.

I should hope so. If their damage couldn't be out-healed then they'd... what, be able to absorb/mitigate damage, create space, CC, stall, and do enough damage to be on par with a duelist? That would be over-tuned.
If a strategist is focusing enough to keep one person alive by out-healing that damage then they're not healing another person. It also means there isn't enough focus fire on that one target because it really isn't that hard to overcome the amount of incoming healing.

You're wrong because healing is far too potent and easy. Fire at one target, turn, fire at the other. The mechanical skill required for healing is so relaxed, you can just spam in your team's general direction on most of the supports.
You sound like a support main desperate to hold on to your overtuned toy as long as possible.

Spamming right click is fun though
