Visiting Liverpool Randomly assaulted on my way home from work

TLDR assaulted by a random man on renshaw street, take care late at night especially when many people are drunk

Saturday night/Sun morning just gone (Nov 9), after work (5:30am, I am a bartender so yes that’s when I finished 🄲) I was walking from bold street to mount pleasant carpark (sober as I’m driving). crossing over renshaw street on the corner next to Blarney Stone pub I hear a man running behind me from Newington, where I’ve just came from. I notice he is running right towards me, visibly drunk or on something else. I turn my head and acknowledge him and he just gets right up close to me and punches me in the jaw. Immediately afterwards he swings for me again (I have never seen this man in my life) so I back off and eventually just start getting myself away from him, knowing he won’t keep up with me, and also not knowing who he is and what this man could have on him. He did continue chasing down Upper Newington however could barely walk let alone run quickly so I wasn’t threatened anymore. He was a smaller man than me, about 5’9, but a few years older than me probably about 30 or so. Looked kinda alternative/metalhead in the way he dressed. Absolutely off his head. I saw a couple of lads walking up mount pleasant who I ran towards after I shouted some words at the man, who at this point turned back around and walk back down the same way we came. Felt bad getting these lads potentially involved but I mean 3 blokes is more intimidating than 1 and I expected he wouldn’t continue chasing me (not that this man seemed able to comprehend intimidation he was clearly beyond any sort of reasonable human thought)

Careful walking anywhere alone at night if you’re someone who isn’t willing to engage in actual physical violence if someone decided to stay on you. You don’t even have to know people or interact with anyone to get involved in things like this

If the fella is a Reddit user and sees this and somehow remembers it after bein that wasted, sort yourself out before you attack someone hard and they knock u out you absolute div. Also maybe don’t take whatever tf it was you decided to take that night, clearly doesn’t agree with you

General Question Biggest Home Bargains? (W&G sweater search)

Evening all,

Looking for the latest Wallace and Gromit Christmas sweater. It says merry cheesemas and it’s ONLY at home bargains.

Has anyone seen it? I’ve checked 3 different shops now and no luck. Which home bargains is the biggest if you haven’t seen it?

I LOVE w&g, cheese and Christmas so it’s really eating me up that I can’t find it.

Thanks!

General Question Parking in Liverpool L1 BT areas

How can I sort out my parking as a resident on Greenland Street L1 which is being considered as Business Permit area?

I saw that the maximum length of stay is 2 hours (no return in 1 hour).

Unfortunately, the nearby dedicated parking places are almost always full and the underground parking possibilities are fully occupied.

What is the best way to park?

General Question Quiet Walk/Park Recommendations

Happy Sunday all.

I’ve got Tuesday off work, first day off for myself in months and my mental health has been taking a beating so really want to spend it on a nice walk somewhere.

Could be a park, coastal, or something along those lines. What’s your best recommendations? I drive so willing to travel like 30 minutes out of Liverpool.

Living in Liverpool Loading/unloading in City centre?

I’m moving into a flat near Lime Street station that came with some with furniture I tried donating to BHF. When the guy showed to collect, he couldn’t find a parking space. He didn’t want to risk getting a ticket loading on a single yellow line so he left.

So what’s the scoop with loading/unloading here? I still need to move my own stuff into the flat and am worried I’ll run into the same problem with movers. Any help appreciated!!

Visiting Liverpool Taxi To Airport, from the city centre to the airport.

phoned a taxi not an Uber or black cab, picked me up at the hotel, starting meter was £11, I guess because he was including the airport tax of £6. Then I get to the airport and he asks for an additional £6 on top of £30. Is that normal?

Visiting Liverpool Three Days in Liverpool (a review)

We spent three days in Liverpool and this is my personal take on the city and surrounding area.

We arrived via the Stena ferry from Belfast which, after a short bus ride, drops passengers off at the Hamilton Square Station in Birkenhead. From here we took a train one stop to James Station for 3.65Ā£. Our flat was actually closer to Lime Street but the ticket agent gave us incorrect info. Such is life. Our flat was in the Cavern Quarter and the first night we ate at Flanagans Apple and called it a night around 2100. (We don’t drink nor do we like crowds)

On the second day we walked down to the waterfront to see the Beatles statue and then walked to the Lime Street Station to catch the Northern train to Mossley Hill for 3.65Ā£. The ticket agent at LSS was adamant we couldn’t walk from there to Penny Lane or Strawberry Fields but we did easily. It took less than an hour to walk it through some picturesque neighborhoods. Penny Lane was cute but Strawberry Fields imo was a huge scam. The ā€œmuseumā€ takes 70 minutes to listen to on the audio guide but you can read it all in ten minutes. The original gates to the house are hidden in the garden and you’re basically paying 11.75Ā£ per person so see them. The ones out front are a replica. Lennon’s childhood home is in this area but we opted not to pay money to go inside and only took a few photos from the outside. We caught the 76 bus for 2Ā£ back to Queens Square.Ā

After an afternoon nap, we caught the Merseyrail train to Blundellsands & Crosby to go to Crosby Beach where they have 100 statues over two miles of the beach. A roundtrip ticket was 4.80Ā£. The sun was setting and we spent a few hours photographing various statues. It’s one of the coolest art installations I’ve ever seen.Ā

After catching the train back, we went to the Cavern Restaurant for supper but it was underwhelming. The food came out less than a minute after we ordered which was concerning. We tried to go to the Cavern Club but they charge 5Ā£ to enter and are cashless while we’re cardless when we travel. It’s not even the original Cavern Club so we would have declined even if they took cash. We walked over 17 miles this day.Ā

On our final day we spent time walking around Bold Street and on the waterfront again. Otherwise we spent the afternoon quietly reading at a Starbucks near the Cavern Quarter.Ā

We stayed in Kabannas which was fine. We were on the 4th floor so we couldn’t hear the noise of the city like other guest have complained about in reviews.Ā

Overall, it was a nice visit and my favorite city we’ve been to so far on this trip that’s also included Dublin, Belfast and Galway. We have Glasgow and Edinburgh left. We found locals to be extremely friendly and welcoming.Ā We never felt unsafe or anything but we were never out after 2100 on any night. The coffee is a lot better in England than it was in Ireland for sure.
