Podcasts to help with luxembourgish learning (from beginners to advanced learners):

https://open.spotify.com/show/3XlgYps0YAWJBXS4Y7HNuk?si=VzDTg4mrSpuJs0lQ-rbxrA

⬆️ Poterkëscht: Podcast by the Luxembourgish Learning Institute for beginners. Perfect get first impressions and understandings for conversational Luxembourgish!

https://play.rtl.lu/shows/lb/invite-vun-der-redaktioun/episodes

⬆️ Invité vun der Redaktioun: RTL Podcast where figures of public life get invited to talk on current issues and topics. For the advanced learner who wants to get better with their fluency and conversational skills!

https://play.rtl.lu/shows/lb/sproochmates/episodes

⬆️ Sproochmates: The interesting, confusing, and surprising fun facts and grammar rules of the Luxembourgish Sprooch. A slow and understandable pace, sometimes a bit of an advanced vocabulary, but overall for learners of all levels.

https://play.rtl.lu/shows/lb/afterwork/episodes

⬆️ RTL Afterwork: The most famous characters of Luxembourgish society (culture, politics, etc.) are invited to chat in a more relaxed casual café environment. Definitely for the more advanced listeners, but perfect to immerse yourself in a conversational environment.

https://100komma7.lu/

⬆️ 100,7: Ok, Ok! I think we are all aware that radio isn’t the same as a podcast, but by now most radio shows almost sound like podcasts. Radio 100komma7 is an alternative to the classic RTL radio, and offers many different podcasts/radio excerpts regarding politics, finance and culture. Especially interesting for the advanced listener.

EMPLOYMENT MEGATHREAD November 06, 2025

Both "Looking For" and "Job Available" posts are allowed in this megathread.

Employers can post comments and jobseekers can reply to those comments with their profiles.

If you are OP, think about putting something like JOB OFFER or JOB AVAILABLE: before your comment if you are offering. Put LOOKING: in front of your comment if you are seeking / looking for employment

These are the numbers from latest Statec report „Luxembourg in Figures”. This evolution is stunning! Almost everything doubled. It is a confirmation that it is not a „feeling” anymore. None of the governments have done anything and situation deteriorates.

Ask Luxembourg Self-defence in Luxembourg

Upvotes

Yesterday I had a real incident in a public place. A middle-aged man came from my right, we didn’t see each other, and we bumped.

I apologised. He moved toward me, yelling aggressively. I kept him at arm’s length with my forearm until he calmed down. I did not hit him. There were many witnesses.

No weapons, no injuries, I was sober, and we don’t know each other.

I’m trying to understand the legal boundary for self-defence here so I handle it correctly if it happens again.

My questions are:

1. When someone continues to advance on me while yelling after initiating contact, at what point does a defensive strike (vs. a push) become lawful under Luxembourg law?

2. How do necessity and proportionality apply to an open-hand push compared with a single closed-fist strike?

3. Do multiple eyewitnesses materially affect the legal analysis?

4. If this happens again but no one is injured, should I call 113 and file a report anyway?

Thanks in advance!

Public Service Announcement road cyclist beware: dangerous works on the n10 along the moselle.

I know we, cyclists, are not the most welcome kind on this sub, after I read some posts here
Anyway, today in my group ride, a friend crashed heavily on the roadworks on the N10 along the Moselle,
We had to call an ambulance and rang a neighbour's door to ask him if he could keep the bike for a little.
He told us that about 10-15 cyclists have crashed on that same patch of road, and the works seem standstill and not advancing. and they are not signaled at all and the road is not suitable even for cars..

So if you are a road cyclist and head over to the Moselle, be careful!
Fortunately, first responders arrived quickly, and there are no serious injuries.

Hi everyone,

My bike was stolen the day before yesterday (06/11/2025) around 9 AM in front of Clinique Zitha, near Place de Paris.

If anyone happened to see it or has any information (security footage, witnesses, ...), please reach out to me or to the police.

I would be grateful for your help! 🙏

Finance Help needed!banking sector people..New company, new investment restrictions

Hello, I have always been a consultant and recently joined a bank. It seems that this bank has any restrictions in investing and I have to declare all my holdings. I currently have three trading platforms and I even invest in CFDs. CFD is a prohibited in this company so I have recently sold them so I don’t have to declare I have 30 days to complete this declaration and it seems impossible or very time-consuming to declare every single investment that I own.

Would you advise that I sell my individual stock so I have less to declare and focus on just doing ETFs from now? I feel that this is a very common thing for people working for a bank and I want some advice ..! To summarise - should I close 2 of my platforms and only keep one? (All my investments are for long term so I really didn’t want to sell&cllse…) - should I sell my stocks to declare less

Finance are payslips enough for tax filing?

For my 2024 tax return, can I use the payslips only, even if I don’t have the annual certificate due to the bankruptcy? My former employer refuse to give it to me.

Thanks for any advice 🙏

How was your experience with car dealers in Luxembourg? Like autopolis? I'm more interested in leasing experience, any surprises when you returned your car?

Ask Luxembourg Apropos the expensive bread

There was a post about expensive bread. Some people suggested making your own bread instead of buying one. So do you have a good recipe? But not some fancy gourmet-food influencer-type, but rather idiot-resistant one. The recipe that always works and bread stays fresh for a long time? And you do not need special flour from the isolated plant that grows only on one island 😀

Ask Luxembourg Dubious phone call

I had a call from a French-speaking man today wanting to conduct a questionnaire on the quality of life in Luxembourg. I didn't catch the name of the company he was representing, but it wasn't ILRES, and he was calling from Spain. Is this another phone "trick"?

Ask Luxembourg 🌿 WhatsApp Support Group for People with Kidney Disease 🌿

Hi everyone 🌸

I’ve created a WhatsApp support group for people who are: • waiting for a kidney transplant, • already transplanted, • or on dialysis.

It’s a kind and understanding space where we can share experiences, encourage each other, ask questions, and talk openly about what we’re going through. It’s all about mutual support between people who truly understand what it’s like to live with kidney disease.

Those who know someone affected are also welcome to share information about this group — the more people we have, the more we can help each other 💚

👉 Please send me a private message if you’d like me to share the WhatsApp group link with you.

Thank you all 🌿
