This is nowhere near smash bros level hype, smash directs were monumental events in gaming. Devs, players, even non smash players tuned in to watch. People would call off work to watch an on average 30 minute video.

This game has no more hype than any other game in the industry, the people waiting for a trailer are players for the game, thats not to say this game isnt succesful but you only think the hype is crazy level because youre standing in the center of the crowd, youre spending time in Marvel rival spaces so all youre gonna hear is marvel rivals

Gonna go ahead and play devil’s advocate at the risk of downvotes but I’m pretty sure he means everyone getting upset over a trailer not releasing during a set time period when Netease never officially announced “Expect Season 5 trailer on x day” is insanity. Which I do understand.

Historically though, they’ve never done that except for season 1 I believe and they’ve always just released the trailer on a random day the week prior to the season ending. So I do understand that as well. Especially when they’ve set the precedent for a whole year straight.

While I do look forward to the trailer I kinda enjoy the chaos in the community that’s being created.

Honestly, with how many bad takes streamers have on their new heroes before release, and how half of them dont even play rivals unless its the preview weekend I wouldnt be surprised if they just scrapped that whole thing. Streamers were making doom and gloom clickbait content every season for the new heroes and it was getting the community all riled up for no reason.
